To keep the conversation together in one place, if you leave a message here, I will reply here. Likewise, if I leave a message on your talk page, please reply there; I watchlist all talk pages that I edit.
If you are here to request information from The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, please post your request on the Forum:Entry requests page, not here.
Please do not use repeat or non-descriptive headings like "Request", as these headings make the table of contents difficult to navigate, and duplicate headers complicate section linking in the event I need to link a discussion from this page elsewhere. Thank you.
Copy-edit requests:
- If you are requesting a copy-edit, start a new section for each request. Please do not place new requests under old headings. Multiple articles should not be placed under a single heading unless they are requested simultaneously.
- If you want a pre-nom review or word count with the copy-edit, please explicitly say so in the request, otherwise I will perform a copy-edit only. Keep in mind that I am not a member of any reviewing panel and rarely conduct reviews, so my review might not be as thorough as what you would get from an Inquisitor or AgriCorps member. Adding a pre-nom review to your request may lengthen the response time.
- Effective immediately, I will post pre-nom reviews, including a statement that I have no objections (if that is the case). on the article talk page, not on this page. This way the review is easier for others to find and look at, and it eliminates the need for you to sort through irrelevant messages on this page. Outside of the nomination pages, discussion on improving an article technically belongs on the article talk page anyway. Replies to a request for copy-edit only will still come here.
- Unless I have a {{Vacation}} notice above, I will try to perform the copy-edit within 48 hours (72 hours if a review is requested also). If I need more time, I will let you know under the request as soon as possible.
- Although there are no limits (minimum or maximum) on the length of articles I will accept, keep in mind that shorter articles will generally receive quicker responses than longer articles. Extremely long articles (approx. 75 KB or larger) may be done over multiple days.
- If you leave an {{Inuse}} tag on the article, I will interpret your request as implicit permission to edit through said tag. If you don't want me to do this, please say so. I will use my own {{Inuse}} tag if I expect to spend more than 10–15 minutes on the article.

Inactive Users
Edit
Hey there, I have a question I was wondering if you could answer. If a user is inactive, yet never made a userpage (like Darth Adler) should I create their userpage and add the Inactive template or should I just leave it? Thanks! - Princess GLG 02:36, April 4, 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks! —Unsigned comment by Princess Leia Organa Solo-GLG (talk • contribs).
- I was writing a comment on your talk page when you posted here. :) I had seen your comments on Supreme's talk page and followed the discussion over to yours. —MJ— Training Room 02:41, April 4, 2013 (UTC)
Questions...
Edit
Hello! I was wondering if you could answer a couple other questions I have since you did a fabulous job at answering my last one. ;) I know that you should not create a talk page with just a talkheader. However, I was wondering about talkpages that have no content, only a talkheader and wookieproject tags (such as Talk:The Clone Wars: No Prisoners). Is it okay to make those or should they be marked for deletion? Also, if an inactive user has {{User left}} on their userpage should I still add {{Inactive}} or should I just leave it? And if a user is active and does not have a userpage should I add {{User}}? Sorry to bother you with so many questions, I just want to figure out how to do things. Thanks! - Princess GLG 18:56, April 4, 2013 (UTC)
- In order:
- Talk pages with just {{Talkheader}} and WookieeProject tags are OK; the WookieeProject tags are considered content.
- Whether to replace {{User left}} with {{Inactive}} is up to you. Some users do, some don't. I personally leave the page alone if it just has {{User left}} and nothing else. If the page is still displaying other stuff in addition to {{User left}} (particularly one or more user images), I would simply remove everything but the {{User left}} tag.
- In regard to active users without a user page, it depends on what they're doing. The purpose of {{User}} is to reduce the number of signature redlinks on talk/forum pages, so creating the page with {{User}} should generally only be done when the user is posting lots of messages on forum/talk pages, resulting in lots of redlinks. Conversely, if they're the type of user that just makes minor edits to random articles here and there, then it's better to leave it a redlink for now and let the user decide what to do with it.
- Any other questions? —MJ— Training Room 20:37, April 4, 2013 (UTC)
BJODN
Edit
You archived the old talk page before I could respond. :/
Anyways, I have decided to kill the project. I asked Cavalier One to delete the page but he has not responded. So if you would, please delete it. Fe Nite (talk) 15:14, April 5, 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. It's deleted. In the future, if you want a subpage of your user page deleted, you can just tag it with {{Delete|user request}}, and the next admin to go through speedy deletion candidates will take care of it. —MJ— Training Room 20:04, April 5, 2013 (UTC)
User subpages
Edit
Would you mind if I changed include subpages to true on the subpage you gave me a link to?Supreme Emperor (talk) 15:52, April 5, 2013 (UTC)
- Done. The includesubpages parameter defaults to true, so I just removed it. —MJ— Holocomm 20:07, April 5, 2013 (UTC)
Image captions
Edit
Okay, so I did come up with another question: What does one link in image captions? Do you only link to things that aren't mentioned elsewhere in the article? Or is there some other way it is done? Thanks yet again. - Princess GLG 20:22, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
- I'm frankly not sure what the rule is on this, or if we even have a rule. I've never linked in image captions in my own articles, and never been told "that's wrong", but I've seen others link everything they can and not be told it's wrong either. I would suggest either asking someone else or posting your question in the Senate Hall forum. —MJ— Council Chambers 01:19, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
Expression error
Edit
Hey Master Jonathan, you seem to know your stuff pretty good so I'll ask you a question that has been driving me crazy. What exactly would cause an error such as the one that follows: Expression error: Unexpected < operator.
I have been trying to do a massive addition problem using expressions. When finished it would contain around 53 expressions. However, when I got around to 40 or so it gave me this error. If you can, please help. Fe Nite (talk) 18:28, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
- That extremely unhelpful message indicates a syntax error of some sort, which can have all kinds of causes. If you can give me a link to a live example of this error, I can try to diagnose it for you. —MJ— Holocomm 19:00, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
- OK. After looking at your page, I have two notes: First, be aware that PAGESINCAT is considered to be an "expensive" parser function, and thus you can only have a total of 100 unique calls to it and other expensive parser functions (#ifexist and PAGESIZE) on a single page. You currently have 55 unique calls to expensive functions, so it's not a problem yet, but is something that you should be aware of. Second, I noticed that you are using nested calls to #expr; this is never desirable and should be avoided at all costs. All calls to #expr, except the outermost call, can be replaced with simple parentheses, which is likely to improve performance slightly by reducing both the amount of system resources and the amount of time needed to render the page. —MJ— Holocomm 21:24, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
- Nesting one {{#expr: call inside another {{#expr: call. For example, {{#expr: 5 / {{#expr: 5 + 3}} }} can and should be replaced with {{#expr: 5 / (5 + 3)}} to reduce system resource usage and rendering time. —MJ— Council Chambers 19:33, April 22, 2013 (UTC)
Picture Removed
Edit
Hello, I would like to know why did you remove the picture that I posted of the Makrin Creeper-SpectraMando —Unsigned comment by SpectraMando (talk • contribs). 23:15, April 18, 2013
- Please read Wookieepedia:Images, particularly the big red box at the top and the "Deletion" section. You should be able to figure out what you did wrong from that. Also, please read Wookieepedia:Signature policy, which states that "You must have a link back to your userpage in your signature." Your signature does not currently comply with this requirement, so please fix it. —MJ— War Room 01:22, April 19, 2013 (UTC)
Tractor Beam Edit
Edit
The "should not be confused" statement wasn't my idea, but came from an older edit. I actually just moved it to a more logical spot. My edit was intended to address the statement that tractor beams are magnetic, a statement made with no provided reference. —Unsigned comment by DarthSideoftheMoon (talk • contribs).
- I'm aware of that as I did a little digging into the page history before reverting; the edit summary was simply my reason for removing it. I didn't mean to imply that it came from you, as I saw that the IP editor was actually the one who added it. :) —MJ— Holocomm 00:30, April 20, 2013 (UTC)
- Gotcha, and I see now a glimpse into the meticulous nature of your approach to this Wiki... What does your sock drawer look like? DarthSideoftheMoon (talk) 18:56, April 23, 2013 (UTC)
- Very messy. :P I make no attempt to match socks or neatly fold them when I put them up; I just dump the whole pile into the drawer. The only effort I make is separating the white cotton socks from the black technical running socks, which is sufficient because all of the white socks are identical to each other, and the same for the black socks. In other words, I'm a typical 26-year-old bachelor. My bedroom in general is a mess, though it's much better than it was five years ago. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 19:58, April 23, 2013 (UTC)
Reef Fortress
Edit
Hey there, I was wondering if you could do a copy-edit and a pre-nom on Reef Fortress for me. I did see your notification above, but I'm in no hurry to get this done so, by all means, have a good time at the amusement park. - Princess GLG 13:18, April 26, 2013 (UTC)
- Sure. I might be able to get to this at the motel tonight, otherwise expect a response on Sunday or Monday. —MJ— War Room 16:26, April 26, 2013 (UTC)
- Bah. All the discussion about the teasers posted at the park for what appears to be a big new attraction for next year has occupied my attention since Saturday, and so this slipped my mind. I'll make a point of scheduling time to do this tonight. —MJ— Holocomm 20:59, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
- Done. Objections are on the article's talk page. Please continue the discussion there. —MJ— Council Chambers 03:02, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
WOTM
Edit
Hey MJ, just wanted to say thanks for supporting my nomination for WOTM last month. I really appreciate it. Supreme Emperor (talk) 14:05, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
Article Quotes
Edit
Hey there, I have yet another question for you. I have been having a bit of difficulty finding quotes for Reef Fortress Island, another article I am planning to nom at some point, and was wondering if I could use things that a person thought that wasn't really dialogue. An example would be Tenel Ka thinking: She had always thought of Reef Fortress Island as her summer home, a place to enjoy the warm sun, the surf, and the ocean breezes. But in truth, it was a stronghold, a safe haven in time of danger. Is there a way to use this as a quote? Thanks! - Princess GLG 11:51, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
- Per Wookieepedia:Manual_of_Style#Allowable_quotes, "thoughts are not considered quotable material" for in-universe sections of an article. They can only be used in the BTS section, but must "be reserved strictly for illustrative purposes". I believe the intent behind the latter restriction was to limit such quotes to where they are being used to illustrate something in the BTS itself. So there's really no way to use that as a quote. However, you don't have to have a quote for every section if they're not available, so if what's in there is all that's available and fits, then it's good as is. —MJ— War Room 19:32, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
Wedge and the new FF
Edit
Hey MJ; nothing new at all. Just a mention of him in a listing for Red Squadron, and a brief mention of him teaming up with Luke and Biggs to attack the trench. I'm getting the feeling that these new FFs will be very much rehashing the movies and TCW with little original info. - Sir Cavalier of One
(Squadron channel) 19:44, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. If you add more to the list in the future, it would be helpful if you could note "no new info" or something to that effect in the edit summary if that is indeed the case. :) Thanks! —MJ— Training Room 19:46, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
Cuipernam copy edit
Edit
Hey MJ, whenever you have some time, could you do a copy edit of Second skirmish in Cuipernam for me? Don't worry about the inuse tag. Thanks, Supreme Emperor (talk) 14:51, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
