Lando Calrissian[]

Things to do[]

New Meeting 24 issues[]

Removal of GA status[]

Comments[]

Alright, so I added a ton of sources to the article, so those probably need to be checked. The "what links here" feature was really helpful. Anyway, before I go on I noticed there was some first name usage in the Bts, which needs to be fixed. It's also rampant throughout the image captions, but I don't know whether we make exceptions of those. As for the new appearances/sources, I didn't look through all of them too much in-depth but I'll note a few that I think should be looked at:

  • Both editions of Galaxy Guide 5: Return of the Jedi contain an entry on Lando so there may be new information there.
  • I don't have this magazine, but Lando is featured on the cover of Star Wars Kids 9 so it's a safe bet there's at least a feature on him in it.
  • During my search I noticed a bit of new information in The Black Sands of Socorro (page 48) and the Scavenger's Guide to Droids (pages 18, 139, and 159).
  • There's apparently an article on Billy Dee and Lando in The Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine 14 called "Billy Dee Williams: The Life and Times of Lando Calrissian", this makes 6 redlinks by the way.
  • A couple of the AJ articles I added make mention of the cancelled Lando Calrissian Adventures Sourcebook, which would have been written as an autobiography of Lando. That might be something worth mentioning in the Bts.
  • There's a Tales story called The One That Got Away in which Lando makes a brief appearance as Skreej.
  • I also found several Marvel SW issues where Lando makes a physical appearance. None of these were in the article before:
    • Star Wars 69 - appears in the epilogue
    • Star Wars 81 - makes a brief appearance toward the beginning
    • Star Wars 94 - appears in seven or eight pages throughout the issue
    • Star Wars Annual 3 - this one's my biggest concern. Lando plays a pretty large role in the mission to Belderone, but this article doesn't ever mention it.
  • A few other concerns:
    • Why are the events of Star Wars 83 placed before RotJ? Sarna mentions that the revolutionaries would "resurrect" the Empire if Drogheda was put under their control, and one of the revolutionaries even mentions that "the Empire's been defeated." Both of these point to a post-RotJ placement. It's more likely that Lando just revisited Arbra before the issue began for whatever reason, instead of two different people predicting the Battle of Endor. Our article on Sarna, which is an FA, also places the story post-RotJ.
    • I also added Star Wars: Behind the Magic to the sources list, so obviously there's nothing from that in the article. There's some Bts information in it that should be in the article, such as mentions of an early version of him being a suave smuggler accompanied by female sidekicks and another version being a businessman who ran a general store on a Wookiee planet (not necessarily Kashyyyk). Lucas apparently wanted him to be the one to defeat Fett during the sarlacc sequence, and Lawrence Kasdan suggested that Lando be killed after falling into the sarlacc. Those are just a few things I found after a quick look. BtM needs to be completely scoured for any relevant Bts information on him.
  • I think that's all I have to say. Xicer9Atgar(Combadge) 03:36, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
    • I just added a few articles from the latest Insider issue, which is ESB themed. One of them is an interview with Billy Dee, so that needs to be looked at. This makes 8 redlinks by the way. Xicer9Atgar(Combadge) 17:42, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
  • Hopefully it's OK for me to place a few thoughts here. I had four objections to Lando's FA nomination when it was brought to an end last December that were never addressed. I'll repost them here:
    • The Forgotten War: The Nagai and the Tofs and its endnotes on www.myuselessknowledge.com (backup link not verified!) establish that SOTE: Evolution is now placed before Issue 107 of Marvel and the end of the Nagai-Tof War. The relevant sections in "Biography" should be reshuffled accordingly.
    • 'The Forgotten War' article should be mined for potential new info, as well.
    • There's not a single mention of Jorj Car'das. Statements made by Mara to Luke in Vision of the Future heavily imply, if not outright state, that she and Lando spent a lot of the time between 7 ABE and 12 ABE searching for Car'das and eventually tracking him to Exocron, where they also help Crev Bombaasa out of a tight spot. I believe that Mara also tells Corran in I, Jedi that she and Lando are tracking Car'das. The only hint towards this in the article is a brief sentence at the end of the 'Mara Jade' section of 'Relationships', when really, it's important enough to be covered in detail in his biography, and even to be mentioned in the article's intro.
    • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there's a scene at the end of Specter of the Past where Lando is present at the Solo's apartment at the point when Karrde and Shada pay them a visit; Lando convinces a reluctant Karrde to go to Exocron and see if Car'das has a copy of the Caamas Document. This should be mentioned in the biography.
  • Billy Dee also made a guest appearance on Scrubs where a character kept calling him Lando --- this could be in the bts, but its absence probably isn't important enough to strip an article of GA status. ^^ Menkooroo 04:32, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
