Virevols were a non-sentient species of saber-toothed rat found only on Despayre,^[1] a prison world in the Atrivis sector of the Outer Rim Territories.^[2] The virevol could grow to the size of wolves, and were considered formidable creatures by the prisoners on Despayre. A Brigian prisoner—known to be a former assassin—was rumored to have killed a virevol with only a stick, after which he was supposed to have cooked and eaten it. All the virevol on Despayre perished with the destruction of the planet by the first Death Star that occurred in 0 BBY.^[1]
