CategoriesEdit

Remember to categorize your articles. I know it can be a little difficult to know which article goes in which category, but you should browse the categories to get a feel of which it should go in. -- SFH 00:46, 18 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Republic article's "Behind the scenes"Edit

Why must you constantly add in that worthless paragraph? It has nothing to do with the Republic. And if you hate what Lucas did, don't put it into the articles. Admiral J. Nebulax 21:34, 19 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • I don't know if it's worthless, but anyway it's worth questioning :P I added it again and again only because I thought the save function did not work properly. MoffRebus 21:38, 19 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Skirmish Edit

Thank you for adding in your "behind the scenes" thoughts on my Skirmish in Mos Eisley article. Haha, I see above that Nebulax is giving you a hard time as he often will. Thanks again. Wolfdog 04:29, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • You are welcome. I am also happy when someone other contribute in my articles. Games are underestimated and we can gather significant information when putting them together. MoffRebus 15:08, 1 Jan 2006 (UTC)

ClaimEdit

You claim you started Galaxy, however I copied that article from Wikipedia and you only added to it. Same with The Galaxy. Were you the creator of the article on Wikipedia? -- Riffsyphon1024 23:49, 9 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • Yup, I am referring to Wikipedia, back when I looked Star Wars stuff there. Later I saw the Galaxy article was copied from there. I felt honoured MoffRebus 00:09, 10 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • It was going to happen anyway, considering it was already a template of what we've expanded on. I wouldn't get too excited. -- Riffsyphon1024 18:29, 10 Jan 2006 (UTC)
      • That's not a reason not to feel nice though MoffRebus 20:46, 10 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Pointless ArticlesEdit

Please don't make anymore fake, pointless articles like "Heavy weapon" or "Mech units" again. JimRaynor55 00:58, 10 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • They are nor pointless nor fake, since they are classifications from Galactic Battlegrounds. So I can't promise because I don't know which you would describe as such in the future MoffRebus 01:05, 10 Jan 2006 (UTC)
    • That is game mechanics then, and if you haven't noticed, we are attempting to merge a bunch of mechanics with Star Wars: Battlefront II. -- Riffsyphon1024 18:30, 10 Jan 2006 (UTC)
      • I thought they could be game mechanics, but the information of the 'Database' feature of the game, was given in the form of some background history which explained, more or less, the advance of warfare and technology. Those descriptions made the classifications more important and interesting than some list that would go in the game's article, and definitely not 'pointless' or 'fake'. I will merge them in the game article then. MoffRebus 20:30, 10 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Bryar Pistol Edit

Howdy Moff. You seem to be one of the go-to guys when it comes to questions about Dark Forces weapons, so I'd love your input on this. Do you think the Bryar Blaster Pistol and the Modified Bryar Pistol are the same gun, or different models in the Bryar line? I haven't quite worked up the courage to just go ahead and merge the two articles.... SM-716 02:25, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

  • This has also confused me but I hoped there wold be a solution here. I was wrong. To me, there is indication that they are different. Bryar Blaster Pistol seems to come out as such, while Modified Bryar Pistol is just the Bryar Rifle sawed. If you look at the images, the MBP has a clip stuck on its left side, while there is no room for that in the pic of the BBP. Notice also that the name is inconsistent. However information and description hints that it's the same thing. MoffRebus 10:23, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey there Edit

I'm from South Carolina (sadly). What brings it up? Thanos6 08:43, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Ah, the Greek thing. Yeah, I get tons of Greek people asking me that, sometimes they even greet me in Greek. :) Actually, I named myself after a Marvel Comics supervillain, see HERE. Thanos6 10:36, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Relentless confusion Edit

Perhaps you have better sources than I, but my sources don't explain which Relentless was at Gerrard V (though they did indicate the ones from Tatooine Manhunt, Otherspace, and the Thrawn Trilogy were the same ship.). Maybe you can help straighten out the confusion over on Talk:Relentless? Thanks, —Silly Dan (talk) 13:32, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Gungan war datesEdit

  • Hi. Thanks for your message. The 3020 BBY date is mentioned at the Gungans article, (which has sources). The 3,032 BBY is implied at sites like Otoh Gunga, which was founded at the end of the War of Gungan Tribes 3,000 years before the battle of Naboo, making it approximately 3,032 BBY. I'm pretty sure I actually saw this last date written in one article somewhere, but I'm not sure.
Basically what I've done with these dates, along with many others, is taken them from articles all over Wookiepedia, including "specific years" pages, (like 1000 BBY). I think it's a good opportunity for us to go to the relevant articles from the timeline and do some "fact-checking" in Wookiepedia. So your question for me is exactly what I hoped would happen.
Furthermore, I've seen contradictary dates in several articles. For example, the crash of the Chu'unthor on Dathomir had a different date in three different articles:Chu'unthor, Dathomir, and the Witches of Dathomir! I brought it to some people's attention, and I just read a post where the proper date was confirmed with a proper source, (The NEC and PotJ list it as 340 BBY). So, in my opinion, this thorough timeline has demonstrated a practical function for Wookiepedia. Again thanks for your message! Jaywin 12:50, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
  • Thanks for straightening that out! I'll go fix it in the article, the "year" page, and the timeline. Jaywin 13:25, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Mandalorian WarsEdit

Please explain your recent changes to the article on the talk page or I will continue to revert it. Your recent slash-and-burn edits are unncecessary and not well written. And I do not appreciate you copying and pasting the entire 'origins' section verbatim into another article. I wrote that entire section from scratch just a few days ago. I know this is a wiki, but even here there are limits to how much you should take credit for another person's work...--Sentry 09:38, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, it has been a year since you last started removing bits of the Origins section, but I might as well add comments here. As for using the word butcher to describe your edits, that was an overreaction and I apologize, but your edit added nothing to the article and it removed a number of sentences that provided necessary context to the text that you left behind.
I still consider that the sentences I removed did not harm your section. The explanation was and is that the 'context' is too long to exist as it is in the main article and the previous Mandalore and the war of Dxun are not relative at all; or else we should put a perilepsis of the Clone Wars in the Galactic Civil War article... Sorry again.
What is too long? A lot of people on this wiki seem to have this bizarre notion that internal links should be used as a crutch to explain away all of the holes in an article. I, for one, believe that every article should be as self-contained as possible in order to make this wiki at least somewhat accessible to Star Wars neophytes, otherwise we are just preaching to the choir and that is pointless. I don't think that four brief paragraphs providing context for the Mandalorians' actions during the war are in any way overkill. If you think that the 'Origins' section in the Mandalorian Wars article is bad, I shudder to think what you would do to the Jedi Civil War, which is a Featured Article. As for providing a brief summary of "the previous Mandalore and the war of Dxun", they are vitally important to the Mandalorian Wars. Mandalore the Indomitable's actions tied the Mandalorians to the Sith while the Fourth Battle of Onderon explains exactly how Mandalore the Ultimate came to power and why Dxun was such an important location for the Mandalorians. Yes, this information can be copied and placed elsewhere, but there is no reason to remove it from the Mandalorian Wars article; detail is a good thing when attempting to describe an entire war and all of its intricacies.–Sentry 20:13, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Alright, after thinking this over, I just wanted to let you know that I regard you with no ill will. I don't want this to get personal. I know that you and I have had a few tiffs in the past, but I think they are all the result of bad communication. That is why I get frustrated at times. You tend to make major modifications to articles without discussing the changes first on the talk page. I am not just defending the article because I wrote it. I am not that petty. I simply believe that the major contributors to an article should be given the chance to discuss important changes. If you had brought up a discussion about the 'Origins' section on the talk page, I would have been more than happy to discuss it with you. Instead, we are forced to communicate through edit summaries, and frankly, that just doesn't work. Lastly, you were correct that the 'Origins' section was bloated the first time that you sliced it up last year. After you moved the text to Mandalore the Indomitable, I cut it down. I agree that it can probably be condensed further and I will make an attempt to cut it down to three paragraphs. Cheers, Sentry 22:05, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Danuta, et alEdit

Yes, I was going to post a comment on here anyway thanking you for the Death Star plans expansions. You surely know how I felt when I saw that the rebels facing the 501st Legion received sole credit for recovering them!

You have not played through Jedi Knight? Such a shame. After the duel with Jerec ends, the next cutscene is of a Lamba-class shuttle arriving in on an urban planet (Coruscant?) with two TIE escorts. Kyle descends with Sariss, whom we have not seen or heard from since Kyle decided to kill Jan but refused to join Jerec. Sariss says that their spies bring word of a small rebel uprising on Danuta (there is the mentioning). Kyle replies, "I have no time for petty uprisings. Extinguish them painfully." She responds, "Yes, Emperor." Kyle then ascends a long staircase, sits upon a throne, and after a moment retrieves a small holoprojector. It is the one we saw in the first cutscene of the game, of his father telling him how very proud he is (a picture of it appears early on the Kyle Katarn page). After replaying the first bit, Kyle appears obviously pained and drops it on the ground, smashing it with his boot. Wonderful.-BaronGrackle 00:47, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

The whills/Yoda/SupershadowEdit

Hey. what was your source for the topps card not being named for the Whills? I'm pretty certain it wa. Thanks HavetStorm 17:53, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

I just know that Yoda's species is identified with the Whills by Supershadow, so I find it hard that a Topps card would be so misled. MoffRebus 18:12, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Sequel trilogy Edit

Rather than get into a revert war, can I just ask you to give a source for the idea that the Thrawn Trilogy "officially" takes the place of the sequel trilogy over on Talk:Sequel trilogy? I've never heard this fact outside of Wookieepedia. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:25, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

"Seven Dark Jedi" nameEdit

I've just looked through an online copy of the Jedi Knight game manual and posted some thoughts on the Seven Dark Jedi talk page. You originally suggested it might be a conjectural name; I'd appreciate your input on it now. Hi MoffRebus!!!Edit

Images for X-wing articlesEdit

The strategy guide has got some black and white renders of missions next to some of the walkthroughs (the attack on the Talon, the death of Breth Gart, etc). Being black and white, they're not great, but they're canon and in the absense of any other pictures do you think it's worth me scanning them in? Green Tentacle (Talk) 12:05, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

  • I've put a bunch of the better ones up which you can see here, including a couple from Stele Chronicles. There might be some more to come, but most just show fighters in combat without any named ships or anything. Green Tentacle (Talk) 12:28, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Hey. I found a trading card with a colour version of the Intrepid picture which I've put up instead of the black and white one. The only thing is I had to blow it up with the scanner (a lot, it was tiny) but the black and white one was already a full page in the strategy guide so it came out clearer. Have a look and see what you think. We can always revert it if the old one looked better. Green Tentacle (Talk) 17:00, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
      • Yeah, the original probably did look better. LucasArts did render them in colour, just the strategy guide was printed in black and white. The reason that version looks Photoshopped is probably because of me trying to make it look clearer after blowing it up from about 2cm x 3cm! I'll revert it back to the old picture, but I'll keep an eye open for any larger versions of the colour one which might scan better. By the way, I created those articles on the ATK shuttles; ATK 253, ATK 592, ATK 664. Green Tentacle (Talk) 22:28, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Re: Deleted transportsEdit

  • Yeah, I will but I think they were in the next mission (the one where you rescue Biggs Darklighter's X-wing), not that one. The ones in the Ojai mission had the standard Lambda, Kappa, etc names. I'll hopefully get around to them tonight but it might be tomorrow. Green Tentacle (Talk) 09:21, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I played both missions to double check the strategy guide; the four transports that attacked the Jeffrey in T2M6 (Ambush in the Cron Drift) are Lambda, Kappa, Omicron and Sigma, the shuttles that attack Bigg's X-wing in T2M7 (Protect a Disabled X-wing) are ATK 253, ATK 592 and ATK 664 (no dashes in either the game or the guide). Replay the missions if you want to check. Green Tentacle (Talk) 20:52, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

PriamEdit

Hey, MoffRebus. Do you have any idea what the bit about the Imperial counterstrike from Priam is about? It's been in the article since the start but I just checked the capture mission and they don't launch a counterstrike in that and I can't recall the Priam appearing again. It's been copied into Battle of Kalla VII too and I was wondering if we should remove it. Green Tentacle (Talk) 22:49, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Cheers. I'll take it out, then. I can always put it back if it shows up during Imperial Pursuit or B-wing. Green Tentacle (Talk) 15:18, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

FrigatesEdit

Hey. On Frigate, you added the line: Historically, space frigates evolved from aquatic war vessels called Frigates. Their purpose was to protect aquatic transports from the Destroyer warships; I was wondering what the canon backing for this was (something in a game or manual?), or if it was just based on real-world usage? Thanks! --McEwok 22:12, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much for your reply here!! Do you know how I could get hold of the direct quote from the Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds "encyclopedia", by any chance? Thanks! --McEwok 22:54, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Thanks again, all the same!! --McEwok 23:33, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Source request Edit

I've been sourcing Pre-Republic era and came across something that I didn't know the source for that you added; I was wondering if you could tell me or just add it to the article. Specifically, the part about the Devaronians entering space 300,000 BBY and the Coruscanti 200,000 BBY. - Lord Hydronium 07:54, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the response. In trying to unravel this mystery, I turned up the following: The user who added the info on the Devaronians to the page you got it from seems to have gotten it from Timetales, which states it's conjecture from Galaxy Guide 4; GG4 doesn't have anything that I can see regarding that, so I'm calling that one a bust. Same thing with the Taung, again traced back to conjecture from Timetales. So I'm deleting some and tweaking the rest, but thanks for helping me get to the bottom of it. - Lord Hydronium 10:48, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Revan RevertEdit

Fair enough. I think it looked better in the main biography section, but Wookieepedia policy is Wookieepedia policy I suppose. (Ulicus 09:59, 9 March 2007 (UTC))

That's how I've always seen it done too but I'm not sure I agree with it. I mean, if it's non-canon (as opposed to ambigiously canon), does it really matter if it contradicts anything else in the article? It didn't happen. Oh well, I appreciate the quick response, cheers. Sith Jedi StatuesEdit

Hey. You wrote in the article that the statues are only vulnerable to lightsaber attacks. Can you provide a source for that, please, since the game itself makes no mention of this, nor do the manual. And there are no other sources in the article.

I expect this is a misunderstanding due to the fact that the lightsaber is the only weapon you can use on the Dromund Kaas levels. But this has been canonically shown to be because of the dark side aura of the planet or Dark Force Temple. Since no other weapons work at all, it is conjecture to say that only the lightsaber could affect them, since we don't know that. DarthMRN 12:34, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Sourcing the Human article Edit

Would you like to add some footnotes to the Human article? It's currently the main obstacle to making it a featured article. I'm sourcing what I can from my own memory, but as you've written more of the text than I have, you'll be able to source much more of it than I can. —Silly Dan (talk) 23:35, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Well, the origins and humanocentrism sections are probably the ones which need the most sourcing, so any help there would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, —Silly Dan (talk) 22:30, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin Edit

ScreenshotsEdit

If you are going to upload images from games (ie. Devastator.gif) for use in an article, not the article about the game itself, then please take screenshots without the HUD/score/lives remaining, etc information present. That information in the image makes it OOU and therefore inappropriate for use in an IU article. Also, it's pretty much agreed upon that we never, never want to use images in GIF format. You should either make them JPG or, if less than 256 color, PNG format. Thanks. - JMAS 14:26, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

RE: Divad and CorvettesEdit

I see you've already added the corvettes. For future reference the timeline as shown in the Strategy Guide goes like this:

  • T3M11: Defend the Independence
  • Independence arrives at Yavin IV, transfers Red, Gold and Blue Squadrons to Yavin Base, squadrons augmented by Wedge, Biggs and co.
  • Falcon arrives and they start to analyse the plans.
  • Farlander gives Luke a crash course in X-wings.
  • Death Star arrives.
  • T3M12: Begin Death Star Assault (attack on the comsat to buy time for analysing plans)
  • Farlander returns to base.
  • T3M13: Attack Death Star Surface (the hangars and turbolasers one)
  • Farlander returns to base, transferred to Gold Squadron.
  • T3M14: Death Star Trench Run/Battle of Yavin as shown in Episode IV

Hopefully that's all covered in the relevant articles now. Green Tentacle (Talk) 18:30, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Death Star II plans Edit

  • Hey, I thought I would direct you to the category "Acquiring the Death Star II plans" on the Death Star II page. I put that together a while ago with the intent of creating the Death Star II plans page you're working on now. I was directed by the admins to just put it on there, though your page is needed as well. I believe my category to be pretty damned in-depth, and just about the best collective amount of info on it you're going to find. Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:32, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
    • I'll try to get most of it over to your page. And I did know the difference between "category" and "section." My bad! =D Toprawa and Ralltiir 23:44, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
      • Ahhh, yeah I will, don't worry. I've been meaning to get to it. I've got a number of different Wookieepedia projects I'm working on at once. You understand. I'll see if I can't get that started this evening. Thanks for the reminder. Toprawa and Ralltiir 17:29, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
        • All right, I've begun preliminary work on the Death Star II plans page. I'll be contributing more as time allows. I thought I would ask for your opinion on what I believe to be an error on Star Wars: X-wing Alliance's part. The "revelation" cutscene where the Death Star plans are first decrypted by the Alliance, and Zaletta comments, "It's, it's plans to a new Death Star!" (or something along those lines), I believe, is shown at an incorrect time during the game. If memory serves correctly, that cutscene comes immediately after the First Battle of Bothawaui/the Suprosa raid. According to the Shadows of the Empire novel, the plans were never decrypted that early. From the Suprosa, they were taken immediately to the safehouse on Kothlis, where the special Bothan team attempted to decrypt it. One Bothan decrypts it for a moment before the group of bounty hunters blast into the building, forcing the lone Bothan to escape the planet where he is transferred to the Razor, then transferred to the Mercury, and then to the Independence, etc. The true realization could not have come about until that Bothan and the plans hecarried were delivered to the Independence, meaning that cutscene should have come after that level. Nice Work! Edit

Hello Moff Rebus,

I noticed some of the pages that you created, and wanted to congratulate you on your work, especially creating the 1138 article. I am obsessed with how Lucas used this number in his works. I am a new user, but I have used Wookiepedia for a while as background information. I've edited a very small amount, and hope later on I can make contributions comparing to yours.

Droid stunnerEdit

I noticed that you were the original creator of the article Droid stunner, which is why I am asking you this. I have not played the Episode I game and am therefore unfamiliar with the topic. However, based on other contributions of this user, I am questioning the validity of his moving the article to Emp grenade lancher. It may be perfectly fine, but it may not, so I wanted someone more familiar than User:Z-wing? at wiki policy and more familiar than me with subject matter to look at the article and see if that is truly where it needs to be. hit me back or just make an executive decision. PS- It takes forever to save or preview anything on here. Might be time to archive your talk page and start a new one. :)

Trask UlgoEdit

Your edit was fine except for the fact that you took sourced information in a paragraph and put it into an unsourced sentence. That article is a GA, so everything needs to be sourced. If you're going to continue to do edits in that way, then at least, please, source them properly instead of leaving unsourced fragments behind. Thanks, Greyman(Talk) 16:03, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Rebus, I know you have a reputation as having a chip on your shoulder and an attitude when interacting with users, both admin and non-admin, so I'll make this really short: Keep your attitude out of the edit summaries; don't break up sourced material into unsourced paragraphs, and then think it is up to others to clean up your mess; clean up your own messes and avoid problems in the future. If you continue with the attitude, I will block you temporarily. If you continue to leave messes, and expect others to clean them up, I will block you. Understood? This is your only warning on both of those accounts, so I would strongly recommend that you heed that advice. Greyman(Talk) 16:12, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
    • My warning still stands. Just because you feel that you clean up "others" messes, gives you no right to drop a pile onto an article an expect anyone to clean it up. Again, my warning still stands. This is the final thing I have to say about this situation. And the fact that you think I would block you simply for attempting to communicate in a non-attitude, sorta-civil kinda way, shows just how little you understand what being an administrator is all about. I don't take things personally, but I will block you if you go against warnings previously given. Greyman(Talk) 16:40, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
      • I can't help how you feel, or if you perceive what I wrote to you as being "harsh," and frankly I couldn't be bothered. I told you I don't take this stuff personally, but apparently that didn't get read. You'll notice that even though you have now, twice, attempted to goad me into doing something stupid like blocking you without cause, I didn't; you're not blocked, since you have heeded the warnings I gave you. Nevertheless, I appreciate you taking the time to attempt to explain your thoughts to me, and know that this specific interaction is over as far as I concerned. Kalidor CrescentEdit

Hey. I'm doing some work on the Kalidor Crescent and I just wanted to check where this came from. I can't find the Clone Wars reference or prerequisite quote in any of the sources on the list. Having said that, I only have the story part of The Farlander Papers, so it might be elsewhere in that. Can you remember where it was from? Thanks. Green Tentacle (Talk) 16:05, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

  • Cool. I'll try to get somebody to double check The Farlander Papers to see if that's where it's from. Green Tentacle (Talk) 18:27, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Shadows Edit

Hey, nice work in the Shadows entry! I'm just so glad I seem to have inspired people to actually let others know what happens in that tale!--Artist Walser 00:34, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Re: Jake Farrell Edit

Hey MoffRebus. While I agree that there is a visual similarity, that doesn't actually mean that Jake Farrell is based on the Green Squadron pilot. Currently there is a question posted at the Holocron regarding this matter, and until there is some sort of confirmation, I don't believe it should be stated that Jake Farrell is definitely based on the Green Squadron pilot. And as for the Gamma Base characters, while the statement isn't sourced just yet, the production staff admitted to using the footage from the film, while we don't have that same information for Jake Farrell and the Green Squadron pilot. The Wookieepedia admin and Inq member who FA'd Green Squadron pilot was careful to check all sources to see if there was similar information. Cylka-talk- 01:26, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

The Maw Edit

Hey, just noticed you added Category:Xim's empire to The Maw. Any evidence for this? C1k3 00:25, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Huh. OK, out it goes then. C1k3 02:05, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

ContestEdit

Darth Bane has recently come up against Kratos on the Deadlisetst warrior wiki. He is being killed in the polls, but discussions count too. I have made my case. A wookieepedian such as yourself would contribute greatly to the argue ment. Please help Darth Bane kill Kratos.User:Revanthereformer1138

Andowyne Edit

Hey man, do you remember which page in The Essential Atlas mentions Andowyne? Adamwankenobi 14:37, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
