I am a veteran Wikipedia editor (since 2006) and am the founder of a wiki on my favorite manga series, so I don't spend as much time on this wiki. Userboxes are nice, but I don't see the point of having too many of them up, except to showcase accomplishments.
Star Wars backgroundEdit
My earliest Star Wars memory is of watching Return of the Jedi on a long plane flight around 1985 or so (I think I was around 6) - and I stayed up to watch it more than once because of the Slave Leia costume. =) Because of this early influence, I have practically never been interested in Star Trek.
I have primarily followed the six films (with a preference for the Original trilogy) and am thus not as familiar with the Clone Wars or a lot of the Expanded Universe, except for previously owning Battlefront II and reading the first four books of the Rogue Squadron series. However in hindsight the novels were such a blast to read that I'm thinking of picking up again with this series at least.
The first Star Wars-related items I ever got were three action figures: a Gamorrean guard, the Rancor keeper, and Chewbacca, none of which I picked out myself. I did not get anything else for several years.
Further collecting did not really ensue until the release of the Special Editions. This led me to focus on the vehicles. I went a little overboard with merchandise for Episode I and thus did not pick up any for the rest of the Prequel trilogy.
Star Wars is not one of my primary collecting focuses as the moment, however I am thinking of getting into it again. However with any form of collecting, and with Star Wars in particular, given that the collectible universe is so vast, that unless your name is Steve Sansweet or have vast financial resources - it is necessary, if not mandatory, to focus as much as possible. Unless you don't mind ending up with a hodgepodge collection of whatever strikes your fancy with only Star Wars as a common theme. The question for me is what to focus on? I do have my eye on some Japanese chirashi and shitajiki (note that neither of these terms are mentioned once in this wiki) at the moment, as this is an example of really focusing. I wonder if Steve has these already?
