ReplyingEdit

Actually, it's easier to leave messages on each other's talk pages, that way everyone knows they have a message or reply. GroceryBagGrocery Store 04:27, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the welcome! As far as replying, that's why I said to leave a message here if I don't reply somewhere else, and I intend to do the same for conversations here. It's just to make it easier to keep track of what's being said. I assume that's OK. Also, I copied the formatting code for that message off of User talk:SavageBob although I rewrote the actual message. I don't have any clue how to do something like that myself. If somebody could point to the info on that kind of thing I'd appreciate it. Master Jonathan 04:38, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Copyedit request! Edit

Hey Master Jonathan, good to have you with us!

I've checked over some of your contributions and liked what I saw, plus I noticed you seem willing to copyedit articles. Now I dunno what kind of Star Wars and Expanded Universe stuff you've been reading, but I'm preparing to nominate Alema Rar for FA in a couple of weeks. I just need to do the Personality and Traits, then she's done, but I also reckon she needs some more copyediting. I was wondering if you would consider a copyedit of her? I would be much obliged. I've gone through her once myself but as the author it gets a bit difficult spotting your own mistakes.

Don't worry if not, I can bug an inquisitor probably, I was just thinking maybe you wanted a specific task/project. There's no rush on the copyedit, so whenever if you want to do it.

Thanks, Harrar 23:55, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

  • I know next to nothing about the New Jedi Order era, but I would be more than willing to do a basic copyedit. You should probably have someone more familiar with the subject of the article check for factual errors though, as I won't catch those. :) Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 00:00, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
    • Ah well, if you go for it, then maybe you'll learn something! She spans pretty much the whole era, so there's plenty of info. See what you think, it's no concern if you're not up for it, cos I know it's always a bit foreign to read about something you're maybe not that keen on or unaware of. Up to you man, thanks for the quick response! Harrar 00:04, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
      • No problem. I wasn't doing anything right now anyway except patrolling recent changes, so I've already started. The intro and "Early years" is already done, with a couple of edits in each. Since my bowling league cancelled tonight due to the weather, I'll probably get most, if not all, of the article done tonight. Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 00:09, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
        • You've really done a fantastic job on Alema Rar, Jonathan. Really grateful, and thanks for doing it so fast! A highly commendable service I owe you a Wookieepedia-based favour. Hope you enjoyed reading it :> Harrar 20:03, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

YunEdit

Hello, Master Jonathan. Could you unleash your copy-editing POWAH on Yun? QuiGonJinnThere's always a bigger fish. 14:31, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Subpage projects Edit

Hey there. I just wanted to let you know that your subpage projects are showing up in the category pages we have for Wookieepedia's articles. To prevent this from happening, you should remove the eras tag(s) from any subpage projects, and in the category links, you should add in a semi-colon right in front of the word "Category." Thanks. Cylka-talk- 09:16, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

SWCCG links Edit

Do the Internet Archive links for decipher.com work for you? You cleaned up an article I created because I didn't link to that site. When I click on them, it's either blank or says "We're sorry, access to this and that has been blocked by the site owner via robots.txt." That's why I didn't link it to Internet Archive, but to SWCCG Player's Committee site. If this is a universal problem, the template for linking to SWCCG cards should be changed. Dark Father 00:11, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Nope, the Archive links don't work for me. I didn't think to check that before "correcting" the template. It does indeed appear to be a universal problem, so it sounds like the template may need to be changed. Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 00:21, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

My theory about T3-M4 Edit

Hello,

You may not share any belief in my musings about T3-M4, yet please show enough respect not to delete the whole thing.

Kindest regards,

another user Unsigned comment by 85.96.69.158 (talk • contribs).

  • Sorry. I was looking at the diff, misread it, and thought you were removing someone else's comment, so I reverted it. I reverted back as soon as I realized what I had done. However, I was not the user who removed it originally, and now I see why it was done. The talk page is for discussing how to improve the article, not for general discussion about the subject of the article—that belongs on another site, such as the official SW.com forums. It seems that since I began typing this, Grunny has re-removed it for that reason. This is explained in the blue box at the top of that talk page. If you wish to simply discuss a character, please take it to another site as such discussion does not belong here. Thank you. Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 01:41, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I hear ya. Thanks for the explanation. Keep up the good work btw, and *do* consider changing your username for the sake of modesty :S

How the Inq works Edit

Since our NB thread was deleted, cutting short my response, I'm going to post it here for you: I think you totally missed the pretense behind my sarcasm-laden response. As an Inquisitor, I don't know owe anyone or any article a review. If I agree to review something you or someone else has done, it is because I've agreed to sacrifice my own free time out of my own generosity, and, given how many noms we have to deal with at any one time nowadays, you might consider yourself fortunate when someone does look at your work. I was going to look at your article originally, but, God forbid, I forgot. But when you started laying into me with demands and then threats to look at your article, that's where I draw the line and cease communication with you. You aren't entitled to a review from the Inquisitorius just because you write an article. That's something I'd suggest you learn right now before you get yourself into further trouble. And I would really suggest you don't take the same tone with others that you've taken with me. You can ask someone to look at a nom and have patience until they do. Do not demand someone to review your work. This ties into Wookieepedia's Civility guidelines. Toprawa and Ralltiir 02:12, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

  • OK, I understand that now and will be patient. If someone had explained that earlier, we probably never would have gotten to this point. However, my main issue was not the lack of the review, but the lack of any communication. I don't see where I issued "demands" or "threats" to look at the articles. My second-to-last note on your talk page (beginning "Uh, have you forgotten about this?") was simply a request to know what was going on. That probably would have been a good time to explain the above to me. However, I received absolutely no response to that note, and that is why I left the last note and ultimately complained on the NB—not for not doing the reviews, but for completely ignoring a legitimate request for info. That's my main issue here: that you ignored me and did not even attempt to explain the above to me. I just felt that there was no excuse for not responding at all. However, as I said at the beginning of this post, I understand what's going on now and will wait patiently for the reviews. By the way, I'm open to getting the reviews from any Inq, so if you know you're going to be busy for a while, and you know an Inq who has some free time available that's willing to do this, then let them know. Thank you for the explanation and may the Force be with you! Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 02:36, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Copyedit request Edit

Hey, if you find some time within the next days, could you copyedit Yeeru Chivkyrie? Pranay Sobusk ~ Talk 17:54, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Sure. I'll probably get to it tonight after bowling, but if I don't get to it then, I'll certainly get it done tomorrow. Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 19:59, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi dude Edit

Hey Master Jonathan,

I was wondering if you would be able to run your trained eye over Daeshara'cor, who I've just finished work on. As always there's no rush and it doesn't matter if you're too busy.

Also, out of interest, have you ever thought about getting involved in Inqing or as an Agricorps member? Since your pointers on stuff like not putting commas after "and" and the use of semi-colons I've kept them out of my prose to the best of my knowledge, not only on the Wook but with academic work as well. I think putting that knowledge into the wider domain could be very beneficial to the site! I'm not an Inq so this isn't recruitment or anything, don't worry.

Anyhoo, bye

-- Harrar 15px (Villip) 18:02, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Sure, no problem. I just finished Dark Tide II: Ruin last night, so she's still pretty fresh in my mind. I should get to it today. As far as Inqing or the AC, I (currently) have no interest in that as I've barely started my first two FAs and rarely give reviews, but I might be interested in coming up with a page on proper use of the comma, similar to the one we already have for the dash. I'll see what I can do with that. Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 18:39, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
