During the Galactic Civil War, a smuggler allied to the Alliance to Restore the Republic infiltrated an Imperial outpost with several other Rebels, including an Ewok. The smuggler and their fellows disguised themselves as stormtroopers, but the Ewok was more difficult to disguise. The smuggler devised a solution by disguising the Ewok as an R2-series astromech droid.
