Wookieepedia's Deletion policy defines the general conditions under which administrators may delete articles via the "speedy deletion" method. This differs from the Trash compactor, where the Wookieepedia community votes to determine whether an article should be deleted. In general, articles may be speedily deleted if they do not meet the Notability policy or are otherwise determined to be vandalism, fanon, or unnecessary for the wiki.

Conditions for deletion

Listed here are some of the most common general conditions under which an administrator may speedily delete an article. This list is by no means comprehensive, and all deletions are protected by Administrative autonomy.

  1. Notability. Wookieepedia defines certain notability rules for mainline articles and fan projects. Articles that are determined to be in violation of these rules may be deleted.
  2. Vandalism. Obvious cases of vandalism are detrimental to Wookieepedia and will be immediately deleted, followed by administrative sanctions, including warnings and/or blocks.
  3. Fanon. Fanon will be immediately deleted, followed by administrative sanctions, including warnings and/or blocks. Fanon may be more appropriate for the Star Wars Fanon wiki.
  4. Nonsense. Articles considered to be nonsense may be speedily deleted at the discretion of an administrator. This is a broadly defined category that may include such common cases as spam, copyright infringement, inappropriate material/language, personal attacks, poorly created articles, or articles otherwise determined to be unnecessary for the wiki.

Any user who spots an article that they believe should be deleted under these conditions should tag the article with the {{Delete}} template or the {{Verify}} template. Articles tagged with the Verify template will be deleted after seven days if still unverified.

My article has been deleted. What do I do?

If an article you have created has been tagged with {{Delete}} but you feel that it has a place on Wookieepedia, there are a few ways to contest the deletion:

  • Replace the {{Delete}} tag with the {{Holdon}} tag, and explain on the associated talk page why you feel your article should not be deleted.
  • Check the article's edit history to see who placed the {{Delete}} tag, and explain on that user's talk page why you feel your article deserves to stay.
  • Contested deletions may be decided through the Trash compactor process.

Has your article already been deleted by an administrator? No worries—everything can be restored if needed. Check the deletion log to see who deleted the article, and then explain on that administrator's talk page why you feel the article was wrongly deleted. Note that all deletions fall under Administrative autonomy and cannot be overturned by another administrator. Asking another administrator to undelete your article will not help you.
