Hello everyone, I'm genghisdani. Yes, I get picky about the capitalization of my handle; also, if you can't spell it or read it right, just call me Dani.

[edit] Biography

I am an avid Star Wars fan, and proud of it!

I saw my first Star Wars movie - A New Hope - around 1995, followed shortly thereafter by The Empire Strikes Back. I was 7 at the time, and my parents were of the opinion that I was too young to understand some of the concepts of Return of the Jedi, and therefore I did not see that movie until later. Because we did not own a copy of any of the films (the copies we saw before were rented), I did not see another Star Wars film for about another 2 or 3 years. By this time, I had almost completely forgotten the movies, and did not realize what I was watching (as it turned out, I was flipping through the channels on TV, and saw the last half of A New Hope). Again, I did not have an opportunity to watch a Star Wars movie for a while following. In 1999, when The Phantom Menace came out, my parents went and saw it in theaters; unfortunately, I did not get to go.

Finally, in 2000 or 2001, there was a TV special where they played Episodes 4, 5, & 6 and then Episode 1, about one episode per week, resulting in a month of Star Wars goodness. I was finally able to watch all the episodes to date, and my understanding of the Star Wars Galaxy soared; I was hooked.

I watched Attack of the Clones when it came out in theaters, as well as Revenge of the Sith. Sometime after watching Revenge of the Sith, I was at a friend's house who had the novel form of the movie. It is my personal opinion that Matthew Stover is one of the greatest authors ever; he described everything in such detail that I realized just how much Episode 3 really lacked as a film.

From that point on, I decided that the EU novels would far surpass anything in the movies, and I took up reading. I had loved reading as a child, but I tore through books so quickly, I was always looking for something to read; my biggest issue with reading was that as I got older, I was becoming unable to find something that interested me. I was reading Tom Clancy novels for a while, but eventually, I realized that I wasn't particularly interested in the material. I needed a harder drug, and Star Wars filled the void.

I began by reading Shatterpoint and Traitor, Matthew's other 2 published Star Wars novels. I then continued with the Clone Wars novels, mostly because I didn't understand the New Jedi Order saga. Eventually, I asked my sister to drop by the bookstore and get me a couple Star Wars books; my instructions to her were just to get some that I did not have yet (which would be most of them, at that point). My sister brought home Jedi Trial and The Unifying Force. I read Jedi Trial, and didn't particularly care for it; but I couldn't simply start on the last book of the NJO series without reading the rest of them; so, I went and got Vector Prime. Thus began my foray into the NJO series.

I continued reading through the New Jedi Order series, buying books as I finished them, getting other Star Wars books if the bookstore I was at didn't have the next NJO book. Eventually I completed my NJO collection and was just waiting to finish them all up. Because of my schedule, I was only able to read on weekends, but I would finish 1/2 - 3/4 of a book each week. Finally, on October 21, 2006; I finished The Unifying Force, thereby completing the New Jedi Order series (with the exception of Or Die Trying, because I am not a Star Wars Insider subscriber, nor a Hyperspace member.)

As a gamer, I have played many of the Star Wars video games. I do not, at this time, know what I will read next, although I intend to begin reading the Dark Nest Trilogy shortly.

[edit] Wookiepedia Contributions

Here I will list my major contributions to Wookiepedia. Usually, I simply correct small grammer or spelling mistakes, or occasionally add something someone inadvertently left out; I will not list these, for simplification's sake.

  • Jedi's Honor
Wookification and cleanup, as well as adding some missing info and cover art.
