Standard equipment for explorers, colonists, and adventurers and a part of any well-equipped survival kit, condenser units radiated large amounts of heat with minimal power usage. These were also referred to as warming units or thermal coils and could also be used for cooking.

Luke Skywalker used one of these when he journey to Dagobah after the Battle of Hoth.
