The name Vorkaan is mentioned in the novel Shield of Lies by Michael P. Kube-McDowell, published in 1996. From the context, it is unclear whether the name refers to a planet, a sentient species, or some organization; or whether the name Vorkaan is a noun, an adjective, or both. The Star Wars: The Essential Atlas Online Companion has since included an entry for a Vorkaa system.
