This individual was a male that was a commander of a starship. He assisted Jedi Knight Gira and the Jedi's group of Padawans in escaping the forces of the Galactic Empire during the Great Jedi Purge. When the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader and stormtroopers under him attacked the commander's ship, the commander betrayed Gira by surrendering to the Sith Lord. Vader ordered him to place explosives on the escape vessel that the Padawans fled in. After Vader convinced Gira to join him, the Sith betrayed Gira by ordering the commander to detonate the explosives, killing the Padawans.

Behind the scenesEdit

The commander first appeared in the story The Duty, which was featured in Star Wars Tales 12 and written by Christian Read. The story was later compiled into a trade paperback version, Star Wars Tales Volume 3. Plausible stories in Star Wars Tales 1–20 were initially viewed as S-canon until referenced in a non-Tales source, at which point the subject matter was elevated to C-canon status.^[2] The commander was later mentioned in Gira's entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, treating the commander as a unique character and raising his existence in The Duty to C-canon.
