Walkthrough identification scanners were a type of security technology used by the Imperial Security Bureau in locations such as Killun Station on Killun 71. Their purpose was to prevent unauthorized droids from entering secure locations.[2]

During a mission to steal Imperial access codes from Killun Station, Rebel droids Chopper and AP-5, infiltrating the base, had to pass through such a scanner. AP-5, as a former Imperial droid, had no problem, but Chopper was flagged, although the stormtroopers on guard duty failed to notice. Instead, a signal was transmitted to Imperial controller LT-319 aboard his surveillance starship in deep space, and the controller and his crew subsequently hijacked Chopper in an attempt to find out where the Phoenix Cell's base was located.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

A walkthrough identification scanner first appeared in the Star Wars Rebels season 3 episode "Double Agent Droid," which aired in 2017.[1] It was first identified in the Databank entry for Killun Station.[2]
