For other uses, see Wazta (disambiguation).

The Wazta sector was located in the region known as the Outer Rim Territories. It contained both the Lotho Minor and Vassek systems, the former of which was located along the Lutrillian Cross hyperspace route.

In 21 BBY, during the Clone Wars, the planet Vassek's third moon located in the sector served as the site of an engagement fought between the Kaleesh Separatist Alliance General Grievous and a Galactic Republic task force commanded by Jedi General Kit Fisto, which led to the loss of all Republic forces excluding Fisto, who retreated as a result. Later in the war, in 20 BBY, the Dathomirian Zabrak Savage Opress traveled to the Wazta sector's planet Lotho Minor in search of his exiled brother, the Sith Lord Maul.

Description[]

The Wazta sector was located within the region known as the Outer Rim Territories beyond the Western Reaches region. It served as the location of both the Lotho Minor[1] and Vassek systems,[2] the former of which was situated close enough to the Lutrillian Cross, the largest hyperspace route in its vicinity,[1] while the latter was located far enough off the Koda Spur route that the star system and its worlds did not receive many visitors.[2]

Located within the northern part of the Wazta sector, the Lotho Minor system was its star Lotho and the terrestrial world of Lotho Minor,[1] the ruined homeworld of the Junker species.[3] A planet with one of the most dangerous ecosystems in the galaxy, Lotho Minor was also utilized by the galaxy as one of its many dumping grounds for excess waste,[1] which led to its becoming covered in mountains of junk brought to the world throughout countless generations.[6] In addition, the sector's Vassek system, located in grid square I-17 on the Standard Galactic Grid, was the site of the planet Vassek, which the star system had received its name from, and its three moons. The planet's third moon, Vassek 3, was a hospitable satellite whose surface was covered in rocky mountains and shrouded in perpetual mists,[2] while also serving as the site of the personal fortress of the Kaleesh Separatist Alliance General Grievous.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

The Wazta sector first appeared in the new Star Wars canon in "Lair of Grievous,"[4] the tenth episode of the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on December 12, 2008.[7] The sector was later identified in the sixty-second issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine,[2] published around March 30, 2016.[8] The Wazta sector originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity in "The Clone Wars: The Dreams of General Grievous,"[9] a webcomic in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars webcomic series authored by Pablo Hidalgo[10] and published on December 10, 2008.[11]
