While on a bodyguard mission for the Jedi Council seven months before the Battle of Geonosis, she met and fell in love with a pilot named Ash B'risko. He soon fell in love with a Twi'lek girl. Jealous, Vydel developed the dark side alter ego "Kardem," and killed the pilot and the Twi'lek with Force lightning. She went on a killing spree, killing Twi'lek females as Kardem with lightning and lightsaber, and, as Vydel, unaware of her alter ego, investigating the murders and chasing Kardem. The Jedi Council sent a Jedi Knight to capture her, but Kardem murdered him as well, only to investigate his murder as Vydel. A bounty was placed on Kardem, and she was eventually captured by Feskitt Bobb.
