The Gray Cadre is largely a list of Wookieepedians who are on other article review panels, as well as other users deemed to be qualified to lend an expert review on Comprehensive article nominations. The Gray Cadre is not analogous to either the Inquisitorius or the AgriCorps, in so far as it is not a review panel, it is not subject to continual internal meetings and operations, and most importantly, it is not the obligation of those on the list to review nominations. Comprehensive article nominations can pass without a member of the Grey Cadre tending a review. For details on the specifics of the Gray Cadre's significance in the Comprehensive articles process, please consult the comprehensive article nomination rules.

Members of the Gray Cadre can be autonomously inducted without a formal process, if their admittance is signed off by at least two existing members of the group. If this initiative is passed along with the comprehensive articles process, this will be replaced by a formalized process, in which users can also submit themselves for Grey Cadre consideration.
