Wookiee Elder was a high position in the society and culture of the Wookiees, a species of arboreal sentients from Kashyyyk. Those Elders had notably the right to cancel the festivites of the Life Day, the most important of the Wookiee holiday.^[1] At the time of the Galactic Republic, a council of venerated Elders accompanied accompanied Kashyyyk's representative to the Galactic Senate on Coruscant.^[2]

Merumeru was an Elder at the time of the Battle of Kashyyyk and, at a mere 250 years old, was one of the youngest to have held the title.^[3] Abourt two decades later, during the Galactic Civil War, the female Wookiee Ovarra acted as an Elder.^[4]
