Hey SillyDan. What happened with Alien Exodus? What comments in the Inq log made you remove it? As far as I am concerned it is a perfectly legitimate FAN, and Inqs have just been slow to review it. --Eyrezer 23:28, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Part of it was that it had been triaged to "medium", indicating that the Inqs thought that getting it into FA shape would be tricky, and thus end up being more work than I am likely to have time to do this summer once it did get more Inq reviews. Also, since The Epic Continues is the only current FA on a cut story (or even on any story, period), there hasn't been a lot of work on what constitutes an FA for that sort of subject. Alien Exodus might end up as a "test case", and I don't think it would be a very good first example for a book FA, since it's not even a complete book. As far as breadth of coverage goes, an article on Alien Exodus can't reach the standards of the The Epic Continues article, or on a putative FA on a published novel or one of the movies, because there's not a lot to say on the subject once the article finishes summarizing Sawyer's outline and excerpt. (For example, people keep trying to sneak Atha Prime into continuity, but no one does the same favour for Paxton Solo or Cosmo Hender.) I'm thinking of sending it to GAN and leaving it at that, though. —Silly Dan (talk) 00:08, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ok - but I'd recommend restoring it to the main page. The Triage system is obviously very new and allocating noms to each is not really worked out. I was actually saying in the IRC yesterday that Alien Exodus should be in the high category. The reason it was not is, I would say, because it only had one vote, and also because you have only written one prior FANs (as far as I can remember). As far as bredth of coverage, if you've got everything on AE, then you've got every thing on AE. It doesn't matter if there are additional sections on TEC. The way I see it, if you do get some objections that will require a significant amount of work later, you can take it down then, but to do so now does not seem justified to me. (Plus I've already INQed it :P ) --Eyrezer 06:46, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] I have an idea.
--Darth Vochkalie 22:01, 23 April 2009 (UTC)I was woundering if it's possible to be nominated for best user boxess. Please check them out some of them will make u laugh silly. TRUST ME my user boxess are awsome.
- It isn't. For the most part, no one cares about userboxes, and many of those who do are against them on principle. Sorry. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:34, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] RFB
Dan, just your name on that page spoke volumes. Almost everyone on the site looks up to you, and for someone of your distinction and demeanor to support me felt incredible. Thank you so much for your confidence in me. Graestan(Talk) 04:14, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Mimas
Would you perhaps be willing to carry out the merger proposed here? You seem to be the man for the job, with your knowledge of the subject matter and myriad references. Let me know. Graestan(Talk) 16:29, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- Done. (Actually, Mauser did it first, but I added some more details. 8) )—Silly Dan (talk) 18:38, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] How do i join Wookiee Project Aliens?
I can't figure out how to join the project--DarthPhane 15:01, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- You need to put your name inside the infobox on the page. Or, if you like, you can just join in by working on articles. —Silly Dan (talk) 12:20, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, preferably by working on articles first. --Eyrezer 00:55, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] CCG images
You mentioned the CCG image archives being down. You can find them here, though the SWCCG Players' Committee has stated that they will be created a new database soon, likely deprecating this older one. You can also download the images of all SWCCG cards ever created here. Note that the file is an executable; that's because it's meant to update the Holotable game program, but basically all it will do is install the images in a "Holotable" folder. Also note that it's a BIG file; you can get some space afterward by deleting any virtual expansions, since they were all created after Decipher lost its license and are thus fan-created. jSarek 04:29, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! With the CCG info, I've got the infobox for Bimm sourced now. —Silly Dan (talk) 12:20, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding an "unverified" article and its deletion
Dear Silly Dan. Back in 2008, you deleted an article titled Tractor beam 52-N1 because it was deemed "unverified". I had created the article with a source that was not a book or other form of media, but rather a toy created by Hasbro in 1998 in the form of the Death Star. Hasbro released several toys in the form of planets, or in this case, the Death Star, with a figure inside. On the outside were geographical locations, one being this tractor beam. Now surely this constitutes some form of canon if Hasbro has to go through LFL to get anything made. Would I need to present an image of the toy in order to keep the source valid? I would like your opinion on the matter and hopefully we can come to some understanding on this. -- Riffsyphon1024 09:56, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- That was a mistake. Another user (currently blocked from the site) put the "Verify" tag on, either because he was uncertain that the source was valid, or that the subject appeared in the source. I then deleted it after a week without checking the source validity. I've undeleted it and will fix up the source. —Silly Dan (talk) 12:08, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Mofference/50 main edits
I now have over 50 main edits, so how do I go about participating in the Mofference? --Skypopper(HoloNet Transmission) 17:26, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Once one is held, it will be on the IRC channel. Please see WP:IRC for details. —Silly Dan (talk) 20:05, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] The missing source and article.
I was reading the articles about jawas and when I checked the sources they left out a novel called Star Wars: Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, In the novel there is a chapter labeled Swamp Meet: The Jawas Tale which is accompanied by a small picture of a jawa. There are no articles about this book either, which realy bugs me. I am not experienced in making articles and would like an explanation and an article writen about the book and this to be labled as a source for the article Jawa. Please do your reaserch next time.
No Hard feelings. --Darth Vochkalie 14:18, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know why you're singling me out over this omission: I've never edited that article. You are right that the appearance in Swap Meet: The Jawa's Tale should be included in the Jawa article's list of appearance. You could have added it yourself by editing the appearance list, but I'll put it in instead. —Silly Dan (talk) 14:58, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
I wasn't singeling you out I was merly puting out a statment to you that this needed to be done,I dont have experience in making articles so thats why I asked for help. You are a role modle to wookiepedia and a good friend to me. No Hard Feelings --Darth Vochkalie 21:00, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- Well, admonishing me to "do my research next time" certainly sounded like you specifically thought it was something I missed. Be careful not to do that sort of thing in future. Also, if you're having difficultly adding something to an article, it would be better for you to post on the talk page for that article rather than select a random user and try to get them to fix the problem. For something as simple as a missing appearance, you really should be able to fix the problem yourself. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:05, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] userboxes
how do you get/make/earn userboxes? i really want to know they are cool. (Wwee 18:17, 5 July 2009 (UTC))
- Userboxes can be added to your user page at your discretion. See here. OLIOSTER (talk)

[edit] WookieeProject Aliens
Hey SillyDan. I thought I'd point out a little challenge over at WookieeProject Aliens trying to get a GA for every letter of the alphabet. If you have time, you may like to write up an article to contribute. They should be between 250 and 1000 words. --Eyrezer 04:44, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Who is he? every time I post an edit, he changes it back, and my edits are actually helpful. --CamB42 02:32, 8 July 2009 (UTC)CamB42

[edit] SFS P-w401 ion maneuvering jet
Hey, Silly Dan. The article that you deleted, SFS P-w401 ion maneuvering jet, had a history that is now lost to the newly-made redirect article P-w401 ion maneuvering jet now 'fixed' by User:I need a name to redirect to the copy of the original. I made an objection to deleting the article in the comments of the deletion page before it was deleted. It would have been better to have saved the original article instead of deleting it in favor of the copy. Gethralkin 14:47, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Nevermind, I found it. Carry on. Gethralkin 14:49, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Xi'Dec
Hi Silly Dan. Xi'Dec is over 1000 words. Why not take it to FAN? WP:AS could do with an "X" FA. --Eyrezer 03:20, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- I put it on GAN instead of FAN at first because I didn't know how long it would end up, and I won't have consistent internet access over the next few weeks. Maybe next month? —Silly Dan (talk) 11:31, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Cool. --Eyrezer 03:12, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
[edit] GA
Quick question. Where do people get information for their GA's? Enjoy the rest of your vacation. Gmalek 16:13, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- From the sources the subjects of the article appear in, of course. You could also use the "What links here" function to find Wookieepedia articles on what works refer to the subject of an article, or check sources like the CUSWE to find works which might mention the subject. —Silly Dan (talk) 16:47, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Taung Lifespan
The Taung's average lifespan is in the "Galaxy at War" book, from the Star Wars Saga Edition role-playing game. It say's that it is 85+ years. Weejiez 19:58, October 10, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Notability CT
I've closed and archived the notability rules CT. Thought I'd let you handle the actual implementation. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:09, October 10, 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks. I'll get on that. —Silly Dan (talk) 23:01, October 10, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Fan projects
When will the deletions take place? I will need a number of hands to help copy this stuff over. Alternatively, we could export these articles directly to the Fan Wiki. - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 01:25, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
- So far, I've been putting up the {{Notability}} tag, which would mean they could be deleted within one week if more information establishing notability isn't given. There's only one article so far which I've deleted outright, but it had basically no information. (This reply has been copied to your page.) —Silly Dan (talk) 01:30, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
Would you rather help set up an export of these articles, or would you prefer I and others just directly copy and paste them? - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 01:31, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
- Export would be better, if it keeps the edit history. They'll end up weirdly formatted on the fan wiki, though... I don't know how the export would be set up, though: I presume Wikia staff could take care of that if we pointed them at the articles? —Silly Dan (talk) 01:35, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
- We would use Special:Export, and then either Brandon, Drewton, or myself can use Special:Import over at the Fan Wiki. Grunny (Talk) 01:42, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, you can add whole categories into that, too (which is good, since Category:Unofficial websites probably has 95% of the articles which might disappear from Wookieepedia.) Remind me, and I'll look further into that and handle my end of the export in a few days. —Silly Dan (talk) 01:51, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
- We would use Special:Export, and then either Brandon, Drewton, or myself can use Special:Import over at the Fan Wiki. Grunny (Talk) 01:42, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, the edit histories would definitely be a good thing to preserve. Let either me or Grunny know whenever you're ready (Drewton's relatively inactive due to health reasons, so it'd be easier to go to me or Grunny). - Brandon Rhea
(talk) 02:20, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
I am willing to contribute to the Great Purge as well, I will go through fan-films and other fan articles, adding {{Notability}} whenever necessary. I also think that all 501st sub-organizations should be deleted outright, per "one article per project rule". MauserComlink 11:56, October 12, 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. We could probably put merge tags on all 501st subsections immediately, and leave a load of redirects behind after the articles get exported to another wiki. (I don't want to call it a great purge: a lot of the articles we'll be deleting might be reinstatable if someone finds notability evidence...8) ) —Silly Dan (talk) 23:22, October 12, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Page Number
Lifespan for Taung is on page 10 of Galaxy at War book, on table 1-2: Age by Species. Hope this helps. Weejiez
- OK, thanks for specifying. —Silly Dan (talk) 23:22, October 12, 2009 (UTC)
