Hello, I thought it was about time I created an account on here instead of just randomly littering discussion pages with my IP address.
I'm a 22 year old PhD student at Lancaster University, UK studying the ways public digital displays can support communities. I sing and play guitar, and can be found playing regularly at open mic nights around Lancaster. Other than that, I suppose my main hobby is Star Wars.
I've been a Star Wars fan as long as I can remember, and I've been hooked into the Expanded Universe since I read Heir to the Empire some time around 1998 or 1999, and since then I've read practically every book there is (with the exception of some children's stuff). I tend to prefer the Rogue Squadron books and the first five of Tim Zahn's books over a lot of the newer material, I guess I go for military campaign based stories rather than Jedi-based stories--the space battles always were my favourite bits of the films!
[edit] Rogue Squadron: A New Republic Military RPG
The main outlet for my geekery is a New Republic Military RPG called Rogue Squadron. It's not about that Rogue Squadron... the name is an unfortunate leftover from the site's unusual origins, which I won't bore you with here.
It's a message board based RPG in which you play a new recruit into a top secret taskforce fighting a secret war in the Unknown Regions against a err... suprising enemy. It's not the Yuuzhan Vong or the Chiss, I promise!
