Vost Tyne was an Human Imperial Navy officer.

Tyne rose to attain the rank of admiral. Tyne commanded a Star Destroyer in the battlegroup assigned to assist Darth Vader, and he and Vader worked together on several occasions. It has been said that Tyne and Vader developed a friendship of sorts, and that Tyne regarded Vader as a mentor. In fact, Vader had trained the Force-sensitive Tyne to use the dark side of the Force.

When a hyperbaride production company on Marca, Dynamic Synergetics, Incorporated, was "nationalized" by the Empire, Tyne retired his commission and, with Vader's personal influence behind him, gained a position with the company as "executive assistant" to the existing managing director, Arviz Linden, which really meant that Tyne was there to keep a close eye on Linden and make certain he remained observant of Imperial dictates. He was joined by Imperial appointees who replaced the senior management.

Tyne discovered that, under Linden's administration, the DSI facility had been working at only 25% of its total capacity, largely because Linden had sought to prevent undue ecological damage to Marca's environment and its native sentients, the reptilian Sekct. The Empire, however, demanded nothing less than 100% production capacity, and ordered Linden to bring production up to maximum capacity without regard either for the environment or the natives that might be harmed by the increased output of by-products. Linden attempted to fight this directive, but failed.

There were rumors that he was planning to establish contact with the Rebel Alliance, but he died of a mysteriously ruptured trachea before he could do so. This was Tyne's handiwork, and as Tyne was skilled in the use of the dark side, it is likely that Tyne was taught to perform Vader's signature method of execution. Upon Linden's "unfortunate demise," Tyne became managing director of DSI in his own right. While in charge, he reported the plant's increased efficiency to Aaz'del Hutrick, Director of the Imperial Department of Munitions Resource Development.

Tyne was soon opposed by a group of Rebel Agents, who armed the Sekct and demolished Tyne's DSI Factory. Tyne escaped the attack by taking an Imperial Tie Fighter and swore an oath of vengeance upon the victorious Rebels.

Cold, calculating, and incredibly cruel. Every one in his presence swears that his evil is a palpable presence, and causes fear wherever he goes. He appears to care very little of other sentient beings and has a total disregard for life.

Due to his Dark Side training under Darth Vader, Tyne has a formidable amount of force abilities, including Control (Force Power), Force Sense, Force Alter, inflict pain, Affect mind and the Infamous Force Choke. He also has in his possession a Lightsaber likely given to him by Vader.
