The Venom assault squads were elite military units used by the Galactic Alliance during the Second Imperial Civil War.

The soldiers of these squads were distinguished by their black body armor which allowed them to operate for a limited amount of time in space. This form of assault trooper carried out some of the most dangerous special operation missions during the Sith–Imperial War and worked on behalf of the Galactic Alliance Remnant.

Venom squads were trained to operate in zero gravity and in tiny spaces and were efficient in close quarter combat, making them excellent for boarding parties. Their equipment consisted of blaster carbines, vibroswords and grenades suited for shipboard combat.
