The Way of Schesa was a hyperlane in the Unknown Regions,^[1] and was one of the few routes to lead into the Redoubt, a star cluster^[2] at galactic coordinates H-7^[3] that was fortified by the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force (CEDF) to serve as a last stand in case of an enemy invasion. One of its endpoints lay at the northern end of the Path of the Houses—a route connecting the home planets of Chiss Ruling Families—within the core territory of the Chiss Ascendancy at coordinates F-8. The route then headed toward the Redoubt, its eastern terminus. The other terminal point of the route—the planet Schesa^[2]—was home to a former Ruling Family, which eventually found itself on the losing side of a civil war before the Swarm War,^[4] while another world along the route, Pesfavri, was a CEDF base.^[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

The Way of Schesa debuted in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book^[5] written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.^[6] The route is pictured on a map that accompanies the description of the Chiss Ascendancy and shows its core territory and its immediate vicinity. The route was also mentioned—albeit indirectly—in the description of Pesfavri on the same page.^[2]
