    • When you get to the "Perhaps the archives are incomplete" bit, click the edit link to create the page. I'm trying to archive it, and I don't think he ever added the {{Goodnom}} template, so I don't know what to do with this thing. Hi! I'm working on some projects to improve the Google ranking for the big Entertainment wikis. Right now, the Wookieepedia main page comes up as #20 in the Google search results for "star wars", under things like "Star Wars ASCIImation" and "Star Wars in 30 seconds with bunnies".

One thing that helps with Google is to put the search term at the beginning of the page title -- that shows Google how important those words are to the site. It would make a big difference if the main page title said "Star Wars Wiki - Wookieepedia" instead of "Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki".

We could set it in MediaWiki:Pagetitle to say "Star Wars Wiki - Wookieepedia" for the main page, and then "Article - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki" for all the other pages. What do you think about trying it, and seeing if the search results get better? -- Danny (talk) 02:12, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! If it helps, we could just do it as a test for three weeks. We can switch the pagetitle for the main page, and then see if the Google rank improves after three weeks. That should be plenty of time for Google to index the new pagetitle. Right now, Wookiee is coming up as #20 -- we'll see if that goes up after the switch.

I've only got responses from a few admins, but there's a general feeling so far that we want the site to identify with "Wookieepedia" more than "Star Wars Wiki". Okay. Just to clarify -- this is only a change that would happen for the main page. Every other page would stay the same. This is just to trick Google into raising the ranking, so that the site appears higher on a search for "Star Wars". At the moment, the site has slipped even further, down to #24, which isn't a good trend.

What's with all the FA reordering? I know it's coincidental, but its quite annoying to see two of the FAs I've written get knocked back by up to 3 1/2 months - see Gunman and Moorja.
