From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.
In no particular order of importance:
- I live near Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- I was born in 1977 and I'm betting everybody here knows what else happened that year.
- I actually don't think Jar Jar's so bad, although I acknowledge I might feel differently if I saw the type of character he's supposedly based on.
- I think that Jedi can care about things, become attached to things, and still be good Jedi as opposed to becoming desperate psychopaths like Anakin did at the end. As evidence, I'd like to point out the following: Obi-Wan was clearly upset when Qui-Gon took a lightsaber to the gut. He was attached to Qui-Gon. Yoda appeared visibly shaken and full of despair after his loss to Palpatine. This is understandable, but such a reaction is not in keeping with the Jedi's belief that they should just accept whatever hand fate deals them without caring.
- Because of the above, I like Luke's Jedi Order a LOT more than the Jedi Order depicted in the prequels, and if Luke's Order gets turned into anything like the old one, with students going around saying "Yes massa" every 10 seconds and not allowing themselves to love anybody or have any fun, I will be EXTREMELY upset.
- I played SWG until Sony wrecked the game, and am currently playing World of Warcraft. The two non MMORPGs I play most often are Pirates: Life the Life and NBA Live 2005. I'd probably play X-wing and TIE Fighter again if I hadn't lost the joystick I used back when I first got them.
- I believe that Obi-Wan should have tried harder to redeem Anakin instead of leaving him to die on Mustafar. I believe that nobody deserves to be burned alive as Anakin was except for those who would burn others alive (the punishment must fit the crime, it cannot be any more, it cannot be any less). I haven't gone and rented ROTS since it came out on DVD because it was one of the most depressing and emotionally draining movies I've ever seen, but I'm pretty sure that Obi-Wan knew Anakin was still alive when he left him. Even if he didn't, he could have levitated Anakin up the slope and checked on him, just to be sure.
- I believe that if Lucas is going to tell us the EU stories are "sequels" to the OT, if the stories are going to be touted by LucasFilm/LucasBooks as "sequels" and "canon" and Sue Rostini and all the others work their butts off to try and ensure no piece of fiction contradicts any other piece of fiction, Lucas should absolutely NOT make movies that contradict the EU stories that were written before them. But if he does, and the EU writers don't have any right to place limits on his stories, then he should leave well enough alone when it concerns THEIR work. In other words, why should he have the right to tell them "no no, don't kill Jacen, kill Anakin. You know, because of his name. Having two Anakins is confusing." I realize he created this franchise, but come on, does he have no respect for the creative expression of others? Most of these guys are better writers than Lucas anyway; if it weren't for Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan scripting Empire and ROTJ those movies wouldn't have been nearly as good as they were. Plus, if Lucas had recognized his limitations and hired somebody else to write the script for the prequels, Anakin's dialogue wouldn't have been anywhere NEAR as corny.
- Finally.....GREEDO DID NOT SHOOT FIRST! GREEN MOFO DIDN'T EVEN SHOOT!
