The Dinner at the Lars homestead was an important event during the Galactic Civil War.

Luke Skywalker had been living on a moisture farm with his foster parents Owen and Beru Lars since he was brought to Tatooine by Obi-Wan Kenobi in 19 BBY. Skywalker easily grew tired of this life, however. In 0 BBY, Owen Lars acquired two droids to help with work on the farm. Seeing a chance for freedom, Skywalker made his move.

At dinner that night, Skywalker poured himself a cup of blue milk. As he did, he informed Owen Lars that he thought the new droids would work fine and that he intended to transfer to the Imperial Academy. Lars immediately vetoed the idea, pointing out that the harvest was an important time, one which would require Luke's presence for at least another season. He told Skywalker that he could join his friends next year.

Dejected, Skywalker left to go to the garage. His stay at the Lars homestead was soon cut short, as Imperial stormtroopers killed Owen and Beru Lars shortly afterward in their search for the droids.
