Rain Thalo is a teenage user who loves Wookieepedia, and all things Star Wars. She is the nerdiest person she knows, except for her fellow Wookieepedians, who take the nerdy prize without contest. You can also find her on the Indiana Jones wiki; One Wiki to Rule Them All , the Lord of the Rings wiki; wiki Narnia; and the Get Smart Wiki. She is also an administrator at the Psych Wiki. Her main goal, as far as contributions go, is to repair/improve any bad grammar on this wiki, in addition to adding information to anything about which she happens to be particularly learned.
[edit] About Rain
Rain is an intelligent, witty, quirky, and opinionated teenager. She is a dedicated Christian (Catholic, actually, but it's all part of the same pool), and, like others, she tries to live that out everywhere, including online. She is doing her best to finish high school in style and get into college to become an archaeologist. In addition to Star Wars, her interests include Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, detective books/TV (especially Sherlock Holmes, Poirot, Columbo, Monk, and Psych), and a newfound love of musicals.

[edit] Interest in Star Wars
Rain's interest in Star Wars began when she saw the original trilogy when she was four years old. It took her a while to actually watch the first film all the way through. The first time she saw it, she didn't make it past Luke's search for R2. She was so scared when the Sand People attacked Luke that she ran away. When her father and older brother finally convinced her to watch the whole film, she fell in love with it and has loved the films, books, and all the rest ever since.
[edit] Origin of Name
The name "Rain Thalo" is a tribute to Rain's favorite Star Wars book, The Paradise Snare. She chose "Rain" because it often rained on Ylesia, and "Thalo" as a nod to Han and Bria, combining their last names of "Tharen" and "Solo."
[edit] Rain's View on Grand Admiral Thrawn
Thrawn's story is so extraordinary, it just can't be ignored. First, a non-human obtains the title of Grand Admiral, albeit clandestinely. If that doesn't spell "nigh impossible," Rain doesn't know what else does. Thrawn had to have been absolutely amazing to make it past the Emperor's anti-alien bigotry. Even more amazing than that, Thrawn was the greatest commander of all time. Force sensitivity has nothing to do with it. His lack of it just makes him even more amazing. He could predict what his enemies would do by studying their artwork. He truly knew how to tap into the psychology of not just a person but a species. His command of his troops is equally astounding. Unlike Palpatine and Vader, Thrawn didn't need to rely on fear to command his subordinates. He would award people even if they had failed if they showed initiative or some other admirable quality. Thrawn's men followed him out of loyalty, not fear. Had Thrawn survived Bilbringi, the Empire might have risen again.

[edit] Things about Star Wars that Rain Finds Puzzling and/or Weird
- The magic button on Padmé's starship(s). How does it know exactly what she wants it to do?
- Luke's whiny voice. Biggs is right. He'll never get anywhere with that attitude.
- Luke's gopher face. Seriously, when he's screaming "No!" like there's no tomorrow in Cloud City he really does look like a gopher.
- Are there socks in the Star Wars universe? And what would they be called, "boot liners"?
- Why is that once the publisher of the Star Wars books switched from Bantam Spectra to Del Rey, characters start getting knocked off? First it was Chewie, then Anakin, then Mara, and now Jacen. Who's next, Lando?
