The Vensenor was the decommissioned Venator-class Star Destroyer aboard which the Galactic Empire's Vensenor Flight Academy was based. During the Clone Wars, starfighter ace Bythen Forral, then a captain in the Galactic Republic Navy, was deployed aboard the Vensenor. In orbit of the planet Arkanis, the Star Destroyer later underpinned the Empire's eponymous flight academy, which trained naval officers and pilots and was overseen by Commandant Forral. Vensenor Flight Academy produced graduates who received far more combat decorations than average, as well as more defectors than any other school in the overall Imperial Academy system, facilitated by the undercover resistance operative Gola Chall.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

In the canon continuity, the Vensenor was introduced in the Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook Dawn of Rebellion, which was published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2018. At one point, the sourcebook misspelled the Venator's name as "Vensensor." In Star Wars Legends, the Vensenor was first mentioned through a mention of Vensenor Flight Academy in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a sourcebook for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, which was written by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann and published by West End Games in 1993.[2] The Vensenor was indirectly mentioned in X-Wing: Wedge's Gamble, the second novel in the Star Wars: X-Wing series, written by Michael A. Stackpole and published by Bantam Spectra in 1996.[3]
