The Merr-Sonn V-1 thermal detonator was a thermal detonator that was calibrated to maximize enemy casualties within its blast radius. It bore a similar design to the Class-A thermal detonator also manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions but had a slate-gray shell instead of the Class-A's reflective shell. During the Clone Wars, it was the grenade of choice for both sides of the conflict and were utilized by clone sharpshooters, clone jet troopers, clone heavy troopers, assault battle droids, and battle droid assassins on various battlefronts. Merr-Sonn denied selling thermal detonators to the Separatists, yet many droids have been seen carrying V-1 thermal detonators on the battlefield.
