[edit] A Brief History of My Time
[edit] The Films
First, the most important thing to any Star Wars fan: I saw ESB and ROTJ in the theaters. Although I have to say ROTJ is the only one I remember. Alas, Eniad was not yet on this Earth for the beginning of it all, a film simply called Star Wars. I did catch them all on the opening showing of the Special Edition.
I have seen the Original Trilogy many tens of times. But I'm sure that's not unusual here. The new movies disappointed me, especially The Phantom Menace. However with repeated viewing, they have grown on me. I'm up to about 6-8 times on each (still can't stand Jar-Jar). Thanks to LucasFilm for including the original theatrical releases in the latest round of DVDs.
[edit] Collecting
In 1991 some guy named Zahn wrote a book, and I have been hooked on the novels ever since. I have collected all the US copies of the Bantam Spectra series, both in hard and soft cover if possible. For some reason Tales of the Bounty Hunters took me a long time to find again. I have most of the Del Rey novels, but I am missing some hardbacks and some of the newer ones.
Similarly, in 1995, a little game called Star Wars: Dark Forces came to my PC. To this day the Dark Forces saga is my favorite. KOTOR and it's sequel were also very enjoyable. My collection of games is in no way as large or extensive as my book collection, but I enjoy playing them when I get a chance. I usually play the games on the easy setting just to get more content in the EU. I have a retired Smuggler on Star Wars: Galaxies that gets reinstated every few months when I feel like running around the Galaxy.
Since 2003, I have collect the Dark Horse comics as well. I have enjoyed them all, with the exception of the Dark Empire series, which I thought had the wrong feel. I do not have a sizable collection yet, but I am on my way. I am intrigued by the Tales of the Jedi and the Empire series.
On the Star Wars shelf in my home, there is also an assortment of children and young adult books, soundtracks, and reference works. You might even catch a glimpse of a 20 year old copy of The Battle for Endor. I have finally collected all the NPR radio dramas. However, if you have any good (read: cheap) leads on the CD versions, let me know. The newest addition to my collection eluded me for ten years. The soundtrack to Shadows of the Empire completes my collection of SotE media.
Right now I am reading the Episode III novelization, and patiently awaiting the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Check out my collection. If you would like me to look anything up, or just want to discus my bookshelf, leave me a message on my Talk page.
[edit] Research
I spend a lot of my time shuffling through timelines and chronologies on the web. I like knowing how things happened in GFFA in relation to other events. Most of my research is done on Wookieepedia, although I tend to find more reliable sources in the case of citations. One day, I was perusing an article with several red-links. I thought, "Someone should fix these," as my eyes wandered to the little create account link at the top of the page. So I'm here to fix little bugs I run across and, in time, maybe write an article or two.
I've got a list of projects I'm working on at the moment, as well as pages I've edited in the past.
