Re: Rodan Edit

The entire article is pretty dismal, IMHO. In short, it's simply not up to current Good Article standards, which you can read here. I suspect it was passed a long time ago, before these more stringent standards were put into place. Unfortunately, we do not have a process to strip lacking GAs of their status like we do for Featured Articles. Everything must be sourced. The infobox, each paragraph, everything. Please look at the wampa article, which I helped promote to FA status, to get an idea of how an article should be sourced. Toprawa and Ralltiir 07:27, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm glad to hear that you've taken it on as a kind of personal little project. :) Dedication is always appreciated. Ideally, an article should be comprehensive. That is, it should include any and all information from every pertinent item in the appearances and source list. If you can add information from any other source while you're at it, please do so! Toprawa and Ralltiir 17:43, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
    • Add whatever you can whenever you can. :) Anything you can contribute is wonderful. If you need any help with anything, don't hesitate to come knocking. As far the antennae contradictions, it sounds like you've got a pretty good grasp on it. You may choose to add a description of the contradiction, as you've explained for me, to the BTS. Toprawa and Ralltiir 04:39, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
      • That's the real trick for writing anything, isn't it? Getting into the right frame of mind. I can understand you might be having trouble, since you don't have all the material, and thus might not really have a solid starting point. When I write an article, which more often than not will end up as a GAN or FAN, I always try to make sure I have every appearance and source, so I start from the beginning, the first appearance, and proceed from there. For your individual situation, I would say go through everything you have, and figure out your best starting point. Concentrate on individual sections. Don't try to tackle the whole article at once. It sounds like the History section for Rodian isn't your best bet at this time, so focus on "Biology and appearance." Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:07, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
        • I haven't had a chance to read through your blogs too extensively, but it sounds like most of that would fall under our policy of "No Original Research (OR)." Only add information from which you can reference from an appropriate source. Sometimes, people try to get around this by saying things like "It is unknown what purpose the Rodians' antennae served," for example. Avoid speculation, hypothesizing, or "unknown" statements like this. "Just the bare facts, kid!" Honestly, when I'm writing a Wook article, I won't hesitate to pop in one of my Star Wars film soundtracks, as corny as that sounds. It gets me in the "mood," as you say. I recommend Disc 2 of the The Empire Strikes Back. ;) Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:32, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
          • "Wookieepedia now owns my soul... XDD Trak Nar 22:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)" Haha, welcome to the club. :D Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
            • I do not have the sources you're looking for, but other users do. If you visit the Wook Wookieepedia:IRC chat, you can ask some of the regular users if they can help. Combined, we have everything. If someone doesn't have it immediately, you might ask again at different times when other users are on, etc. Toprawa and Ralltiir 01:55, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
              • Are you using Firefox and trying ChatZilla and all that hoopaju? Toprawa and Ralltiir 02:07, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
                • That's unfortunate. I kind of understand your troubles. For whatever retarded reason, ChatZilla won't work on my building's internet connection, but will work if I go into the library the next building over. Very frustrating. You might try messaging AdmirableAckbar and/or Gonk. I do believe Acky has Alien Anthology, and Gonk has...well, everything. Jaymach has pretty much everything, too. Toprawa and Ralltiir 02:20, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
                  • Hey, I'll try to look over what you've done asap. Real life responsibilities (i.e. school) is going to be an absolute bitch for the next two weeks. But, yes, absolutely include the lisp information. Try to include anything and everything, no matter how minor. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:51, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Rodian, Pt. 2Edit

  • For ref coding, just go into any article, find one, and copy it over and insert what you need. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:59, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
    • I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Good job. Just a reminder, not that I've noticed anything missing, but do your best to encompass any and all information you can possibly find out there, no matter how minute or trivial it may seem. Canon is canon! Toprawa and Ralltiir
  • How is the rest of Rodian coming along? I ask as I'm someone who secretly always wanted to FA that article myself! Do you have access to the Shadows of the Empire Planets Guide? It has some vital information for a comprehensive Rodian article. If you don't, let me know and I'll try and pass it on to you. --Eyrezer 07:20, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Hey, I thought I'd pass along a little pearl of wisdom to you concerning talk page content. It's best to leave personal details about yourself and life out of talk page discussions where everyone can see them. :) Toprawa and Ralltiir 07:03, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Time of Contribution Edit

So, Trak Nar, how long since you've started this account or started contributing to Wookieepedia? Or more specifically, when did you create this account? Just curious. Marco Lam 20px(Contact) 08:42, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Nice jobEdit

Hey, Trak Nar. I saw your attempt to add a source to the BTS info bit added to Corellia. Don't hesitate to ask other users questions on their talk pages. :) I've noticed your name popping up in the Recent Changes list helping others with vandalism, and attempting to source material on Armored Assault Tank. Just wanted to say you're doing a nice job, you're very helpful, and keep up the good work. :) Again, if I can help you with that Rodian project, just let me know. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:29, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

RE: About the Vector Art projects...Edit

Sure, help would be great. I'm putting together an actual list of what needs doing right now (since I was just kinda randomly doing stuff), so I'll get back with you when I'm done with that. Organization's always good. :P - Trip 21:36, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

  • RE: .svg support - The chief advantage here on the wook is that they're infinitely scalable. The wikia software also automatically generates pngs for in-article use at the requested resolution, so what you're seeing in the articles is not the svg itself - this makes it irrelevant what browser someone's using, and allows the resulting png images to be used anywhere (like message boards). I can't speak for any other sites (like deviantart), though. As far as saving them - make sure they're saved as "Plain SVGs" (not "Inkscape SVG"s or whatever the equivalent for a different program would be), and you might consider tagging them.
RE: tracing comic panels - I'd contemplated the same thing once or twice, but my talents aren't that far along yet (I'm pretty much a newbie at vector art)-- that's why I'm concentrating on logos, letters, and the like (plus that's where my interest lies). I can't see there being any difference between tracing a logo and tracing a comic book panel, but I'd recommend asking around first, like in the Senate Hall or something. In fact, I'll see what everyone in the chat thinks tonight if you don't ask prior to then. - Trip 20:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: QOTDEdit

Enochf, our newest administrator (I am no longer the n00b), has been running our QOTD page for quite some time. Feel free to make and vote on nominations here. Be Bold in editing, Miss Nar. That includes most levels of the wiki, aside from the articles. Graestan(Talk) 05:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! Edit

Thank's for helping me with my page! Sorry it took me so long to leave a message, but it took me a really long time to figure out how to leave one. I trying to figure out how to post pictures. Once again thank you!

Hey thereEdit

Just had a look at your deviantArt gallery and I must say, that's some premo stuff in there. Now, this may sound odd, but have you ever considered making artwork of starships or other vehicle-types of things like airplanes?--Goodwood 20px (Alliance Intelligence) 05:18, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Stang Edit

This was a while ago, but I felt I should bring it up. Next time you revert a legitimate edit you will get a cooldown ban. Thanks for your time. Kuralyov 01:11, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

  • Trak, I see from your comments on Kura's talk page that he's got you concerned about further editing. Don't be. Continue making edits in good faith as you see fit; should he give you a "cooldown ban," contact myself or another administrator and we'll see about fixing it. While your edit might have been wrong, your actions were in good faith, and should not have resulted in ban threats. jSarek 19:57, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

ImageEdit

  • To be honest, I'm not the best person to answer this particular question; I might suggest asking Darth Culator in IRC or perhaps Graestan. Sorry. Atarumaster88 20px (Talk page) 23:25, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Good job!Edit

File:Wookieecookie.pngFor your cool logic in sitewide discussions and your continued efforts on the wiki. Keep it up!

Ramblin' RodianEdit

Just popping in to say hi, and to ask about your progress on Rodian. Is there anything that you might need help with, or anything that others (including myself) can do to help? Hoping to hear from you...Goodwood 20px (Alliance Intelligence) 02:05, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Yeah, that can be some pretty sticky stuff, what you mention (and trust me on this, I know completely how you feel--it seems that we both have certain things in common, such as autism and ADHD. Now, let's get you back on track: first of all, use this super-secret link to your advantage when it comes to anything dealing with EU fiction (as opposed to reference books); second, yes, that is a very good idea, writing an article about Rodian theatre (with appropriate references) and using the Main Article template, however this should still be accompanied by a small blurb at the least; and lastly, it has long been my suspicion that most EU writers see Rodian characters, no matter the faction, as somewhat disposable, which is really sad. Rodian Jedi seem to be particularly prone to this phenomenon. One thing I do recommend is that you brave the IRC chatroom in order to solicit advice in real-time. Two members in particular that I recommend you consult are Eyrezer and AdmirableAckbar; both of these very nice gentlemen have practically written the book on how to write species articles. Hope this helps! Goodwood 20px (Alliance Intelligence) 21:13, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Stubs Edit

I noticed you're adding a lot of stub tags, so just FYI, they're only for articles about which more can be said. I don't know of that's the case for the ones you're adding, but I figure you should know, if you don't, that short articles where that's all the information there is on them don't get stub tags. - Lord Hydronium 07:28, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

  • So, an example: bottle bug. That's all the information that exists on them, so I've removed the stub tag. - Lord Hydronium 07:30, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Ok I gotta admit, those quotes caught my attention. ;) -- Riffsyphon1024 07:46, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
    • You're not alone. Many a long night for a Wookieepedian goes hardly without random antics. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:55, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Canoid Edit

Hey, just thought I'd led you know that I uploaded your "cleaned" pic of the Canoid. For future reference, cleaning pics like you did there is perfectly fine. As long as you don't add to the image or modify it so that it represents something different from the original image, you're good to go. :D Cull Tremayne 16:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Artwork Edit

Hey Trak Nar, I viewed some of your drawings and I'm pretty impressed. I was wondering do you also draw comics? I have some ideas for an article on Darthipedia and I was wondering if you would be willing to collaborate if you have the time and interest. Greetings: MadclawShyriiwook! 16:45, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

RodianEdit

  • Do you have access to the Shadows of the Empire Planets Guide? It has some vital information for a comprehensive Rodian article. If you don't, let me know and I'll try and pass it on to you. --Eyrezer 05:08, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
    • Able to join IRC for a sec? --Eyrezer 05:13, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
      • I've experienced the same thing. You might want to try http://toad-one.org/tools/irc/irc.cgi Select niven as the server and #wookieepedia as the Channel. It works for me when restricted from mIRDC etc. What I was going to say is you could download the guide if need be, but a school computer might prevent that... --Eyrezer 05:25, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Just passing by . . .Edit

I noticed you have a slight liking for Greedo (duh . . .) He is a very interesting Rodian and HE DID NOT SHOOT AT ALL! Anyway . . .I hope it's okay I watched you on DeviantArt . . . I go by ~Carmacao there. Cheers! Car-em 02:34, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

HeyEdit

Lol. And hey. It's me from SWFanon. Just wanted to say hello. Obviously you're not happy with the new article layout changes either? -- Joe Butler (Obi Maul12) (Chow) 05:27, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Wow. How long was it before the forum died out? And hell yeah. You really should post all of that stuff in the forum; the donate option sounds great. I know Wikipedia has had success doing that as well. Lastly, a nickel per click? Is it really that low? I thought advertisers paid just to have their ads up in the first place. -- Joe Butler (Obi Maul12) (Chow) 13:58, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Rodian sourceEdit

Greetings, Trak person. As far as I can see, you are holding Rodian under "inuse" tag. To avoid edit conflicts and problems, I am not going to edit that page. However, I don't want to forget that Rodians do appear in The Resistance Within, pg. 10. I ask you to include this under sources or appearances, preferibly with this format:

Rodians are not important for the plot, it's more a "cameo", but if you want any further information on that source, I'll be happy to explain it.--Skippy Farlstendoiro 14:39, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
