Sikon, welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wookieepedia. I hope you like the place and choose to join our work. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Annoyed

The article Improved Energy Cells is a sum up. Why make hundreds of separate articles on ion cells and diatium cells when you can make a general one describing the benefits improved cells bring, regardless of the names because the improved cells all do the same thing! Also, diatium is for a melee weapon. The article "Improved Energy Cells" is for blaster weapons not melee weapons so I think deleting it is unfair. We could also change the name to "Energy Cells" or have a category "Energy Cells"User:DarthBarrack

Planet templates

Sikon, I appreciate the work you're doing on this template system, but I think it would probably be best if it was discussed some more before it's implemented. If you could hold off on templating any more articles until a consensus is reached, it would be appreciated. We can do the discussing on Template talk:Planet. Don't worry about undoing what you've done so far, though; I think it's okay to leave it that way and undo it later if need be. – Aidje talk 06:02, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

  • Certainly, I will wait for the community's decision. I've only converted two planets so far (Malachor V for "low-level" templates and Mycroft for {{planet}}), only to illustrate the system. - Sikon 06:20, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)
    • Okay, Riff and I were just a little worried about how far you were planning on going. Two examples makes sense, though. – Aidje talk 20:02, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

How exactly do you format the coloring? I was going to make the background for Mace Towani orange (due to his jumpsuit) but wasn't sure on the color formatting. Adamwankenobi 13:39, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Where can I find information on your User Stats. I clicked the babel link but it's only for language. Where do I find stuff for astrology, my program of choice, level of star wars knowledge, etc. I've seen them on other pages before but I'm confused about where I can find more code. Any chance you could snap a screenshot of Rorworr, the dead Wookiee on Kashyyk, from KotOR I? I lack the game and promised JustinGann an image of this fellow. Thanks in advance! --Imp 02:36, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Coordination project

I have no idea if you are trying to create newer, prettier templates, but you can add categories to the bottom of the exisiting ones and it would work the same. It would be a lot less work, too :) StarNeptune 16:28, 12 Jan 2006 (UTC)

SuperShadow

Is this about the removal of the banner on the SS article page or the name disclaimer in the behind the scenes sections of a few pages including Dooku's page?--DannyBoy7783 05:36, 16 Jan 2006 (UTC)

  • Never mind, I misunderstood you for a minute. I removed the banner before reading the entire article. I skimmed it and it seemed fine. I'll admit it is a little biased against SS but this is the one time I think it is ok. The guy is a lunatic and it's even worse that people believe the crap on his site. He is responsible for so much of the fanon on this site. He should be tarred and feathered for making our jobs harder. I understand the NPOV banner perfectly fine Sikon. I may have hastily removed it but that doesn't mean I don't know what it means. If I didn't know I would have asked someone.--DannyBoy7783 05:51, 16 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Two things about Revan...

Hey Sikon, I've read the Revan's talk page and I found this line, said by you: Starkeiller, the problem is, only DS Revan can create a copy of his old robe on the Star Forge. LS Revan can instread create a "Star Forge robe", which looks differently.
Where on the Star Forge can you get Revan's old robe? I've completed the game three times (1 time with the DS, twice with the LS), but I could never create this Star Forge robe or Revan's old robe.

oh, and another thing about Revan, since nobody replies on the Revan talk page:
I do not agree with the statement that Revans eyes were Yellow. When your character in Kotor slowly turns to the darkside, their eyes don't turn yellow. In fact the iris and pupil dissappear, leaving the ciliary body (=the white stuff). This is with both a male and a female Revan. So.. why don't we change the eye color to.. uh... white?

Thanks!! --File:BFguy.gif-- Inmobilus 20:17, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

  • The robes are from the Star Forge (Deck 2), obtained by slicing a computer terminal. See GameBanshee for more information. To answer your other question, Revan's eyes never turned white during the game; according to canon he's Light Side. Thus his eyes were yellow. --Imp 20:36, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Ship infoboxes

I just started a unified discussion about ship infoboxes here. I'd like it if you (and your magical wiki-programming ability) would join the fun! —Darth Culator (talk) 14:01, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I'm not sure how your "wiki-magic" works, that's why it happened—I wasn't trying to sabotage you ;-) By the way, with the new template, I'm having problems with bulleting: look under the Droid tri-fighter's armament. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks. RMF 02:09, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Category Codes

Ah so that's how its done. Good job finding the noinclude code on the templates to prevent them from forcing the articles they're on into the categories. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:13, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

  • In addition I'd like to add, I like your bot, most appropriately R2. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:15, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
    • There is also the includeonly tag, which adds only articles using a template into the specified categories, not the template itself. - Sikon [Talk] 08:25, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Bots

Hey Sikon. Any chance you can help me setup a bot here to work on disambiguation link specification? I haven't dabbled in their use yet, and your cute lil' R2-D2 seems to perform nicely. --SparqMan 06:51, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Work on disambiguation link specification? What excactly is needed? - Sikon [Talk] 12:30, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

It would use the disambiguation script in pywikipedia, I assume, to assist in redirecting links to disambiguation pages towards the proper page. I downloaded the bot software, but it's not as friendly as I would have hoped. --SparqMan 18:21, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Will this do? - Sikon [Talk] 18:56, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
    • I've got everything in place, but there still seems to be some user error. Can you drop me an email (sparqman[at]gmail[dot]com) at your leisure? Thanks. --SparqMan 20:44, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

I think R2-D2 is acting up. Check out {{Battle}}. "[[Category:Uncategorized templates]]" shows up on battle pages now. —Darth Culator (talk) 20:09, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

  • The first few templates processed were screwed up, later I modified the bot to add the noinclude tags. I've just fixed the bugged templates manually. - Sikon [Talk] 01:29, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Infoboxes

I'm not sure how you did it, but I see you managed to get bullets working for the ship template. Could you do the same for Template:Ground vehicle infobox? Thanks. RMF 01:18, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

You're too nice :-P

Hey, good thing you've banned all those vandalizing idiots. I just wish you'd given them all much longer bans - preferably permanent ones. KEJ 17:13, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Help me Sikon, you're my only hope!

Hi Sikon. I'm guessing this is impossible to achieve at our level of access, but if it is possible, I guess you're the one to figure it out :-) Is there any way of implementing some sort of "safe list" that prevents legit users from being banned when a vandal of the same or similar IP address is banned? Cheers. --Azizlight 11:43, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Apparently there is no way to achieve this. At least that's what one #wikia visitor told me. The only way to resolve this seems to be to revert edits of this vandal until he goes away (a nonblocking ban, often practiced on Wikipedia). - Sikon [Talk] 14:10, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Bot help

Fanon vs Sourceless tags

I agree we should cut down on the redundancy, but I think it's much better if you kept the Fanon tag and removed the Sourceless tag. We need to distinguish between sourceless articles that we believe are legitimate from articles which are suspected fanon. --Azizlight 15:21, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

  • The point is, articles tagged sourceless appear in both Category:Sourceless and Category:Sourceless tagged (the latter orders articles by time). Sourceless = suspicious by default. We can, however, make another template that says "This article doesn't list sources, but the user who placed the template asserts that it is valid and not fanon, which would only add the article to the first category. - Sikon [Talk] 15:24, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
    • Hmm i don't think we want another sourceless tag, we already have {{sources}}, {{more sources}}, and {{fanon}}. I think your addition of the "Sourceless tagged" category is the cause of the complications here. Do we really need it? Anyway... peace Sikon :-) --Azizlight 15:47, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
    • I added that category so I could keep track of sourceless articles by date of their addition and purge old ones. Perhaps me messing with the existing system, making it more like Uncyclopedia's (QVFD/NRV/VFD), overcomplicated the issue, although I thought this would be more convenient. I'll create a new consensus track discussion for this. - Sikon [Talk] 15:52, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Is there a way we can somehow transfer the contents of the old "sourceless" category into your new "Sourceless tagged" category, therefore eliminating the old category? --Azizlight 15:59, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Your expertise

Hey Sikon. Considering you're a whiz with wikicode, perhaps you could see what went wrong with my code in my babelbox on my user page, which has since been shifted over to the far left of the page, with a swath of blank space ugling the page. Thanks. -- Riffsyphon1024 21:37, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Yeah the same thing happened to my boxes but I fixed mine. Anyway Sikon, what's up with my pictures of Plo Koon hugging that Pablo guy and the bananas one. They stay at the same size as they were uploaded as. The code says 400 px but they're not changing. I changed the size to 100 px, it changed then 400 again and it didn't work. Then I changed the size to 550 px but it was the same as the 400 px one. Whats up with that? Is the Wiki going through some change or something? -- Cato Neimoidia 22:38, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
    • It's easy - you forgot some closing tags, fixed now. This is why it's best to use meta-templates, like {{userbox}} - they are already tested for XHTML compliance and everything. - Sikon [Talk] 03:28, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
      • Thank you for fixing that Sikon. I also added the infobox for basic information to my page now, and I got the code right on that. Added it like everyone else was already doing, so I had to get sucked in eventually. -- Riffsyphon1024 01:17, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Can you find out my problem now? -- Cato Neimoidia 17:07, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
      • Where is it? - Sikon [Talk] 18:29, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
    • On my page, in the contributions section. The pictures on the right. See all say 400px but they aren't even unlike before. -- Cato Neimoidia 21:26, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Re: Kuralyov's block

Given our historical lack of enforcement of the 3RR, I think that your block of Kuralyov may have been a little harsh. I'm not trying to tell you what to do; I just think that blocking a fellow admin (without warning) over a rule that is rarely (if ever) enforced on this site isn't really appropriate. No offense personally. RMF 01:51, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello and a question about Sith Fighters

Hi, Sikon! You probably have seen me as 82.xx and 87.xx sometimes. I wrote something on KotOR and KotOR II related articles. Some time ago, i posted a question on the Sith Fighter talk page, regarding the origins of this ship, but no one answered. I played KotOR, and i recall Dorak saying that there were alien-shaped ships among Revan's fleet. It seems that the Leviathan-class ships were built by the Republic. If it's true, who created the Sith Fighter model? The Rakata? - QuakeRanger 20:19, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Hmm, a psychologist? Intriguing. What can you say about me from the scientific point of view? - Sikon [Talk] 16:18, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Have you ever heard of the "Fight or Flight" principal? It is a method of observation used to determine the stability of consiquences and problems withing a human's mind (or really any mind). Some people also use it to determine personality differnces (but i belive that it dosent work for a true personality 'test' or what ever you want to call it because it is in a differnt part of teh brain) But essentialy "Fight or Flight" is the most basic instinct that we have, if you belive in evolution in is the first and one of the only instincts that humans have kept over their developmental evolutionary process. But it deals with a persons ability ot cope with situations, wether you are going to push it to the side, ignoring it, or wether you are going to combat the problem and try to argue adn resolve the issue. I can tell that you are more of a pasifist because you deleated my "Personal Attack" adn did not respond, argue, try to discredit my assesment, or defend yourself, so that would point that part of my assesment was true. The other thing that i can tell by your last response is that you only argue the obscurities, the arguments you think you can win, you do not enter an argument with a chance of loosing where you could look bad. And i can tell this by you deleating my first statement, but challenging the second. You were skeptical about me being a Psychologest, you thought i was bluffing, so you figured you would get yourself an "easy win" to make me look bad adn make yourself feel superior. Then i really could go on about this for several pages, but i think you can chew on this for a little bit. Have fun! DarthVaderwillriseagain 16:49, 21 May 2006 (UTC)DarthVaderwillriseagain

  • I deleted the first comment because it was a personal attack, per the "remove personal attacks" policy, then kept the second because it was not a personal attack, plain and simple. But you're right about me only countering arguments I believe I can win. I was not skeptical about you being a psychologist, I believed you and asked you to continue because I like having my behavior analyzed. - Sikon [Talk] 17:14, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Main Page tweaks

Can you fix the main page so that the page content begins at the very top and remove the excess white space? Can it be done so that it doesn't cause problems for people with Firefox like it did when I attempted this? Wikipedia has managed to do this with their main page and have had no complaints that I am aware of, so I'm sure it can be done here. Ordinarilly, things like this wouldn't be that big a deal, but on the main page, having the content moved up makes the wiki to a newcomer seem more professional.
