Vaathkree was an astronomical object located in the regions known as the Outer Rim Territories and the Slice. It was also situated in the grid square S-8 of the Standard Galactic Grid. A hyperspace route linked Vaathkree to the celestial body Boonta and the planet Klatooine.

Behind the scenes

Vaathkree was first depicted in the current Star Wars canon on a galactic map in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a 2016 Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars Roleplaying boxed set. The planet Vaathkree was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 1994 The Last Command Sourcebook, written by Eric Trautmann for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.

The Star Wars sources that identify the canon Vaathkree by its name consistently do so as a map label without a corresponding point on the map. However, both the December 12, 2020 The High Republic Free Digital Sampler and the February 3, 2021 comic book The High Republic Adventures (2021) 1—the latter written by Daniel José Older and illustrated by Harvey Tolibao—depict a point on the galactic map that corresponds to the placement of the Star Wars Legends version of Vaathkree. This article therefore assumes that the same placement also holds true for the canon Vaathkree.
