Attempt to capture the Jedi
Edit
- "Would you bet your life on the ethics of a being who is using bounty hunters to trap Jedi on a training exercise?"
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi to Floria
In 27 BBY, Granta Omega hired several bounty hunters—Teleq, Mol Arcasite, Hunti Pereg, an unidentified Tursha, and the brother-and-sister team of Floria and Dane—to capture Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker while they were on a training exercise on Ragoon VI. Floria used a ruse to gain Kenobi and Skywalker's trust, claiming that she had been on a class trip to the planet when someone killed her teacher and all of her classmates. She asked for transport off-planet, but when the group reached the Jedi's ship, they were attacked by the Tursha. The Jedi defeated the Tursha, but their ship was destroyed by a bomb, and the Jedi captured Dane after seeing him trying to sneak onto the ship before it exploded.[3]
Floria and Dane then admitted to being bounty hunters and told the Jedi of Omega's plan to capture them. Turning the tables, the Jedi decided to track the other hunters. They defeated Arcasite after she attacked them, then defeated Teleq, who had captured Wren Honoran, the Jedi that Kenobi and Skywalker were tracking on the training exercise. The Jedi then persuaded Floria and Dane to contact Omega and tell him that they had captured the Jedi, but needed transport. Omega agreed to meet them with his transport, but was not fooled; suspecting a trap, he disguised himself and posed as Pereg to discover the truth. He realized that Floria and Dane had lied to him, and did not meet them with his transport. The Jedi were then attacked by the real Pereg; after defeating him, they found his transport and took off.[3]
- "You don't know his power. It comes from the pyramid itself."
- ―Hunti Pereg, before his death
Remembering this quote, the Jedi stopped at the location where they had seen the first Pereg, whom they had realized was really Omega. Kenobi searched the surrounding area and located a Sith artifact, which Omega had deliberately left behind. He decided to take it back to the Jedi Temple for safekeeping. The Jedi, Floria, and Dane then headed for Coruscant. After dropping Honoran and the Sith artifact off at the Temple, and Floria, Dane, and the captured ship at security headquarters, Kenobi and Skywalker then went to Dex's Diner to see if Dexter Jettster could provide them with information on Omega; Jettster was unable to do so, however. Unbeknownst to the Jedi, though, Omega was secretly watching them from across the café.[3]

A few months later, Omega learned of possible titanite deposits on the planet of Haariden, which was in the middle of a civil war over them. When the Galactic Senate decided to send a team of scientists to the planet to see how much titanite there really was and possibly end the war, Omega saw his opportunity. Realizing that the titanite, combined with the alazhi lotion he already had access to through one of his major land holdings on Thyferra, could allow him to create a monopoly on bacta, Omega took action. With the help of Senator Sano Sauro, and using the alias of Tic Verdun, he was put on the scientist team that made the trek to Haariden.[1]
Once on Haariden, the scientists discovered that a volcano would soon have a large eruption, and that this eruption would take the titanite hidden under the surface and bring it aboveground. It would then cause a massive tidal wave to cover the area, making the titanite easier to mine. They were unable to get off the planet due to the civil war, though, and were forced to keep moving to avoid military patrols, during which time Omega, in his guise as Verdun, acted as the group's scout. The Senate finally contacted the Jedi for help, and a team of Jedi, consisting of Kenobi, Skywalker, Soara Antana, and her Padawan, Darra Thel-Tanis, was dispatched to rescue the scientists. Upon learning of this, Omega contacted a group of soldiers while scouting ahead and paid them to attack the Jedi, then returned to the group.[1]
Later, after the Jedi found the scientists and began walking to their transport, the soldiers attacked them, wounding Thel-Tanis before the Jedi could escape. After finding shelter, Kenobi and Antana left the group to negotiate a truce with the soldiers. While questioning them, the two Jedi found out that Omega had paid them to attack the Jedi; they did not yet know, however, that Verdun was Omega. The soldiers agreed to leave them alone, and the group made it back to the transport safely.
- Omega later drugged Skywalker in front of a Sith cult, then revealed his true identity.
- Omega wants to find the Sith Lord.
- Omega returned to Haariden to map the titanite.
