Although Matthew had yet to be born when the original Star Wars film was released in the theaters, it is the first film that he remembers seeing on video when he was a child. He, unlike a lot of fans, enjoys the Prequel Trilogy just as much if not more than the Original Trilogy. After the theatrical release of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, he began collecting and reading everything that he could get his hands on in the Expanded Universe. His favorite character is Obi-Wan Kenobi. He is glad that there will be no more Star Wars films, and looks forward to future television adventures.

Matthew named his second child, a son, "Quinlan" after the character Quinlan Vos, who is a very popular Jedi from the Expanded Universe.

He has had many different letters published inside the letters pages of many different Dark Horse Comics Star Wars publications.
