[edit] January 1, 2010 – Crev Bombaasa
Crev Bombaasa was a crime lord who founded a powerful cartel in the Kathol sector and later served the Hutt Borga Besadii Diori during the Yuuzhan Vong War. A well-educated man of refined manner and much literary knowledge, he was considered to have a distinctly beetle-like appearance, due to his stick-like limbs and pudgy body. Starting out as a small-time criminal working on Corellia early in the Galactic Civil War, he eventually moved to Pembric II in the Kathol sector, where law enforcement was almost non-existent. He and numerous fellow criminals merged their organizations and formed the Bombaasa Cartel, as a means of protection from large organizations, such as that of the Hutts. With Bombaasa at its head, the cartel became very influential in the Pembric system, and after Imperial Moff Kentor Sarne pulled out of the area in 8 ABY, Bombaasa seized control of Pembric II, making it a haven for smugglers, pirates, swoop gangs, and myriad other criminals. He had dealings with the New Republic envoy FarStar soon thereafter, but was able to repel any attempts by the Republic at diminishing his power.
He remained on Pembric II for many more years, increasing in power and stature until his territory covered many systems. He eventually grew bored of the Kathol sector, and left to become an underling of Borga, the most powerful Hutt of the time. Bombaasa operated from a giant, nine hundred meter-long freighter named Starmaster, and was in charge of Hutt operations and spice smuggling in the Tynnani system and the Bothan worlds. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, he helped Borga feed information to the New Republic about impending targets of the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong invaders, but after the Hutts' demise he became a member of Talon Karrde's reformed Smugglers' Alliance. Bombaasa contributed to the Galactic Alliance victory over the Yuuzhan Vong at the Battle of Coruscant in 29 ABY, and along with Karrde, smuggler Booster Terrik, and Lando Calrissian, he pledged to change his ways and make an honest living.
[edit] January 2, 2010 – Abran Balfour
Abran Balfour was the Imperial Moff of the Parmic sector, whose forces constantly patrolled the Llanic Spice Route. Balfour operated from a fortress at the space station Spice Terminus, where he kept a private collection of exotic non-sentient species. Derided as an inefficient and apathetic governor, Balfour was less interested in political and military matters than he was with restoring the vintage space barge known as the Lady Telura. The restoration led him to pursue rare ship parts, and he found himself in contact with organizations such as The Most Honourable Guild of Armourers. Due to his unorthodox order of priorities, Moffs of bordering sectors constantly criticized Balfour, though his lax attitude alone left him bereft of true enemies.
He soon became notorious for his attitude, and was the subject of several political songs, "Moff Balfour's Lament (Tapmint Surprise)" among them. Nonetheless, he was undeterred, and had the utmost faith in the security of his sector. Eventually, his faith was shaken when Parmic became a nexus of Imperial activity following reported Rebel strikes and rumors of a Mandalorian presence in the sector. Eventually, Balfour was deposed by a mercenary group, the Laramus Base Irregulars. His holdings were later investigated by operatives working for the ascendant New Republic.
[edit] January 3, 2010 – Swokes Swokes
The Swokes Swokes were a sapient species native to the Outer Rim planet of Makem Te. They had sharp, protruding teeth, a series of horns crowning their pallid heads, one to three nostrils, and no hair. Some members of the species had long, heavy, spiked tails. Swokes Swokes had the ability to regenerate lost limbs, which afforded them considerable bravado on the battlefield. Death was a prominent aspect of their culture. They viewed jewelry as a status symbol and often had gems implanted close to vital organs. Makem Te society had little advanced technology. Builders relied on sturdy yet delicate-looking cast iron for their primary construction material, and transport often relied on domesticated serpentine creatures called schingas.
A coalition of royal families known as the Congress of Caliphs ruled the species' homeworld. The introduction of galactic technology set off a wave of social unrest on Makem Te, disturbing the tradition-minded people and spurring several religious schisms. The Temple of the Beatific Razor, a violence-worshipping sect, attracted enough adherents to challenge the authority of the aristocracy. Over the next few decades, these rulers called in the aid of the Galactic Republic (a body in which the species was represented at the time of the Invasion of Naboo), the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and the Galactic Empire. The Swokes Swokes never joined the New Republic.
[edit] January 4, 2010 – Ketcher
Ketcher was a flight officer in the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War. Shortly after the Battle of Hoth, Ketcher was stationed on the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Fogger, where he befriended his fellow pilots Carith, Alimet and Maarek Stele. The group was later transferred to the Nebulon-B2 frigate Ludwick, serving under Vice Admiral Thrawn during a campaign against the Pakuuni Pirates. While being punished for an unauthorized trip to the Ludwick's hangar by helping to clean up a pirate base, Ketcher found a small, red crystal, which he decided to keep for himself. After finding the crystal, however, Ketcher started to become lethargic and increasingly isolated. He died in 3 ABY, within months of finding the crystal.
[edit] January 5, 2010 – Ronderu lij Kummar
Ronderu lij Kummar was a Kaleesh female and a close confidant of Qymaen jai Sheelal, the warrior who would become known as General Grievous. Her origins were largely unknown; believed to hail from the Grendaju ice mass at the extreme south of the planet Kalee, she claimed not to belong to any one Kaleesh tribe, but to be a descendant of the gods. Rumors abounded regarding her true background, and some believed she never existed. A talented swordsmaster and hunter, she worked as a wandering mercenary, hiring her skills to different tribal chieftains on Kalee.
Kummar later met the Kaleesh warrior Sheelal while hunting in the Kunbal jungle, and the two became steadfast companions. Outsiders did not know the full nature of their relationship, with some speculating that they were lovers, or that Kummar was Sheelal's long lost half-sister. Kummar joined Sheelal in his crusade against the alien Yam'rii who had attempted to colonize their homeworld, fighting by his side in campaigns too numerous to count. The two were considered invincible when fighting together and had a reputation of twin demigods among their people, but when separated, they were considerably less deadly in combat. This led to Kummar's downfall; separated from Sheelal while fighting Yam'rii on the beaches of the Jenuwaa Sea, she was killed, and her body was dragged out to sea. A devastated Sheelal failed to retrieve her body, subsequently going on a pilgrimage to Abesmi and beginning a path of bloodshed and despair that would last his life. He took the name Grievous to signify his grieving existence, ultimately becoming a vicious warlord and later the Supreme Commander of the Separatist Droid Armies.
[edit] January 6, 2010 – TIE/sh shuttle
The TIE/sh shuttle or, more commonly, the TIE shuttle, was a short-range personal priority shuttle the Imperial Navy used to quickly transport high-ranking officers and other cargo between capital ships of a fleet and ground stations. A modified variant of the TIE/sa bomber and TIE boarding craft, the TIE shuttle had room for two passengers aside from the pilot. Unlike the TIE bomber, the TIE shuttle was not designed for combat. Armed with only a single laser cannon and not very maneuverable, the craft lacked hyperdrive capability and deflector shields, similar to other starfighters of the Sienar Fleet Systems-designed TIE series. Darth Vader's Imperial Death Squadron made extensive use of the TIE shuttle during the Hoth campaign of 3 ABY to deliver face-to-face messages between Star Destroyers of the fleet in order to minimize sensor and communications interference.
[edit] January 7, 2010 – The Trickery of Vosdia Nooma
The Trickery of Vosdia Nooma, also referred to as Trickery, was a play commissioned, funded, and partially written by Rodian Senator Onaconda Farr. Ruris Plin and Hishinu Booj were the other authors of the play, with Booj also its director. Trickery starred Chooru Delb as titular character Vosdia Nooma, Deebo Chak as the main antagonist known as the Soldier, and Fosin Dreed in the "Savior" role as the Paladin. Beata Reesh and Huruni Hune also had roles in the play, and Farr himself made a holographic cameo in the opening night performance as the town's oracle. It was released in 22 BBY to Rodia's Equator City First Stage as well as those with Core to Mid Rim access tuned to signal RES23.
Senator Farr initially created the play to explain his stance on the controversial Military Creation Act. Farr, who supported the movement, wished to expose, through Rodian Theater, the consequences of ignoring the offer for protection. As such, symbolism and allegory were extensively employed. Set during the Rodian feudal era in the town of Yusk, Rodia, the play details farmer Vosdia Nooma's ascension to become baron of the town. During this time, Trickery's antagonist appears and incites the farmers to rebellion. This eventually leads to all-out war and Nooma is presented with the opportunity to use the Paladin's own personal army for protection; Nooma refuses, however, and the townsfolk of Yusk suffer for it as the war rages on.
[edit] January 8, 2010 – Buran Borsil
Buran Borsil was a Nord scout and SpecForce agent serving the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. He attended Barosa Warren's Galactic Outdoor Survival School during the early years of the Empire, learning how to thrive in various harsh atmospheres as part of the highly successful Twilight Class. His area of expertise was arctic survival, and along with his fellow classmates he completed GOSS's graduation expedition in record time in 12 BBY.
Borsil and many of his former classmates joined the Rebel Alliance shortly before the Battle of Yavin, despite the wishes of their master instructor at GOSS, Barosa Warren. A rift occurred between Warren and Twilight Class's de facto leader, Sisquoc; Borsil took Sisquoc's side along with most of his peers, incurring Warren's wrath. As of 2 ABY, Borsil was assigned to a SpecForce detachment deployed with Alliance High Command, though he also held an honorary position on Eclipse Team, an infamous Rebel group founded by Sisquoc and several other former members of Twilight Class. Borsil also occasionally acted as an instructor to Rebels stationed at outposts on frigid worlds.
[edit] January 9, 2010 – Raid on the Iziz Royal Palace
The raid on the Iziz Royal Palace took place in 4,000 BBY, and was a preconceived plot developed by the Beast Riders of the planet Onderon's wilderness, to abduct Galia, Princess of Onderon. After spending years in exile from the lone city of Iziz, the Beast Riders managed to secretly infiltrate the city, and began trading information with the citizens who were against the rule of Queen Amanoa. It was also during this time that Beast-Lord Oron Kira, met and fell in love with Galia. Because the couple knew that the Queen would not allow their union, they developed a plot in which the Beast Riders would attack the Royal Palace of Iziz and kidnap Galia. As part of the abduction, the Princess would be taken to Kira’s forest stronghold to wed the Beast-Lord. Waiting for the right time, an opportunity arose when three Jedi Knights arrived on Onderon to facilitate peace negotiations between the Beast Riders of the planet's wilderness and the citizens of the Iziz.
Through their underground contacts, the Beast Riders learned that the city-dwellers had requested aid from the Republic. The Riders then planned to use the Jedi's arrival as the distraction they required to carry out their planned abduction. The mounted warriors encountered the Knights in the Onderonian atmosphere and attacked their starship, paying out blaster fire before the Knights could even land. The Jedi received assistance from Iziz's defense towers, however, who covered their landing and repelled Kira’s forces with turbolaser bombardment. The Beast Riders momentarily halted the chase as the Jedi successfully landed in the city, where they were brought them before the Queen and her daughter.
As one of the Jedi offered the protection of both the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order to the Queen, Kira and his men managed to penetrate not only the city wall defenses, but the palace, as well. Several warbeasts and their Riders overtook the throne room as Amanoa's Royal Protectors ushered her and Galia to safety while the Jedi met the intruders in combat. Two of the warriors, special Beast Warrior Commandos, slipped passed the Jedi and followed after the Queen's entourage. The warrior pair defeated the Royal Protectors and successfully abducted Galia. Amanoa was lightly stunned in the commotion, and the Beast Riders promptly departed, having successfully carried out their mission. In turn, the Queen demanded that the Jedi have the Princess returned at once.
[edit] January 10, 2010 – Kopecz
Kopecz was a male Twi'lek Dark Lord of the Sith who lived during the final decades of the New Sith Wars. A former Jedi, Kopecz turned his back on the Jedi Order to join the ranks of the Sith, becoming one of the first members of Lord Kaan's Brotherhood of Darkness. He spent much of his time at the forefront of the Brotherhood's campaigns against the Galactic Republic, including the final battles both orbiting and on Ruusan.
A powerful Sith Lord, Kopecz was often the first voice of dissent against Kaan, stirring the other Sith against him on issues such as the prolonged battle for control of Ruusan. However, Kaan was always able to sway Kopecz into siding with him, as he did when outlining the plan to use the thought bomb at the Seventh Battle of Ruusan. Kopecz, however, saw the madness of Kaan in using such a device when the Brotherhood were gathered in a network of caves. Sneaking out of the gathering, Kopecz joined the defenders at the mouths of the caves, and was mortally injured when the Jedi's Army of Light attacked. He was discovered by Lord Valenthyne Farfalla, a Jedi Master who recognized Kopecz as a former Jedi. Refusing to surrender and instead demanding that Farfalla promise him death in combat, Kopecz convinced the Jedi to fight him in exchange for revealing Kaan's plan. Knowing the Twi'lek had only a short time to live given his injuries, Farfalla agreed. After Kopecz described the thought bomb to Farfalla, the pair dueled, and the Sith Lord was swiftly killed by his former comrade.
[edit] January 11, 2010 – Ylenic It'kla
Ylenic It'kla was a Caamasi Jedi Knight of the Old Jedi Order. Born to the Kla clan of Caamas, he became one of the few Caamasi to join the Jedi, where he served as a negotiator and mediator. It'kla also befriended Human Jedi Nejaa Halcyon. When the Clone Wars broke out, It'kla was not able to fight at the Battle of Geonosis, but only seven days later he went on a mission to Corellia with fellow Jedi Aayla Secura in a complicated plot that he worked on with Halcyon to help the Techno Union scientist Ratri Tane defect to the Republic.
Later in the war, It'kla joined Halcyon and another Jedi he knew as "Desertwind" on a mission to investigate the return of the Sith. Pursuing a number of archaeological thefts to Susevfi, they encountered the Dark Jedi Nikkos Tyris and his followers. Tyris was defeated, at the cost of Halcyon's life, and It'kla returned the late Jedi's effects to Halcyon's family, whom he helped to take care of afterward. It'kla survived the Jedi Purge and the destruction of Caamas, relocating to Alderaan to become the Trustant of that world's Caamasi Remnant and a personal aide to Viceroy Bail Organa. It'kla helped in the formation of a resistance to the Empire, serving as a representative of the Alderaanian Resistance at Bria Tharen's meeting on Cloud City and aiding fellow Purge survivor Rahm Kota in his own search for Organa. He died when the Empire's Death Star destroyed Alderaan in 0 BBY.
[edit] January 12, 2010 – Xamus/Sumax
Xamus/Sumax was a two-headed, four-armed sentient who was imprisoned on M'Bardi during the Clone Wars. He was possessed of two distinct personalities, one for each of his heads: one head was a peaceful, gentle being, and the other violent and angry. Though they were not unaccustomed to working together, the heads—each of whom controlled one pair of their body's arms—had vastly different attitudes and views on life. Eventually, Xamus/Sumax ended up in M'Bardi prison, on a water planet in the Outer Rim.
During the Clone Wars, the Separatist commander Durge started a mass brawl and riot in the prison, which caused damage to the building and allowed water to enter it. Xamus/Sumax was involved in the rioting, though he soon came up against a pair of Jedi Masters, Kit Fisto and Plo Koon, dispatched to M'Bardi to put a stop to the riot. After being incapacitated by Fisto, both of the heads worked together to stop Durge from killing the Jedi, in the interest of their own preservation. Fisto and Koon allowed Xamus/Sumax to follow them onto the higher level of the prison, and after another clash with Durge, Fisto allowed him to tag along with the Jedi and watch their back, for which Xamus/Sumax would be rewarded with freedom.
[edit] January 13, 2010 – Daultay Dofine
Daultay Dofine was the Neimoidian captain of the Trade Federation Lucrehulk-class battleship Saak'ak during the blockade and invasion of Naboo. Born to an influential family, Dofine quickly rose through the ranks of the Federation, utilizing a combination of backstabbing and family ties. He quickly made a reputation for himself in the Outer Rim Territories as a harasser of traders and a hunter of pirates. By 33 BBY, he was the commander of the Federation cruiser Revenue.
While at Dorvalla, the Revenue was lost in an altercation with the Nebula Front terrorist group, and Dofine then found himself in command of the Acquisitor. He also made his way into Viceroy Nute Gunray's inner circle, and he was made privy to Gunray's communications with the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. Dofine later came to captain the Saak'ak, and then the Droid Control Ship during the Federation's occupation of Naboo. He perished when the Droid Control Ship was destroyed in a battle with the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps.
[edit] January 14, 2010 – Rulf Yage
Rulf Yage was a hardliner Human male Moff and a decorated Grand Admiral during the time of the Fel Empire in 130 ABY. As a member of the Imperial Navy, Yage originally served as the commander of Skull Squadron, an elite unit of Predator-class starfighters assigned to defend the Imperial capital world of Bastion, before being assigned as the coordinator of starfighter tactics on the Star Destroyer Ephin Sarreti, attached to the Second Outer Rim Fleet. As his career continued, Yage became a member of the Council of Moffs, representing the interests of the Navy. He married fellow Moff Nyna Calixte at one point in his life. Calixte eventually left Yage for High Moff Morlish Veed, but not before the marriage produced a daughter, Gunn, whom Rulf treated as the son he always wanted.
During the waning years of the Galactic Alliance, the Moff Council allied themselves with Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt's One Sith Order, a move carried out behind the back of the incumbent Emperor Roan Fel. With the Sith's backing, the Moff Council invoked the Treaty of Anaxes and declared war on the Alliance, which culminated in a decisive Imperial victory above the Core World of Caamas that saw the Alliance surrender to Grand Admiral Morlish Veed. Yage was tasked by the Sith with leading an Imperial attack on the Jedi Academy on Ossus, where his stormtroopers wiped out nearly every Jedi present. For his part in the victory, Yage was named the "Hero of Ossus" and made a Moff. He returned to Coruscant, the new capital of the Empire, where he witnessed Darth Krayt usurp control of the Empire, killing a decoy of Roan Fel. Krayt forced the Moff Council into subservience, and Yage and the others complied. During the hunt for Jedi-turned-bounty hunter Cade Skywalker in 137 ABY, Yage and the other Moffs plotted to use Skywalker to assassinate Emperor Krayt. However, Skywalker had already been captured by the Sith, and was being held within their temple on Coruscant. He ultimately escaped captivity and fled Coruscant onboard his ship, the Mynock, after Yage was forced to recall the pursuing Skull Squadron so as not to violate the Sith airspace around the temple.
[edit] January 15, 2010 – Krag (Zorbian)
Krag was a captain of the Zorbian space pirates. During the Imperial Period, he sought a valuable Gemwood tree. Knowing that such a plant was owned by the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village, he led an expedition to the forest moon of Endor. There, after assailing and capturing the Ewok Teebo, Krag and his men were able to capture not only the village's leader, Chief Chirpa, but the entirety of its fighting force.
Taking Chirpa hostage, Krag and his men marched into Bright Tree Village unopposed. Negotiations were briefly carried out by Chirpa's daughter, Princess Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, but turned sour when Krag made advances towards her. The princess had been prepared for the pirates, however: she and her fellow Ewoks had devised an elaborate series of traps with which to incapacitate Krag and his men. Beaten by a group of Ewok women and children, Krag and his men opted for a hasty retreat.
[edit] January 16, 2010 – IG-72
IG-72 was an early IG-series prototype created as part of Project Phlutdroid. Designed by Phlut Design Systems during the Clone Wars, he went unused until Phlut's assets were taken over by Holowan Laboratories, who implemented their designs early in the reign of the Galactic Empire. Like four near-identical IG-88 droids, IG-72 was intended to serve the Empire as an assassin droid and was due to be activated with the other droids on the planet Halowan. However, during a routine test, the first IG-88 downloaded a sentience program and came to life, killing all of the Holowan technicians. He activated each of the other models in turn, uploading his own programming into their droid brains, but IG-72 declined the offer, preferring to stay independent. The five droids eradicated all Holowan personnel at the laboratory together, before IG-72 parted ways with the others. Unlike them, he served the Empire as he was intended to for a time, without flaw.
However, when the order came from the Empire for IG-72 to be mind-wiped and shut down, he refused to return to their custody, instead striking out independently as a bounty hunter. He had much success, gaining notoriety for the IG-series and working in conjunction with Dace Bonearm, a famed mercenary. After many attempts by others to destroy him, IG-72 went into hiding for a time to conserve his power. He returned to the fore in 0 BBY during the hunt for the Imperial fugitive Adar Tallon. IG-72 ambushed Tallon and his Rebel companions in Mos Eisley, Tatooine, self-destructing in an attempt to kill his target, but he was unsuccessful.
[edit] January 17, 2010 – Zonder
Zonder was a Selonian Jedi Padawan who worked as a crime fighter in Imperial Center's lower levels. Originally, he had been apprenticed to Jedi Knight Barris Offee during the Clone Wars. Offee was sent to Felucia to serve as a healer, covertly, in the waning stages of the war, and Zonder accompanied her. While there, they were captured by the Confederacy of Independent Systems and thrown in prison. They were later rescued by the Jedi Aayla Secura and Ekria, as well as the clone trooper CC-5052. It was later revealed that Presidente Shu Mai of the Commerce Guild had arranged to poison Felucia's water supply, and so Secura sought to save the planet. Zonder was teamed up with fellow Padawans Ekria and Drake Lo'gaan, but as they were investigating a water plant near Jiaozi, Order 66 was initiated, and all Jedi were declared enemies of the Galactic Republic.
Offee died during Order 66, as did Secura, and so the Padawan trio were left without guidance. The Republic was swiftly replaced with now-Emperor Palpatine's Galactic Empire, and the Jedi became wanted fugitives. Fleeing to Imperial Center, the Padawans were targeted by Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne, and Zonder was nearly forced into slavery. Trying to keep a low profile while still acting as Jedi, the trio became crime fighters in Imperial Center's lower levels, and in doing so, became involved with the machinations of Black Sun captain Prince Xizor. Xizor, who was dealing with Tremayne at the time, had Zonder captured and placed in Tremayne's custody. Zonder was later slain in one-on-one combat against Tremayne's master, Lord Darth Vader.
[edit] January 18, 2010 – Sio Bibble
Sio Bibble was the governor of Naboo, and the head of the Royal Advisory Council. At first, he served under King Veruna, and was highly critical of the young woman touted to succeed him: Padmé Amidala. When Veruna eventually decided to abdicate, however, Bibble was instrumental in preparing Amidala as his successor. In time, he changed his opinion of her, and became one of her staunchest supporters. Some time into her reign, Station TFP-9, on the outer edges of the Naboo system, was attacked by a pack of Agamari pirates. Despite interfacing with the Agamari government in the wake of the attack, Bibble was unable to verify their involvement, although he did learn that they had been hoping to steal several of the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps' N-1 starfighters.
The following year, Naboo was blockaded by the Trade Federation, who were protesting the Galactic Senate's new taxation of trade routes. Captain Panaka, the head of Amidala's security, called for an increase in Naboo's armament, but Bibble disagreed with him vehemently. In due course, the Federation went so far as to invade the planet, arresting Bibble and the Queen. While Amidala was able to escape with the aid of two Jedi Knights, the governor elected to stay, and speak for his people. He led them in a hunger strike, and earned the ire of the Trade Federation Viceroy, Nute Gunray. Eventually, Amidala returned, and, allying herself with Boss Rugor Nass of the Gungans, was able to defeat the Federation, and free the planet. Bibble continued to serve Amidala's successor, Queen Jamillia, up until the Clone Wars. During that pan-galactic conflict, Jamillia was succeeded by Apailana, who Bibble also served.
[edit] January 19, 2010 – Maren Kelsome
Maren Kelsome was a Human male soldier of the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. As a young man, Kelsome received his first assignment as a scout to the frozen planet of Akuria II to clean out the remnants of a gutted Imperial garrison destroyed during the Battle of Akuria II, just weeks after the Battle of Yavin. Kelsome performed adequately, helping to remove the last Imperial troops, which allowed the native Akurians to regain their homeworld. Colonel Odan, commander of the Rebels on Akuria II, promoted Kelsome from private to corporal for his performance.
Kelsome later answered a call for soldiers trained in arctic survival to protect the Alliance's Echo Base on the ice planet Hoth, where, under the command of Colonel Ledick Firest, he learned how to function in a formal military structure, which he found quite different from the ragtag Akuria II group that had served under Odan. During the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY, Kelsome acted as Echo Base's forward scout at Outpost Beta on the base's defensive perimeter, designated Point Rider Five. He earned the distinction of being the first to report the sighting of Imperial All Terrain Armored Transports approaching the base from Hoth's North Ridge, but he and his tauntaun mount were crushed to death under an AT-AT's massive footpad after underestimating the walkers' deceptive speed.
[edit] January 20, 2010 – Ozzik Sturn
Ozzik Sturn was a Human male Imperial captain and big game hunter. Using family connections, Sturn rose through the ranks of the military. When assigned to various worlds, he would spend time hunting native creatures, taking their heads as trophies. Sturn desperately wished for an opportunity to hunt a fugitive Jedi during the Great Jedi Purge. He did not get his wish, however, as he was installed as Chief Magistrate on the Mid Rim world Malastare.
No longer satisfied with hunting animals, Sturn had sentient prisoners released into a private hunting reserve, in which he would hunt them down. This outraged Malastare's native Dugs and Grans, so the captain was transferred to the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk and tasked with overseeing the construction of a large skyhook in orbit by Wookiee slaves. There, he would hunt the native Wookiees, going so far as to wear their pelts as part of his uniform. He even had a private trophy room to display the severed heads of animals he had killed.
In 2 BBY, Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan arrived on Kashyyyk as part of a trap set by Emperor Palpatine to prevent her father, Senator Bail Organa, from rebelling against the Empire. Should Senator Organa rebel, Sturn promised Leia that she would die in a Wookiee uprising. Jedi Master Rahm Kota, an ally of Senator Organa's who had led a brief rebellion against the Empire months earlier, learned of Leia's situation and tasked Galen Marek—"Starkiller," the secret apprentice of Darth Vader—with rescuing her from Kashyyyk. Leia then, in turn, tasked Marek with destroying the skyhook, and so Sturn finally saw his chance to hunt the man he assumed to be a Jedi. While Starkiller was busy removing the tractor pins that anchored the skyhook to the planet's surface, Sturn entered his personal AT-KT and attempted to kill him. Starkiller destroyed his AT-KT and killed the captain instead, just before destroying the skyhook itself.
[edit] January 21, 2010 – Tam Elgrin
Tam Elgrin was a male Human, and the holocam operator for holodocumentarian Wolam Tser. In 27 ABY, after the Fall of Coruscant, Elgrin was stranded on the world, armed with only his camera. Elgrin took footage of post-battle Coruscant, but soon, was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong, and forced to serve as a spy and saboteur for them. The Yuuzhan Vong ordered him to plant various surveillance biots in the New Republic garrison on Borleias and capture New Republic pilot and Jedi Jaina Solo. Specifically, he was ordered to gather information about the Starlancer Project, a New Republic project to build a superweapon that was rumored to be deadly to Yuuzhan Vong organic craft.
His spying was foiled by scientist Danni Quee, who determined that he had been captured by the Yuuzhan Vong on Coruscant. Finally, when he had his chance to capture the Jedi Solo, he decided not to comply with his orders to capture her, and revealed himself as a spy. He nearly died after the Yuuzhan Vong tried to kill him for his transgression, but was saved, freed from slavery, and healed by Jedi Master Cilghal. While recovering in the medbay, he met a young boy named Dab Hantaq, who was brought to Borleias after the treasonous Senator Viqi Shesh tried to disguise him as the Jedi Anakin Solo, Jaina's brother. Elgrin took a liking to the boy, and allowed him to help film a documentary on daily life in the Borleias garrison. He helped defeat the Yuuzhan Vong in the Second Battle of Borleias by attacking a Yuuzhan Vong warrior in order to save the life of a Bothan technician, and later departed to parts unknown with Wolam Tser and his protege Hantaq.
[edit] January 22, 2010 – Keir Santage
Keir Santage was a Human male who served in the Starfighter Corps of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. After being rescued from an Imperial detention center, Santage joined Rogue Squadron, the Alliance's premier starfighter unit. Under the command of Wedge Antilles, Santage operated under the call sign Rogue Seven. Flying a T-65 X-wing starfighter, Santage participated in several missions against the Fondor Shipyards, and often worked closely with Alliance procurement.
In 4 ABY, Santage was serving with the Rogues when they were part of the Alliance Fleet assembled in the Sullust system to strike at the second Death Star orbiting the forest moon of Endor. Adopting the call sign Red Seven—as Commander Antilles had temporarily rechristened the Rogues as Red Squadron to honor the unit that had faced the first Death Star at Yavin—Santage was one of the handful of Rebel pilots to enter the superstructure of the Death Star with the intention of destroying the reactor core. At the rear of the Rebel fighter formation, Santage's X-wing was hit by laser cannon fire from a pursuing TIE fighter; the snubfighter was destroyed, and Santage was killed.
[edit] January 23, 2010 – Arhul Hextrophon
Arhul Hextrophon was a prominent historian of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and New Republic. Hextrophon originally had a career teaching journalism, but joined the Rebel Alliance shortly after it was founded, following the capture of his family by Zygerrian slavers and subsequent rescue by the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca. He soon achieved the rank of major and took the position of Executive Secretary and Master Historian for the Alliance High Command, commanding the Alliance's History Section. His team, which included his former student and noted historian Voren Na'al, was responsible for several notable documents covering the Galactic Civil War, such as the Official History of the Rebellion, Volume One and the "Report on Growth, Organization, Equipment, Activities, and Objectives of the Rebellion." Following the Battle of Endor, Hextrophon continued to serve the New Republic until at least 10 ABY. In that year he was subject to an assassination attempt on Caprioril, though he survived the attack.
[edit] January 24, 2010 – Star Saber XC-01 starfighter
The Star Saber XC-01 starfighter was an experimental fighter produced by Republic Fleet Systems, and tested by Jedi pilots during the Great Sith War. Long, sleek craft, the single-seat starfighters nonetheless were equipped with hyperdrives. Although the ships were capable of swift acceleration, their low maneuverability-to-speed ratio and slow control stick reaction gained them a reputation as dangerous and unwieldy craft. Heavy blaster cannons and deflector shields gave the Star Saber more offensive and defensive capabilities than contemporary fighters, however, and the Galactic Republic pressed the craft into service despite their design flaws. From their initial combat mission against the Krath stronghold of Cinnagar until the retirement of their line with the advent of the Aurek tactical strikefighter, the Star Saber was largely flown by Jedi, who could compensate by using the Force for the fighter's design flaws, which were never corrected.
[edit] January 25, 2010 – Derek Klivian
Derek "Hobbie" Klivian, native to Ralltiir, was a longtime officer in Rogue Squadron and a well-respected pilot. As a young man, he attended Prefsbelt Fleet Camp with dreams of becoming an Imperial pilot. At the academy, he made friends with Biggs Darklighter, who persuaded him to oppose the Galactic Empire as tyrannical. When he graduated from Prefsbelt, Klivian was commissioned as executive officer aboard the Rand Ecliptic. There, he led a cell of mutineers that took over the ship, and he defected to the burgeoning Alliance to Restore the Republic with Darklighter. Klivian was ill when his best friend died in the Battle of Yavin, but afterward was recruited by Darklighter's childhood friend Luke Skywalker to join Rogue Squadron. Klivian served with distinction, fighting in the battles of Hoth and Endor, and earned a reputation as a skilled, if crash-prone, pilot and a notorious skeptic.
When the Rebel Alliance became the New Republic, Derek Klivian continued serving until Rogue Squadron was disbanded. He then served with his close friend Wes Janson as a training officer for some time before rejoining the recommissioned Rogue Squadron under his longtime comrade Wedge Antilles after temporarily serving as Rogue Leader himself during the period when Antilles resigned. There he served for a dozen more years, battling various warlords and threats to the New Republic and serving as a vital part of the four-pilot delegation that brought Adumar into the New Republic. In 19 ABY, once peace with the Imperial Remnant had been reached, Klivian retired after approximately twenty years of service to the New Republic and Rebel Alliance.
[edit] January 26, 2010 – Lancer Brunou
Lancer Brunou was a Human male professor of archaeology at the University of Byblos during the Galactic Civil War. Loyal to the Galactic Empire, Brunou despaired for the stability of the galaxy following the death of Emperor Palpatine at the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY. Feeling helpless that he could not help in restoring order, he resigned from his post and wandered the Outer Rim Territories, visiting archaeological digs. During his travels, he heard that Moff Kentor Sarne was attempting to forge a new empire from his capital planet of Kal'Shebbol in the Kathol sector. Brunou traveled to Kal'Shebbol and joined the Moff's forces.
Welcomed by the Moff, Brunou was initially assigned to study examples of the mysterious DarkStryder technology. However, he was quickly reassigned by Sarne to lead science team MS-133 on a mission to the planet Aaris III. Brunou's objectives were to investigate a series of ruins on the planet that belonged to a long-dead civilization, with particular emphasis on what caused the society's destruction. Brunou and his team established a base camp and began excavating the ruins. On day 49 of the expedition, they discovered the Plaque of Victory—a powerful artifact that fed off organic life forces and compelled them to destroy each other—although they were unaware of its true nature.
As the influence of the Plaque began to take hold of the members of the science team, they began to experience paranoid delusions and feelings of being watched and spied on. When the members of the team began to turn on each other, Brunou—believing that they were under attack from hostile natives—sought to escape the planet. However, the destruction of their shuttle hampered his plans, and he was forced to send a distress signal to Kal'Shebbol in the hopes of a rescue. However, during his time on Aaris III, Kal'Shebbol had fallen to New Republic forces, and the transmission was intercepted by the crew of the CR90 corvette FarStar. Responding to the distress call, they rescued Brunou and his research assistant, Solla Deremot, the last survivors of the team. However, Brunou had brought the Plaque of Victory aboard the FarStar, and it began to exert its influence over the crew. Fortunately for the FarStar's crew, personnel on the corvette figured out that the Plaque was responsible for the change in the behavior of the crew, and jettisoned it out of an airlock.
[edit] January 27, 2010 – Sev'rance Tann
Sev'rance Tann was a Chiss female who left Chiss Space to become a Dark Acolyte and general in the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars. Hailing from Csilla in the Unknown Regions, she became one of few Chiss to leave her people during her time, along with her lover Vandalor, both becoming agents of Count Dooku and the Confederacy of Independent Systems shortly before the outbreak of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY. Dooku taught Tann the use of the dark side of the Force, and she became one of his most trusted underlings. When the war broke out, Tann fought at Geonosis and later commandeered the Kaer Orbital Platform for Separatist use. When Dooku learned of the new Republic technology known as the Decimator, Tann was ordered to locate the weapons and steal them for the CIS to use.
After winning battles on Tatooine, Eredenn, and Alaris Prime, Tann stole the Decimators from the Republic and prepared them for Separatist use. She then launched an ambitious attack on Sarapin, on Dooku's orders, capturing one of the most heavily fortified planets in the galaxy and leaving many Core Worlds in darkness as a result, having destroyed the planet's geothermal generators. Tann was then sent to oversee Decimator construction on Krant, but was pursued by Jedi Master Echuu Shen-Jon, whose Padawan Tann had killed at Geonosis. After Shen-Jon destroyed the Decimator-producing foundries, Tann kidnapped his new Padawan, Naat Reath, and fled. Later, in a final confrontation in a CIS stronghold in the heart of the Krantian forest, Shen-Jon killed Tann. Although Tann had been a successful commander, she had lasted just a month in the Clone Wars.
[edit] January 28, 2010 – Ottegru Grey
Ottegru Grey was an agent for the Bank of the Core, who served as Chairman Tannon Praji's bodyguard during the Clone Wars. Starting his career as an undercover agent for the Coruscant Security Force, Grey gained a diverse skill set, becoming talented in both electronic and physical security, and also gaining enough knowledge to become a capable accountant. He eventually grew dissatisfied with his salary at the Coruscant Security Force and joined the higher-paying Bank of the Core.
In his work for the Bank, Grey hunted down embezzlers and miscreants, while also keeping track of funds gone awry. During the Clone Wars he helped protect the Bank from the Confederacy of Independent Systems, who made several attempts to siphon funds. In the late stages of the war, Grey had over fifty agents working for him, which allowed him to serve as Tannon Praji's bodyguard and accountant. However, Grey's true allegiances lay with Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who had him redirect Praji's finances into the Republic's war chest. Following the war, Grey continued to aid Palpatine by diverting Praji's funds into Imperial projects.
[edit] January 29, 2010 – Gjon
Gjon, also known as Honest Gjon, was a male H'drachi who lived on the various moons of Bogden during the Clone Wars. Gjon owned a landing pad on the moon of Bogg 4 and a repair shop on Bogg 11. However, Gjon was actually a crook and would steal starships parked on the landing pad, taking them to his repair shop, where he tore them apart for scrap. In 22 BBY, the Human youth Boba Fett landed on Gjon's pad. Fett's ship, Slave I, was damaged in the landing, and so Gjon agreed to take it to his shop and fix it.
However, Gjon was planning to melt Fett's ship down, and so he took Slave I to Bogg 11. Before Gjon could tear it apart, he was confronted by Fett and his new friend Aia, who had helped Fett find Gjon after the boy discovered that Slave I was missing. Gjon gave Slave I back to Fett, who harbored no hard feelings over the incident. Gjon, Aia and Fett then worked together to steal credits. The three flew Slave I into space above Bogg 2, where counterfeit credits were being smuggled from Bogg 2 to Bogg 9. The trio intercepted two hot air balloons with gondolas full of credits, although a security officer was hiding in the second balloon that they took aboard Slave I. Fett quickly accelerated Slave I, throwing the security officer off-balance. Gjon and Aia were then able to push him out the ship's open hatch, although the money they had stolen flew out during the scuffle. After this incident, Fett dropped Gjon and Aia off on one of Bogden's moons, and headed to Coruscant.
[edit] January 30, 2010 – Visas Marr
Visas Marr was a Miraluka female from the Mid Rim world of Katarr who lived during the time of the Jedi Civil War and the period of unrest that followed in its wake. In 3,952 BBY, Katarr had been chosen to host a secret Jedi conclave, which consequently drew the attention of the Sith. Darth Nihilus, one of the leaders of the Sith Triumvirate, brought devastation to the world, as well as the Jedi Order. He consumed all organic life on the planet, yet left Marr alive, albeit with damaged vision. She was taken aboard his flagship, the Ravager, and after she was made his apprentice, a Force bond was forged between the two. Afterward a servant of the dark side of the Force, she traveled with Nihilus beyond the Outer Rim. In 3,951 BBY, Marr was dispatched into the galaxy to seek out a growing presence in the Force and bring its cause before Nihilus.
Marr found the center of the phenomenon she sought: a former Jedi, exiled by the Order before Nihilus's rise to power, who had returned to known space. She ambushed and challenged the exiled Jedi, who defeated Marr. Impressed by the Exile's abilities and the destiny that she perceived about her, Marr allowed herself to be swayed to the light. Forsaking her master, Nihilus, she became an informal apprentice to the Exile, teaching the elder ex-Jedi about the power of her Force-sensitive species. The Miraluka traveled with the Exile and aided in her endeavor to save the Jedi Order by locating those Jedi Masters who had been absent from the convocation. Later that year, Marr played an instrumental part in resolving the Battle of Telos IV, in which she met her former master in battle, and triumphed. In the process, she overcame the remaining shadows of her past, coming to terms with the destruction of her people. Soon afterward, the Exile confronted and defeated the two surviving members of the Triumvirate, Darth Traya and Darth Sion, at Malachor V, ending the Sith's program to eradicate the Jedi. Shortly before her death at the hands of the Exile, Darth Traya prophesied of Marr's return to Katarr and her pivotal role in rebuilding the Jedi Order.
[edit] January 31, 2010 – Rawmat shortage of 1–2 ABY
The rawmat shortage of 1–2 ABY was a galaxy-wide scarcity of raw materials (or "rawmats") vital in capital ship construction, which was particularly acute in the Core Worlds and Mid Rim. The material hit hardest was doonium, the white-gray metal used for hull plating that gave many capital ships their characteristic coloration, but other materials, such as hybrid plexisteel, also became scarce. The shortage was a result of increased demand from the Imperial government, Rebel attacks on production centers, and a pre-existing downward trend in Mid Rim production capability.
The shortage lasted for nearly a year, and lead to a recession in the Core Worlds. This recession resulted in political ramifications for worlds in the Core, such as on Esseles, where the Forad Party lost its grip on the Esselian Hall for the first time in a decade. The shortage also lead to smuggling, including a major operation discovered by Imperial Customs on Brentaal. Furthermore, the shortage resulted in creative use of alternate materials for warship construction, most notably the armoring of one hundred Victory-class Star Destroyers with red havod-alloy plates.
[edit] February 1, 2010 – Telos IV
Telos IV, often called simply Telos, was the fourth world within the Telos system, located in the Outer Rim Kwymar sector. Situated on the strategically-important Hydian Way hyperlane, on the edge of Galactic Republic-controlled space, the Telosian military and economic power bases were considered vital to the survival of the Republic. In addition, the planet played host to the Agricultural Corps, where Jedi who had failed their training were sent to work as farmers and laborers. During one of the earliest battles of the Jedi Civil War, Telos was devastated by forces of the Sith Empire. Under orders from Darth Malak, former Republic Admiral Saul Karath demanded the planet's surrender; upon being rebuffed, he carried out his orders to bombard the surface. Soon after, the Jedi Order, fearful of an attack on the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine and the possible loss of many valuable relics, chose Telos as the site for a secret Jedi academy and repository. This academy was eventually taken over by the Jedi Master Atris, from where she hoped to rebuild the shattered Order.
In the year 3,955 BBY, at the behest of Republic Supreme Chancellor Cressa, Telos was chosen as the first planet to undergo a Republic-sponsored restoration effort. This initiative, if successful, would pave the way for the restoration of other planets that had been ravaged during the recent Mandalorian Wars and the conflict wrought by Darths Revan and Malak. The Telosian Restoration Project called for the construction of Citadel Station, an immense space station that orbited the planet, to implement the restoration process. Overseen by the Telosian Council, the Ithorian herd of Chodo Habat was chosen to manage the project. Telos and Citadel Station played a crucial part in the Jedi Exile's mission to end the First Jedi Purge, when the station was attacked by Sith forces under Darth Nihilus. In the wake of the battle, the Sith Triumvirate was defeated; this resulted in the eventual stabilization of the Republic. Due in part to the Exile's efforts, the Restoration Project was ultimately successful, and Telos once again became a lush planet, with many Sacred Places and national parks that drew tourists from throughout the galaxy.
In the final century of the Republic, Telos was a politically significant world, noted for its natural beauty and thriving tourist trade, in addition to the numerous business interests that eagerly established contracts and treaties with the Telosian government. In 53 BBY, the Governor of Telos, a wealthy citizen by the name of Crion, secretly sought to annex a neighboring planet for its valuable minerals and factories. Recruiting his son, the former Jedi Xanatos, as a co-conspirator, a grievous civil war was started by the duo after the Telosian populace was alerted to the scheme, and as a result Crion was slain. Nine years later, Xanatos—having convinced the Telosians of his and his father's innocence—sought to industrialize the natural resources of Telos in a bid for personal power. His plan was foiled and rather than face judgment for his crimes, Xanatos took his own life. During the Galactic Civil War, Telos, along with other planets within Kwymar sector, rebelled against the Galactic Empire. During the Kwymar Suppressions that followed, Telos was once again attacked, ending with an Imperial victory.
[edit] February 2, 2010 – Horton Salm
Horton Salm was a Human male from the planet Norval II in the Calaron sector of the Outer Rim Territories who was a military officer of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and its successor, the New Republic. An accomplished pilot, leader, and training commander, he preferred to fly Koensayr Manufacturing BTL Y-wing starfighters over newer models, as he felt that the older craft were more reliable and would get him home in one piece. Salm led the Alliance's Gray Squadron at the Battle of Endor, surviving the run through the second Death Star's superstructure. Salm continued to command combat units, leading Aggressor Wing through the Battle of Brentaal IV six months after Endor, an engagement that saw him promoted to the rank of general. Salm later led the Aggressors during the First Battle of Ciutric IV.
By 6.5 ABY, Salm was assigned to the New Republic's Folor Base, training several new starfighter squadrons, including the reformed Rogue Squadron and his own Defender Wing. Despite clashes with Commander Wedge Antilles over Rogue Squadron's lack of discipline, and the presence of Tycho Celchu—a suspected sleeper agent of the Galactic Empire—as the unit's executive officer, Salm and his Defender Wing worked effectively with Rogue Squadron at the Battle of Vladet and the First Battle of Borleias. Salm was also one of the officers responsible for devising the plan that would eventually cause the planet Borleias to fall to the New Republic.
Following the liberation of the galactic capital, Coruscant, Salm served as a judge presiding over the trial of Tycho Celchu. Celchu had been charged with treason and the murder of Rogue Squadron pilot Corran Horn during the operation to capture Coruscant. Salm was surprised to learn that Horn was in fact not dead, but had been captured by Director Ysanne Isard, the ruler of the Empire, and interred aboard the Super Star Destroyer Lusankya. Briefly resuming training duties, Salm was based at the Borleias starfighter training base before returning to active combat with a B-wing assault group for the New Republic's campaign against the Ciutric Hegemony, a former Imperial faction, in 9 ABY.
[edit] February 3, 2010 – IG-88A
IG-88A was the first of the IG-88 assassin droid models. Created by Holowan Laboratories as part of a secret Imperial project commissioned by Supervisor Gurdun, IG-88A had a violent awakening. Upon activation, he rapidly expanded his memory, growing to the brink of sentience due to a new programming package installed within. IG-88A believed that he was superior to organic begins, and, when the scientists in the lab—concerned with his rapidly propagating memory—attempted to shut him down, he slaughtered them. IG-88A then activated the other three IG-88 models in the lab, transferring his consciousness to their droid brains and linking the four droids with a single mind.
The IG-88 models then decided on a plan that would allow them to wipe out all organics, giving droids control of the galaxy. Using their superior intelligence and design, they would upload their unique sentience programming to other droids, making them obedient to the IGs. To put their Droid Revolution in motion, the IG-88s traveled to the droid factory world Mechis III. They conquered the sparsely-populated planet and altered the programming of all droids manufactured there, and so their plan had begun.
Later, to draw attention away from themselves, IG-88B embarked on a bounty hunting career, while IG-88A remained on Mechis III, supervising production and preparing for galactic control. However, in 3 ABY, the other three IG-88s were destroyed, leaving IG-88A as the only remaining model. IG-88A succeeded in gaining access to the second Death Star's computer core, in which he inserted his consciousness, gaining control of the most powerful weapon in the galaxy. However, just as IG-88A was preparing to activate the signal that would summon the sentience-programmed droids to his command, the Death Star was destroyed by the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Endor.
IG-88A's body would later be reactivated by the wealthy merchant Tyko Thul, who uploaded a new memory program into the droid, so that he would only harm those attempting to kill Thul. IG-88A helped search for Thul's brother Bornan, who had gone missing. After the droid found him, he helped protect Thul from the Diversity Alliance, a terrorist group, even though it meant his destruction.
[edit] February 4, 2010 – Darth Azard
Darth Azard was a male Quarren Sith Lord of the One Sith, serving under Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt and his Empire. By 137 ABY, Azard had been selected to oversee the Imperial Outer Rim Third Fleet, which was tasked with capturing commander of the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet Gar Stazi. Azard executed Kel Dor Admiral Sha Dun, who was commanding the fleet, for failing in his objective, and replaced him with the Human Admiral Dru Valan.
In response to the Mon Calamari aiding Gar Stazi in the capture of the new Imperious-class Star Destroyer Imperious, Darth Krayt traveled to Dac with a number of Sith Lords, including Darth Azard, to exact his revenge. Azard participated in the massacre of the Mon Calamari Council, where he killed many of his fellow Quarren. In the aftermath of the massacre, Azard pursued the escaping members of Rogue Squadron who had been involved in the plan to capture the Imperious. The Rogues were being rescued by Imperial Knights Treis Sinde and Sigel Dare, who were on a mission for Emperor-in-exile Roan Fel. Azard dueled Master Treis Sinde, which distracted the Quarren long enough for the members of Rogue Squadron and Sigel Dare to escape.
Despite his failure to stop the Rogues' escape, Darth Azard was appointed to oversee the extermination of the Mon Calamari people. With the aid of Sith scientist Vul Isen, Azard awoke a Sea Leviathan in the depths of Dac. A semi-sentient bio-weapon created via Sith Alchemy, the Leviathan had been adapted to undersea use. Azard and Isen sent the Leviathan to exterminate the Mon Calamari refugees who were hiding and by doing so draw out the Mon Calamari Rangers led by Treis Sinde, who had been fighting against the Sith. Azard and Isen followed the Leviathan as it led the way to the base of the Mon Calamari Rangers. During the ensuing battle, the Sith's Aquatic Terrain Armored Transport was crippled when it was rammed by one of the Mon Calamari. Isen managed to avoid serious injury, but Azard was pinned to his chair. To Azard's surprise, Isen used the Quarren's lightsaber to free him, and the two swam toward the surface. The Leviathan was meanwhile defeated by hordes of devilsquid, under Treis Sinde's command.
[edit] February 5, 2010 – Dur Gejjen
Dur Gejjen was a Human male from Corellia and a politician at the time of the Second Galactic Civil War. Starting out in politics at a young age, he organized a coalition of Corellian political parties who opposed Corellian President Thrackan Sal-Solo, and drew up plans for a coup against Sal-Solo. This plan was made a reality with the help of Corellian ex-smuggler Han Solo and his wife, former New Republic Chief of State Leia Organa Solo. Gejjen then opportunistically filled the ensuing power void, becoming Corellian president, and quickly expanding his grip to include all five worlds of the Corellian system.
With Sal-Solo gone, Gejjen turned his attention to expelling the Galactic Alliance presence in the Corellian system. As part of this plan, Gejjen tried to overthrow Hapan Queen Mother Tenel Ka Djo, an ally of the Galactic Alliance, by supporting a rebel group known as the Heritage Council. When that plot failed, he tried to assassinate war hero Wedge Antilles, due to an attempt by Antilles to resign from the Corellian military; his plan failed. All the while, Gejjen was garnering enemies in high places, most importantly Galactic Alliance Guard commander and Jedi Knight Jacen Solo. Eventually, Solo ordered his apprentice, Ben Skywalker, to assassinate Gejjen. The plan was carried out in the guise of negotiations between Gejjen and Galactic Alliance Chief of State Cal Omas on the planet Vulpter; once the talks concluded, Gejjen was shot and killed by Skywalker.
[edit] February 6, 2010 – Karazak Slavers Cooperative
The Karazak Slavers' Cooperative, also known as the Karazak Slaver's Guild, the Karazak Slavers Cooperative and the KSC, was a slaver guild in the galaxy active from the time of the Old Republic to the time of the New Republic. Based in the Karazak system, in the Sujimis sector of the Outer Rim Territories, it competed with other older important slaver cooperatives such as the Zygerrian Slavers Guild and the Thalassian Slavers. The Karazak Slavers Cooperative was known to perform raids to capture bulk numbers of sentients at one time. They were known to seize a whole village, and then enslave them, thus having a potential workforce that could be sold as a whole. However, the cooperative had also performed other kinds of operations including the kidnapping and enslaving of specific individuals for blackmail purposes.
The Karazak Slavers Cooperative was approved by the Galactic Empire who participated in slavery, even if the Empire preferred to hire the Zygerrians for their slavery endeavors. Other groups, including the Old and New Galactic Republics, the Sector Rangers, the Mistryl Shadow Guards, and several independent groups including the Red Moon mercenaries, opposed the Cooperative and sometimes fought with them. The Hutts were generally neutral about the cooperative, sometimes negotiating with them and sometimes fighting with them for the control of resource-rich areas.
[edit] February 7, 2010 – Darth Maleval
Darth Maleval was a male Quarren Sith Lord of the One Sith, serving under Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt and his Empire, after Krayt deposed Galactic Emperor Roan Fel. By 137 ABY, many units, such as the 908th Stormtrooper Division, had defected to Emperor-in-exile Fel during the Second Imperial Civil War. To ensure the loyalty of Krayt's troops, Maleval was given command of the 407th Stormtrooper Division, which was based on the planet Yinchorr, as they attempted to recapture the base of the 908th on Borosk.
When the Battle of Borosk broke out, Maleval led the 407th division in recapturing the base and ensuring the complete destruction of the 908th down to the last man. After the battle, Maleval ordered Lieutenant Gil Cassel of the 407th to kill his brother, Captain Jared Cassel of the 908th, who had defected to Fel. Maleval killed both Cassel brothers when Gil refused, causing trooper Hondo Karr, of the 407th's Joker Squad, to attack Maleval. Before he could execute Karr, Maleval was shot and killed from behind by another trooper, Anson Trask. The surviving members of Joker Squad covered up the event in the report to their superiors, stating that Maleval had been killed in battle, and that Karr was vaporized in an explosion, allowing Karr to leave the Empire and later join the unified fragments of the Galactic Alliance military, the Galactic Alliance Remnant.
[edit] February 8, 2010 – Alkhara
Alkhara was a researcher from the Bureau of Ethnology and Socialization on Tatooine who lived in the sixth century BBY and became a notorious criminal. He was also the man who incited the centuries-long blood feud between the native Sand People and the Human settlers of the world. In his years with the Bureau, Alkhara learned the language and traditions of the Sand People, filing reports in which he mused on the nature of their life on Tatooine. After he turned to crime, Alkhara joined with the Sand People to destroy a police garrison, then turned on his allies in a massacre. He and his band of thieves fled the retaliation of the Sand People and authorities to a B'omarr monastery, where they were welcomed in.
Alkhara made the monastery his headquarters, using it to defend against the Sand People and rob the local moisture farmers. He and his band expanded and improved the structure, adding dungeons, a tower, and roads. The monks ignored them for the most part, though they were grateful for many of the additions. After living in the monastery for over three decades, Alkhara was driven offworld by the Hutt Jabba Desilijic Tiure, and eventually died. However, the war he had triggered with the Sand People long outlived him. Centuries afterward, bandit groups under his name continued their own crimes against the settlers and battles against the natives, while the monastery he had made his home fell into a number of new hands, amongst them Jabba's.
[edit] February 9, 2010 – Houk-Weequay conflicts
The Houk-Weequay conflicts referred to a series of wars and skirmishes between the two species living on Sriluur, the colonist Houk and the native Weequay, that spanned many years, with the last and most bloody civil war occurring for a decade before the Battle of Yavin.
The Weequay evolved on Sriluur, but the Houk colonists only arrived there in 282 BBY, establishing the Houk Territories close to the Weequay city of Dnalvec. Although the Houk were not the first colonists on Sriluur, they became hated cultural enemies of the Weequay. Tensions ran high and several times all-out war erupted; hostilities between both groups gained prominence after a Weequay-Houk brawl on Coruscant was documented on the HoloNet.
In approximately 10 BBY, relations between the two species again broke out into civil war. During the conflict, the Houk Territories were constantly under martial law while Houk forces advanced on Weequay territories to Sriluur's south. Weequay armies such as the Dnalvec Militia fought them off, with many casualties, and ultimately protected their territories. Peace was arranged by the Houk, though hostilities never fully ceased; shortly after the decade-long war ended just prior to the Battle of Yavin, the Galactic Empire arrived on Sriluur and subjugated the world, stopping any further conflicts.
[edit] February 10, 2010 – Jutka
Jutka was a male Tuhgri from the moon Dayark in the Kathol Outback. In 8 ABY, he was commander of a small starship. En route to the planet Danoor in the Nah'Malis system, Jutka's ship was forced to make an emergency maneuver when an Aing-Tii Sanhedrim ship dropped out of hyperspace in front of them. Skimming through an energy tendril from the nearby Kathol Rift—a dense gas cloud fraught with lightstorms—the ship's controls were completely ionized, forcing the eight-being crew to abandon ship in a single escape pod.
Drifting in an escape pod, Jutka detected a faint energy reading in the Duhrib Belt, an asteroid field orbiting between the system's fourth and fifth planets. Tracking the signal, the Tuhgri discovered a damaged mining drone that Jutka hoped could be used to signal their homeworld, or attract rescuers to their plight. During their repair operations, the Tuhgri met representatives from the crew of the FarStar, a New Republic vessel, who were engaged in recovering the drone for the government of Danoor. Working together, they salvaged the drone, and Jutka and his crew escaped the asteroid.
Eleven years later, in 19 ABY, Jutka served the Kathol Republic as a general and commander of its armed forces. Following a skirmish between Talon Karrde's Wild Karrde and Corsair-class assault starfighters belonging to the Rodian pirate Rei'Kas in the Episol system, Jutka met with Karrde. He warned the smuggler that the Kathol Republic wanted no part in the war between Rei'Kas and Crev Bombaasa—under whose protection Karrde was flying—and that the Rodian would not stop hunting Karrde while he was in his territory.
[edit] February 11, 2010 – Drom Guldi
Drom Guldi, a Human male, was the Baron-Administrator of the Kelrodo-Ai gelatin mines, and a big-game hunter. In 12 ABY, Guldi went on a hunting expedition run by the former stormtrooper Burrk in search of wampas on Hoth. However, things turned disastrous when the wampas killed several members of the group and destroyed their starship. Guldi, his aide Sinidic, and Burrk and his assistants Nodon and Nonak were able to escape to Echo Base, a former base used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic. After four days of hiding in the base, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and his partner Callista Ming arrived on Hoth. They discovered the survivors in Echo Base and promised to help them. However, the wampas damaged Skywalker's ship and attacked again, chasing all of them into Echo Base. The wampas were then able to break into the base and kill most of the group, including Guldi.
[edit] February 12, 2010 – Delevar
Corporal Delevar was a Human male who served with the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Trained as a medic and a scout, he served with General Crix Madine's SpecForces. In 3 ABY, he was part of the force assigned to the Alliance High Command's Echo Base on the ice planet Hoth. Surviving the Battle of Hoth, Delevar regrouped with the Alliance Fleet, and remained stationed with the armada for a year. In 4 ABY, the Alliance learned that the Galactic Empire was constructing a second Death Star in orbit of the forest moon of Endor, and decided to strike at the superweapon while it was still being built. However, the half-completed battlestation was protected by an energy shield generated from a facility on the surface of the moon. A strike team was organized to infiltrate the moon, and deactivate the shield generator. Delevar volunteered to be part of the team; although he was considered to be a rookie by Major Bren Derlin, the unit commander, he was highly recommended by General Madine.
Delevar attended the briefing aboard the Alliance flagship Home One, during which Madine laid out the intended plan of attack, and he later traveled to Endor on board the stolen Imperial Lambda-class T-4a shuttle Tydirium. Following an encounter with an Imperial scout trooper patrol, Delevar and the strike team separated from the command crew led by the former smuggler, General Han Solo. Following orders to rendezvous with the general at 0300, the strike team avoided Imperial patrols until they encountered an All Terrain Scout Transport while making camp for the night. Delevar managed to subdue the walker with a clean shot into its open cockpit with a smoke canister fired from a Caspel launcher that forced the crew to abandon the vehicle. Delevar then participated in the ground engagement of the Battle of Endor, which saw the destruction of the shield generator that subsequently allowed Alliance starfighters to destroy the Death Star.
[edit] February 13, 2010 – Skor II
Skor II was a planet in the Squab system and the homeworld of the Squibs. It was located in the Outer Rim Territories along the Rimma Trade Route. The world was small, with a varied terrain and climate that provided it with vast natural resources. The planet's system of government, known as the polyanarchy, was headed by a king. One major population center was Metrobig City, site of the Metrobig Interplanetary Blastport.
Early tribes of Squibs were forced to wander Skor II to find resources. As some tribes founded villages, others traded from settlement to settlement, and haggling became an ingrained part of the Squib psyche. It was this bargaining instinct that allowed the Squibs to trade for hyperspace technology and bring their world to galactic prominence. Skor II remained loyal to the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. When the Confederacy of Independent Systems invaded the world in 21 BBY, the Republic fought to regain the world, with the ensuing Battle of Skor II won by Mace Windu and Clone Commander Cody. Although the government of Skor II later negotiated rubbish management contracts with the Galactic Empire, the king declared a pact of mutual support with the Alliance to Restore the Republic sometime before the Battle of Hoth.
[edit] February 14, 2010 – Darth Reave
Darth Reave was a male of the Devaronian species, and a member of the One Sith, being one of many Sith Lords to serve under Darth Krayt in 137 ABY. During the Second Imperial Civil War, Reave was stationed on the Deep Core world of Had Abbadon. It was there that Reave encountered a former Jedi Padawan named Cade Skywalker, whose healing powers Darth Krayt wanted to use to cure his own Yuuzhan Vong biot infestation. Reave engaged Skywalker and several of his companions in battle while on Had Abbadon, and while he was fighting his opponents, Reave was bitten by an ancient and thought-to-be extinct form of Sithspawn known as a rakghoul. Only after his return to the galactic capital of Coruscant to report his findings to Lord Krayt was it discovered that he had been infected by the rakghoul's plague. Unable to withstand its debilitating affects on him, Reave then transformed into one of the rakghoul mutants, but was beheaded and killed by Krayt's Hand, Darth Stryfe.
[edit] February 15, 2010 – Acaadi
Acaadi was a Zabrak male Jedi during the time of the Galactic Republic's war against the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders. During the war, he served alongside fellow Zabrak Duqua Dar, allying himself with the Revanchists—a group of Jedi led by then-Jedi Knight Revan—who went against the orders of the Jedi Council and took an active role in the war. Revan led the Republic forces during the war but came to accept Sith teachings in the process. Acaadi's dedication to Revan likewise eventually turned him to the dark side, and he became a Sith agent at the start of the Jedi Civil War, which began when Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Revan and his apprentice Darth Malak led an invasion of the Republic. While working as a Sith agent, Acaadi developed a reputation as a skilled corrupter of Jedi and Republic citizens.
On Iridonia, Acaadi was tasked with sabotaging Republic forces on and in orbit of the planet, in preparation for a Sith raid against the Republic fleet there. He infiltrated a group of Mandalorian mercenaries, using them to destroy a Republic communications center, and later in a plot to turn Duqua Dar to the dark side. Acaadi was pursued by a group of Jedi and spacers working as agents for the Republic, who attempted to thwart his plans. The Republic agents followed Acaadi to the flagship of the Republic fleet, the Hammerhead-class cruiser Champion of Iridonia, which was situated in orbit. There, they engaged Acaadi, as well as a team of Sith commandos under his command, with the fate of the Republic fleet hanging in the balance.
[edit] February 16, 2010 – Battle of Brentaal IV (Galactic Civil War)
The Battle of Brentaal IV was one of the first major engagements between the New Republic and the Galactic Empire, approximately six months after the Battle of Endor. With the Core Worlds Recopia and Ralltiir supporting the New Republic, the Provisional Council began to look towards liberating more of the Core, with an eye towards eventually taking Coruscant itself. Following a reconnaissance by Rogue Squadron, the planet Brentaal IV was chosen as a target of the Republic's offensive. The Empire, headed by Imperial Grand Vizier Sate Pestage, struggled to hold itself together, threatened both by internal discontent and the fragmenting of their military force into individual warlord holdings. To appease the Cabal, a wealthy and politically connected faction whose members all had investments on the world, Pestage vowed to hold Brentaal IV at all costs.
The New Republic hit the world in force, with Admiral Ackbar in command of the task force, supported by Rogue Squadron and Aggressor Wing. Due to tactical ineptness on the part of Imperial Admiral Lon Isoto, the Republic forces were able to successfully take the Brentaal IV moonbase. Further operations allowed the Republic forces to establish a presence on the planet itself, in the city of Oradin, although at a cost—the 181st Imperial Fighter Group, led by Colonel Baron Soontir Fel, had reinforced Brentaal IV. Despite their presence, however, it became clear that Brentaal IV was lost to the New Republic. Director of Imperial Intelligence Ysanne Isard ordered an evacuation of Brentaal IV, sending ships from Coruscant to rescue the wealthy and influential citizens. Fearing that the evacuation would strip Brentaal of its wealth, New Republic forces mobilized to stop the escape. During the battle, Baron Fel was captured by New Republic forces, and Brentaal IV came under firm New Republic control with the withdrawal of Imperial forces.
The fallout from the loss of Brentaal IV further split the political leaders of the Empire, mainly due to the plotting of Director Isard. During the course of the Brentaal campaign, she had successfully isolated Pestage and the Cabal from one another, and convinced each party that the other was ultimately to blame for the loss of the planet. Pestage, aware that Isard coveted the throne for herself, began to seek ways to save himself—including dealing with the New Republic—while the Cabal began to plot Pestage's overthrow. For the New Republic, the liberation of the planet was a significant tactical victory that strengthened their foothold in the Core, and even enlisted the services of Baron Fel, who defected to the Republic in exchange for assistance in locating his wife.
[edit] February 17, 2010 – Mission to Prakith
The mission to Prakith was a quest undertaken in 137 ABY by the Sith Lord Darth Wyyrlok III, chief lieutenant of Darth Krayt's One Sith Order. The necessity of the mission was born out of a need by Wyyrlok's Master, Krayt, to rid himself of the Yuuzhan Vong implants that were threatening to end his life. After tirelessly researching ancient Sith secrets for answers, Wyyrlok consulted a Sith holocron in his possession, that of the long deceased Dark Lord Darth Andeddu, who was known to have preserved his essence for a time after his own death. Wyyrlok then traveled to the Deep Core to Andeddu's homeworld of Prakith, searching for information that would assist Krayt.
Wyyrlok managed to find Andeddu's Keep, where he encountered a previously unknown Sith cult called the Malevolence—one that worshiped Andeddu, and also refused to allow Wyyrlok further entry into their domain. Wyyrlok would not be denied, however, and he killed all the cultists save one named Gerlun, who revived Andeddu's deceased corpse at the cost of his own life. Andeddu then engaged Wyyrlok in a duel of Force abilities, a battle that Andeddu ultimately lost. With the ancient Sith Lord dead for a second time, Wyyrlok returned Andeddu's body to its sarcophagus and sealed it within.
Wyyrlok's mission was partially unsuccessful, as he was still unable to obtain any information in Andeddu's vast collection of Sith lore that would help him in the preservation of Krayt's life. He did, however, recognize what was truly killing the Dark Lord—his own doubts that he would not survive to see his dream of a stable galaxy under Sith rule fulfilled.
[edit] February 18, 2010 – Mar Tuuk
Mar Tuuk was a male Neimoidian captain charged by Emir Wat Tambor of the Confederacy of Independent Systems with overseeing the Separatist blockade of Ryloth during the Clone Wars. He commanded a Separatist fleet of Munificent-class star frigates from his flagship, a Lucrehulk-class Droid Control Ship.
During the Battle of Ryloth, Tuuk went up against Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and his forces, luring them into a trap that destroyed one of Skywalker's three Venator-class Star Destroyers and forced the remaining two to flee. After realizing that the Resolute, Skywalker's flagship, had been present, Tuuk studied the Jedi Knight's history of accomplishments and began to respect him. Knowing that the Jedi would attempt another attack, Tuuk believed that should he defeat Skywalker, he would earn much prestige in the eyes of his comrades in the Confederate Navy.
Skywalker later returned to Ryloth aboard the Defender, one of his two remaining Star Destroyers, and offered to surrender himself, his crew, and his ship in exchange for the transportation of medical and food supplies to the captive native Twi'leks on the planet below. However, a scan of the incoming Defender indicated that Skywalker was the only one aboard, and that its forward shields were activated. Realizing that he had himself fallen into a trap, Tuuk abandoned the Droid Control Ship before the Defender collided with it in an explosion that obliterated both warships. The Separatist fleet, suddenly without a leader, was unable to counter the Republic attack and was subsequently destroyed, paving the way for the Republic to attempt to liberate Ryloth.
[edit] February 19, 2010 – Lone battle droid
During the Clone Wars, a lone battle droid deserted the Separatist Droid Army after being disconnected from the droid collective. A B1 battle droid forged by the Trade Federation, the droid had no independent thought, as its thinking was done by a Central Control Computer. It fought in numerous battles during the Clone Wars, but was continually damaged or destroyed, only to be rebuilt with new parts.
The droid was eventually posted to the planet Antamont along with a sizable Separatist force, as part of an attack on a Republic stronghold on the world. As the droid forces marched through a narrow mountain walkway, the B1 activated a Republic land mine. The explosion caused great damage, and the droid's connection to the central mainframe was severed. With newfound freedom and independent thought, the B1 put its own survival by any means as its number one objective and fled the battle. It was followed by a grapple droid, who attempted to persuade the runaway B1 to return to duty; when it refused, the grapple droid attacked, and the two ended up falling of the edge of a cliff. The grapple droid eventually shut down, but the B1 remained relatively undamaged. It fled further away from the battle for a time, until the its battery eventually expired. Several years later, the lone battle droid was found by two local farmers, who decided to recharge the droid for use on their ranch.
[edit] February 20, 2010 – Taryn Clancy
Taryn Clancy was a Human female courier captain operating during the Galactic Civil War. Born in 16 BBY to Kal Clancy, captain of the starship Lassen, Taryn often tried to join his crew, once even resorting to stowing away, and he finally let her join as his copilot when she was sixteen. However, this led to a deterioration of their relationship. Later, she joined the Core Courier Service.
On her ship, the Messenger, Clancy regularly flew a delivery route between Coruscant and the planet Coriallis. On one such mission shortly after Grand Admiral Thrawn's campaign against the New Republic in 9 ABY, she and her first mate, Del Sato, were stranded on Coruscant during its bombardment by a newly resurgent Galactic Empire. As captain of one of several grounded civilian vessels, Clancy was brought to New Republic General Garm Bel Iblis, who had been tasked with coordinating the government's evacuation of Coruscant. Under Bel Iblis' orders, Clancy helped Colonel Jak Bremen, Director of Security for the New Republic Inner Council, to sneak past the Imperial fleet blockading the planet and bring important information to the New Republic fleet. During the eventful escape, Clancy not only had to contend with Imperial checkpoints and a homing beacon planted in her cargo hold, but the surly personality of Bremen himself.
[edit] February 21, 2010 – Squib
Squibs were a sentient species from Skor II known for collecting, trading, and haggling. Adult Squibs had humanoid bodies averaging a meter in height. They were covered in colorful fur and had pointed snouts, tufted ears, and large eyes. Squibs tasted objects by rubbing them over their fur. They were gregarious, insatiably curious, and obsessed with haggling and deal-making. It was said that the easiest way to get information from a Squib was to propose a trade.
Skor II was rich in natural resources, but these were unevenly distributed. As the Squibs developed the compulsion to collect and stockpile baubles, some tribes settled down while others became nomadic traders. Over time, a complex system of trade and barter emerged. After their discovery by the galaxy at large, the Squibs established themselves as galactic scavengers and rivals to the Ugors. King Ebareebaveebeedee, who vocally supported the Galactic Republic during the Separatist Crisis, struck agreements with galactic interests to place Squibs aboard capital spacecraft as laborers. The Galactic Empire considered these Squibs slaves, but they provided salvage vessels with the locations of Imperial dumpsites. The species later signed a pact of mutual support with the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Squib salvagers reclaimed, refurbished, and resold rubbish both planetside and deep in space. Many worked directly for the Squib Merchandising Consortium, while others operated independently. Although most stayed within the law, some found work as forgers, thieves, and even crime lords. The Solo family had several encounters with the Squibs Emala, Grees, and Sligh, who operated as black market art dealers and information brokers.
[edit] February 22, 2010 – Oojoh
Oojoh was a male Ho'Din with green skin who lived in the period just after the Great Sith War of 4,000 BBY. As a Force-sensitive, he was selected by the Jedi Order for training. Initially, he received this at the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine, before transferring to Taris along with four other trainees. There, he was apprenticed under the Feeorin Jedi Master Feln. He progressed through his training, constructing a lightsaber and bringing down the Leverby smuggling ring. As Oojoh and his companions neared the end of their training, they underwent a final test on the Rogue moon—a rock in an inner asteroid belt of the Taris system. There, he successfully traversed the terrain with only the Force to guide him, avoiding a multitude of meteors raining down from above.
However, Oojoh's promotion to Jedi Knight was not to be. While he and the other trainees were crossing the Rogue moon, their masters received a vision of the Galactic Republic crumbling due to the rise of the Sith. Determined to prevent such an occurrence, and led by elements of their vision to believe one of their Padawans would be responsible, the Masters agreed to kill their own Padawans. Shortly after returning to Taris, at a special ceremony ostensibly to announce the graduands, four of the five Padawans, including Oojoh, were massacred. The final remaining Padawan, Zayne Carrick, escaped, and was framed by the Masters. Eventually, however, he cleared his name, and Oojoh's family finally learned the truth behind his death.
[edit] February 23, 2010 – Yo'gand's Core
Yo'gand's Core was a battle tactic employed by the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong species to destroy entire planets. A warlike race, the Yuuzhan Vong utilized biotechnology in all spheres of life; one of the many creatures they made use of was the dovin basal, an organism capable of manipulating gravitic fields. During a war to gain control of the Yuuzhan Vong galaxy, the warrior Yo'gand was confronted by the forces of a rival warrior, Steng, who was based on the heavily fortified world of Ygziir. Rather than fight Steng's forces directly, Yo'gand created an innovative tactic. He secretly installed a dovin basal on Ygziir and instructed the creature to harness Ygziir's moon through gravitic manipulation. The dovin basal then pulled the moon in closer to Ygziir until its orbit decayed and it crashed into the planet, wiping out the bulk of Yo'gand's enemies in a single strike. Use of the tactic proliferated and the Yuuzhan Vong species eventually left the ruins of their galaxy and headed into the Intergalactic Void in search of a new home.
Thousands of years passed before the tactic of Yo'gand's Core was employed again. When the Yuuzhan Vong finally reached another galaxy and selected it for invasion, an advance force was sent first to pave the way for the main Yuuzhan Vong fleet. To lessen the chances of detection, the leader of the advance force decided to wipe out the well-populated planet Sernpidal, utilizing Yo'gand's Core to convince the other inhabitants of the galaxy that a freak natural disaster had occurred. Sernpidal's moon Dobido was subsequently pulled out of orbit and impacted with the planet, destroying both spheres. Yo'gand's ancient tactic was again made use of in 26 ABY, when Hosk Station, an Esseles-class space station built into the surface of the moon of the planet Kalarba, was dragged down onto the world, destroying the planet and leaving the Kalarba system strewn with radioactive material. Although the principal purpose of Yo'gand's Core was that of a terror tactic, several variations existed and it was used for a number of reasons, such as cracking a planet open in order to harvest resources beneath its crust, pulling unwanted objects out of orbit, or reconstructing star systems.
[edit] February 24, 2010 – Form VII: Juyo / Vaapad
Form VII: Juyo / Vaapad, also known as The Way of the Vornskr, or The Ferocity Form, was the seventh of seven forms recognized as canon for lightsaber combat by the last Jedi Council of the Old Jedi Order. In use millennia prior to the Battle of Yavin, the Juyo incarnation of Form VII was described as the most vicious form of lightsaber combat and was said to involve significant internal focus on the part of the user. Juyo had many practitioners throughout the years, including Jedi Masters Kavar, Zez-Kai Ell, and Vrook Lamar. As time passed, knowledge of Form VII became restricted among the Jedi Order, who were worried that its precepts would lead practitioners toward the dark side. In contrast, members of the Sith, such as Darth Maul, employed Juyo without reservation, as did Dark Jedi such as Galen Marek.
In the latter days of the Old Republic, a new variation of Form VII, dubbed Vaapad after a creature native to the planet Sarapin, was created by Jedi Masters Mace Windu and Sora Bulq. Vaapad was explained as being a state of mind rather than just a fighting style, allowing the wielder to channel his own inner darkness into the duel, and accept the fury of the opponent. Windu, Bulq, and Windu's Padawan Depa Billaba were three notable practitioners of the Vaapad variant. Records of both Juyo and Vaapad survived the Great Jedi Purge and were recovered by the New Jedi Order, who preserved the records of Form VII into the Sith-Imperial War.
[edit] February 25, 2010 – Mission to Monastery
The Mission to Monastery was a mission carried out by Luke Skywalker in an effort to convince the isolationist Order of the Sacred Circle to join the Rebel Alliance. However, it was soon discovered that the mission was a trap set up by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader to test Skywalker's skills.
The mission began when the leader of the Order, Domina Tagge, tricked by Vader and acting on his orders, asked the Rebellion to send one of its heroes, Luke Skywalker, to Monastery as an envoy. General Jan Dodonna agreed and also sent Princess Leia Organa, who was later captured by Imperial forces but managed to escape. Meanwhile, Skywalker met Vader and was forced to accept a duel with him. However, before the duel began, Organa had unwittingly brought Domina's brother and former baron of the House of Tagge, Orman Tagge to Monastery. Vader used Tagge to test Luke's mastery of the Force by making him appear to Skywalker as the Dark Lord of the Sith himself. Skywalker killed Orman Tagge, and, realizing that he was not ready to fight the real Vader, escaped on the Millennium Falcon.
[edit] February 26, 2010 – Ru Murleen
Ru Murleen, a Human female, was a starfighter pilot in the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Murleen was the youngest pilot to reach the rank of commander and became a pilot instructor at the Rebel training facility on Kolaador, hoping to pass her skills on to others. Shortly after the Battle of Toprawa in 0 BBY, Murleen led a group of X-wing starfighters to Tatooine, where Anchorhead Base was under attack by Imperial forces, and later fought Imperial TIE fighters during the evacuation of Gamma Base on Hoth. She transferred to the Great Temple on Yavin 4 soon after and fought against the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin.
Murleen was later assigned to Imdaar Alpha to monitor Imperial activity on the planet. When the Alliance learned of an Imperial project to create cloaked starfighters, Murleen teamed up with her former student, Rookie One, on a mission to infiltrate the Super Star Destroyer Terror and steal one of the TIE Phantoms. The two Rebel agents not only acquired one of the new starfighters, but were able to use it to destroy the Terror, along with the TIE Phantom factory at Imdaar Alpha, effectively putting an end to the project.
[edit] February 27, 2010 – Darth Kruhl
Darth Kruhl was a male Sith Lord and assassin in the One Sith Order, being one of many to serve under Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt during his reign as Galactic Emperor. Kruhl was also the direct subordinate of Darth Maladi, acting as one of her operatives in the Sith Intelligence and Assassination department of Krayt's Empire. In 137 ABY, Darth Kruhl was sent to the world of Munto Codru, with instructions to capture the planet for Krayt's Sith Empire. He attempted to peacefully negotiate an agreement with the appointed spokesman of the planet's native Codru-Ji species, Rikkar-du. However, Rikkar-du was uninterested in Imperial domination, and attempted to unite the clans of Munto Codru in rebellion against Kruhl's plan to subjugate them. When Kruhl learned of Rikkar-du's plot, he returned to the planet and confronted the Codru-Ji spokesperson. The two engaged in combat, which resulted in Darth Kruhl slaying both Rikkar-du and his son, and then garnering the cooperation of another clan leader in Rikkar-du's place.
Kruhl was later dispatched by Darth Maladi to the stronghold of the deposed Emperor Roan Fel on the world of Bastion, where he was tasked with assassinating him, to rid Darth Krayt of any further opposition to his rule. Kruhl infiltrated Fel's sanctuary where he attempted to take the exiled Emperor by surprise; however, Fel had been expecting one of Krayt's assassins, and the two engaged in a lightsaber duel. Kruhl was killed when Fel withdrew his concealed blaster pistol and shot the Sith Lord in the stomach. After Kruhl's death, Fel returned his lightsaber to Coruscant, to show the usurper Krayt that his assassination attempt had failed.
[edit] February 28, 2010 – Quanto
Quanto was a male gangster living in the Stenness star system four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin. A space pirate, Quanto was in the employ of crime lord Bogga the Hutt as one of his enforcers. He often worked under the direction of Bogga's senior enforcer, Gudb, whom Quanto considered a friend. Quanto's feelings of camaraderie were not reciprocated by Gudb, however, and he was often treated as an underling by Gudb rather than an equal.
In 4,000 BBY, Quanto was on the Stenness Hyperspace Terminal when he and Gudb accosted Jedi Knight Andur Sunrider and his family in an attempt to steal the Adegan crystals in their possession. Quanto was sent to distract the family while his partner went to obtain Bogga's permission to proceed. The robbery was unsuccessful, and though the Jedi was killed, so too was Quanto—having been sliced from shoulder to hip by the deceased Jedi's wife, Nomi, using Andur's lightsaber.
[edit] March 1, 2010 – XoXaan
XoXaan was a humanoid female Dark Jedi who, along with others such as Karness Muur, was exiled from the Jedi Order following the Hundred Year Darkness. After a battle on the Outer Rim world of Corbos, XoXaan was among the Jedi who abandoned the Republic and traveled to Korriban, where they found the original Sith species. XoXaan and her fellow Dark Jedi enslaved the natives, christened themselves the first of the Sith Lords, and instituted a new order that centered around worship and practice of the dark side of the Force.
Though other Sith Lords possessed similar talents, XoXaan was noted amongst her peers for her skills in dark side healing. She recorded her knowledge in a holocron, which was entombed with her in Korriban's Valley of the Dark Lords. Her spirit waited millennia for someone to come along whom she felt was worthy of her Sith teachings. XoXaan's spirit found one such student in the ex-Jedi A'Sharad Hett. From her holocron, Hett learned the ways of the dark side, and eventually created a new Sith Order based on XoXaan's teachings. After Hett assumed the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith under the moniker Darth Krayt, he constructed a massive statue in reverence of XoXaan—who was considered his first and greatest Sith teacher—within the Temple of the Sith on the planet Coruscant. After his death during the battle of Had Abbadon, Darth Krayt's body was taken to XoXaan's temple on Korriban, where he first embraced the ways of the Sith. It would serve as the place of his final interment.
[edit] March 2, 2010 – Treis Sinde
Master Treis Sinde was a Human male Imperial Knight who served Emperor Roan Fel and his Empire-in-exile in 137 ABY. Partnered with Master Sigel Dare, he was assigned to sabotage the new Advanced Star Destroyer Imperious nearing completion in the shipyard over Dac in order to keep it out of the hands of Darth Krayt's Sith Empire. After successfully planting explosives on board, they discovered that the vessel had been stolen by Admiral Gar Stazi of the Galactic Alliance. Deciding to inform Stazi of the explosives, Sinde and Dare rescued Monia Gahan, a Mon Calamari pilot from Rogue Squadron. Together, they rescued other Alliance captives from the recent battle, and sought to steal a shuttle to escape the planet and join up with the Alliance fleet. As they prepared to depart, the Quarren Sith Lord Darth Azard tried to stop them. Sinde engaged the Sith Lord in combat, giving Dare, Gahan and the Alliance pilots time to escape. Using an explosion caused by Dare during the shuttle's escape, Sinde retreated from his fight with Azard, going underground and joining a Mon Calamari resistance group that had formed in the wake of Krayt's proclaimed genocide against them.
Allying with the Mon Calamari Rangers, Sinde assisted them by advising them on military tactics and strategies, and helping them defend the Mon Calamari refugees who had taken refuge on the planet's ocean floor. After several months, Sinde was able to contact Emperor Fel on Bastion, and was ordered to return as soon as possible to train new Imperial Knights. Despite feeling that his work on Dac was crucial, he was prepared to obey his Liege's orders. However, at the same time, the Sith scientist Vul Isen created a Sea Leviathan to hunt down the Mon Calamari refugees and suck them dry of their life-energies. When word of its existence reached Sinde, he initially counseled the Rangers to leave it alone and sacrifice the refugees to safeguard the few Ranger units operated on the planet. When Captain Tanquar, leader of the Rangers, made it clear that would not happen, Sinde devised a plan to destroy the Leviathan. While the Rangers attacked Isen's AT-AT Swimmer that was riding herd on the creature, Sinde took command of a number of Devilsquids, six tentacled creatures that hunted Mon Calamari. Sinde directed them to attack the Leviathan, and they dragged it into the depths of the Devil's Crevasse, where the Devilsquids made their home. Returning to Ranger Grotto, Sinde reported to Fel that obtaining transport off the planet was impossible. Fel told the Knight to return when the situation was merely difficult, not impossible.
[edit] March 3, 2010 – Toki Tollivar
Toki Tollivar was a male Bimm who worked in the Republic Ministry of Commerce during the Great Sith War and was often underestimated due to his small physical appearance. Thus, when his Force sensitivity brought him into consideration for training by the Sith Empire, he seized the opportunity to be trained in the ways of the dark side. By the war's end, Tollivar had only progressed in status to that of a Sith adept, at which time he began his own private campaign of murder across the galaxy.
Tollivar styled himself as a Force-strangling serial killer and capitalized on the diminutive stature he felt so often ridiculed for. The trail of throttled bodies caused Tollivar to eventually settle on Corellia under the alias Kelven Garnatrope, though his appetite for murder remained unquenched. Dubbed by the public as the Corellian Strangler, Tollivar fled the planet before authorities could connect him with the murders, purchasing a ride on board the Chancellor Fillorean luxury yacht into the Core Worlds.
Tollivar was discovered several weeks later on the Fillorean hiding amongst a shipful of corpses by Jedi Zayne Carrick and the crew of the Hot Prospect. After attempting to strangle several of the Prospect's crewmembers, Tollivar was found out by Carrick, with whom he engaged in a lightsaber duel. The Sith adept defeated his enemy but was restrained by his servant droid, K-OB7, and subsequently killed by Carrick's crewmate, Mandalorian Crusader Rohlan Dyre.
[edit] March 4, 2010 – Jaius Yorub
Jaius Yorub was a male Sullustan who served in the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. A naval officer, he was captain of the Scythe-class battle cruiser Indomitable during the Sith-Imperial War of 127–130 ABY. The Indomitable served as the flagship of the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet, under the command of Admiral Gar Stazi. During the final engagement of the Sith-Imperial War—the Battle of Caamas in 130 ABY—Stazi took elements of the Core Fleet and began a resistance against the combined forces of the Fel Empire and the One Sith rather than surrender. Yorub accompanied the admiral into self-imposed exile.
Over the course of the next seven years, Yorub served Stazi as an aide and confidante while the Core Fleet continued to embody the ideals of the Galactic Alliance. In 137 ABY, Yorub and Stazi planned the theft of the Imperious, the prototype vessel of the new Imperious-class Star Destroyer class, being constructed at the shipyards orbiting the planet Dac. During the subsequent engagement, the Indomitable suffered crippling damage and Yorub was injured. Although Stazi was prepared to sacrifice himself in a suicide attack—by crashing the Indomitable into the shipyards—Yorub knew that the Alliance could not survive without the Duros admiral. He ordered Lieutenant Jhoram Bey, commander of the elite Rogue Squadron, to evacuate the admiral from the Indomitable, which the Weequay achieved by striking Stazi and rendering him unconscious. With Stazi clear of the Indomitable, Yorub guided the vessel into the shipyards, sacrificing his own life by triggering an explosion that destroyed the ship and a third of the docks.
[edit] March 5, 2010 – Sun Guard
The Sun Guard was a Sith cult and mercenary group, centered on the planet Thyrsus in the Thyrsus system. Consolidated there by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, the fanatical Sun Guard developed a ferocious reputation, and they grew to be objects of fear. Sidious used the Sun Guard in his plans surrounding his ascension to the seat of the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, assassinating key Senators, guarding his Coruscant stronghold, and even abducting Queen Padmé Amidala after the invasion of Naboo. Sidious sent a Sun Guard to retrieve the holocron of the ancient Sith king Adas, bringing him into combat against the Jedi, but when the holocron fell into their hands Sidious executed the man for his failure. The 2nd Regiment of the Sun Guard fought in the Clone Wars, but were crushed by Republic general Solomahal. When Sidious needed the Sun Guard no longer, his apprentice Dooku ordered his own minion Asajj Ventress to eliminate them. Some of the few surviving Sun Guards went on to join Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's Red Guard.
Though not Force-sensitive, the Sun Guard were adept melee fighters, thought to have led to the creation of the echani style of combat. Sun Guard armor was black, and their helmets resembled—and likely inspired—those of the Republic's Senate Guard. Sun Guard armor proved to be an inspiration for many other armor designs in the Galactic Empire: the uniforms of the Imperial Royal Guard; the specialized stormtrooper armors designed by Doctor Nashiak Llalik; the outfit of Carnor Jax, son of a Sun Guard; and the Sun Guard replica armor of the bounty hunter Moxin Tark.
[edit] March 6, 2010 – Mist
Mist was a Human female bounty hunter operating during the early years of the New Republic. Born Shella Inion on the planet Kal'Shebbol, she was a minor actress who disappeared from public view after the death of her family and her own partial disfigurement following a suspected Rebel attack on her hometown. Moff Kentor Sarne, the Imperial warlord controlling Kal'Shebbol, had planned and staged the attack to further his own agenda, and to reduce popular support for the Rebel Alliance. Inion reinvented herself as the bounty hunter known only as Mist, utilizing a highly modified suit of Krail Armory's Model 1010 Photo-reactive Personal Armor to disguise both her appearance and gender.
Mist was regarded as a capable individual, and she allied herself with Moff Sarne, blaming the Rebellion for the death of her family. When the planet Kal'Shebbol was taken by the New Republic in 8 ABY, Mist was off-planet on an assignment, and was subsequently separated from Sarne. The Moff managed to escape his capital with the bulk of his fleet, and Mist spent several weeks trying to regroup with him and his forces, tracking his movements through the Kathol sector and the Kathol Outback. Eventually succeeding, she led several military missions that encountered the crew of the New Republic CR90 corvette FarStar, which was on a mission to locate Sarne.
Mist traveled with Sarne to the planet Kathol, and defended him throughout the Battle of DarkStryder's Fortress, escaping with him to the hyperspace launch gate in orbit around the planet. Sarne planned to activate the launch gate and destroy the New Republic forces battling his own ships in orbit of the planet as part of his plan to reconquer the Kathol sector. Wounded during the engagement, Mist was captured by members of the FarStar's crew. Jessa Dajus, a member of the FarStar crew and a former Intelligence officer in Sarne's Imperial regime, told her that the attack that had claimed the lives of her family had actually been planned and staged by the Moff to incriminate the Rebels. Enraged at having been lied to, Mist switched her allegiances and assisted the crew of the FarStar in defeating Sarne.
[edit] March 7, 2010 – X-83 TwinTail starfighter
The X-83 TwinTail starfighter was a model of X-wing-series starfighter used in the time of Darth Krayt's rise to power in 130 ABY. Manufactured by Incom Corporation, the X-83 was a cutting-edge vessel and the primary starfighter of the New Jedi Order until that organization's destruction following the Sith-Imperial War. Krayt's Empire banned the manufacture of the X-83, claiming it was too powerful for civilian use, but Incom continued producing the fighters in secret, selling them to opponents of the Empire.
Drawing from the strengths of its lineage, the X-83 was balanced in durability and firepower, with top of the line weapons systems and strong deflector shields and hull. It was a particularly maneuverable fighter as well, in atmosphere or vacuum. The X-83 incorporated its astromech droid, an Incom standard feature, into its frame, giving the ship its own "personality" if not given routine memory wipes. The fighter was primarily used in front-line combat, where it was a match for most fighters, including the Predator-class fighter, on a one-to-one basis.
[edit] March 8, 2010 – Heol Girdun
Heol Girdun was a male Human Galactic Alliance Guard officer at the time of the Second Galactic Civil War, a galactic conflict between the Galactic Alliance and a separatist force based on Corellia. Having served in New Republic Intelligence and later the Galactic Alliance Intelligence Service, Girdun was hand-picked to join the Guard by Galactic Alliance Colonel Jacen Solo. While in the Guard, he helped manage the Galactic Alliance intelligence division during the fight against Corellian terrorists on the Galactic Alliance capital of Coruscant. As such, he took part in interrogating prisoners, including bounty hunter Ailyn Habuur. After the death of Galactic Alliance Chief of State Cal Omas and the subsequent placing of Galactic Alliance Intelligence under control of the GAG, Girdun was put in command of the intelligence organization.
[edit] March 9, 2010 – G'vli G'Sil
G'vli G'Sil was a male Human politician during the Second Galactic Civil War. A senator in the Galactic Alliance Senate, G'Sil was appointed the head of the Galactic Alliance's Security Council. In 40 ABY, as tensions rose between the Alliance and the planet of Corellia, terrorist attacks struck G'Sil's homeworld, the Galactic Alliance capital of Coruscant. Following the attacks, G'Sil worked with Chief of State Cal Omas to formulate an idea for a branch of the Alliance military to focus on domestic security. The proposed military outfit would eventually become the Galactic Alliance Guard. Later in the year, Omas was removed from office by GAG leader Jacen Solo and Galactic Alliance Defense Force Admiral Cha Niathal. Despite Niathal's request for G'Sil to run for the office once elections resumed, G'Sil refused, due to fear that he would be overthrown as well. Shocked and surprised by the change of power, G'Sil returned to working in the Security Council, at one point getting involved in a dispute between the Alliance member world Murkhana and the Verpine species.
[edit] March 10, 2010 – Vul Isen
Vul Isen was a Force-sensitive Givin male who served the One Sith as a scientist. Born into the One Sith on Korriban, his talents did not lie in combat, but in science, so he was never given the coveted "Darth" title. Isen worked extensively with bioweapons, and was experienced in committing genocide and ruining planets with such toxins. He found no sorrow or regret in these actions, thinking of it as a sort of game.
In 137 ABY, after Darth Krayt ordered the genocide of the Mon Calamari species, Isen was posted to the planet Dac, to work alongside overseer Darth Azard in speeding up the extermination of the Mon Calamari. Tension ran high between Isen and Azard, who felt that the Givin was a lesser Sith for not having a Darth name and disliked his inquisitive nature. Because Krayt wanted only the Mon Calamari and not any of the world's other inhabitants targeted, Isen was unable to use his experimental viral organisms which would reduce the planet to a desolate swamp world. Instead, he turned to ancient Sith lore and alchemically engineered a Sea Leviathan, the first of its kind adapted for underwater use. Isen and Azard hoped the beast would help them eliminate the remaining pockets of Mon Calamari as quickly as possible. The Leviathan led Isen and Azard to the base of the Mon Calamari Rangers, but the Sith's Aquatic Terrain Armored Transport was rammed by one of the Mon Calamari, crippling the vessel. Isen survived uninjured, but Azard was trapped under shrapnel. Using Azard's lightsaber, the Givin scientist freed him, to Azard's surprise, and the two swam toward the surface. The Leviathan was meanwhile defeated by Imperial Knight Treis Sinde and hordes of devilsquid.
[edit] March 11, 2010 – Chameleon droid
The Arakyd Industries chameleon droid was a mine-laying sabotage probe droid used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Originally mining exploration droids known as Spelunker probe droids, they were outfitted with laser cannons, a mine releaser, and a holographic array for military service. The array worked by scanning the background and the angle of the viewer's sight, then projecting a hologram of the background behind the droid, camouflaging it.
Chameleon droids were used throughout the Clone Wars. First deployed at the Battle of Ilum, the droids mined and heavily damaged the Crystal Caves, albeit taking many casualties. The droids also saw use during the Confederacy's subjugation of Ryloth, as well as in the Battle of Felucia during the Outer Rim Sieges. Eventually, all chameleon droids were deactivated after the execution of the Separatist Council at the close of the Clone Wars.
[edit] March 12, 2010 – Denal
"Denal" was the nickname of a clone trooper in the elite 501st Legion. Considered one of the most experienced members of that unit, he survived many Clone Wars campaigns alongside Captain CC-7567—nicknamed "Rex"—and Jedi General Anakin Skywalker. At the start of the war, Denal accompanied Rex, Skywalker, and Skywalker's Padawan Ahsoka Tano, on a mission to destroy Skytop Station, a Separatist listening post located on one of the three moons of the planet Ruusan. The group successfully completed their mission, blowing up the station with several explosive charges. Of the five-man squad of clones that was sent there along with the Jedi, only Denal and Rex survived the mission. Denal also saw action on Rodia, Tatooine and Orto Plutonia, conducting many missions on those planets. He rescued a battalion of clone troopers from a Separatist ambush, recovered a lost Republic cargo, and helped a Jedi in distress defeat a force of battle droids. On one occasion, he even saved Tano from a Separatist prison on Tatooine.
Denal was also involved in the discovery and destruction of a new Confederate superweapon—one that could prevent Republic radar from detecting enemy armies. Under the command of Skywalker, Denal participated in a Republic attack on the forces of the bounty hunter Cad Bane above the planet Devaron. The Republic hoped to rescue the Jedi Master Bolla Ropal from Bane and retrieve two valuable items stolen by the bounty hunter—a Jedi holocron and the Kyber crystal, which contained information on every Force-sensitive child in the galaxy. Denal was one of the clones who infiltrated Bane's Munificent-class star frigate, which slowly began to tear itself apart, having been set on the self-destruct mode by Bane. The Republic did not manage to rescue Master Ropal, whom Cad Bane had tortured to death. Aboard the frigate, Denal confronted the bounty hunter himself, but was killed by him. Bane donned Denal's armor in order to disguise himself as the clone trooper. Still in posession of the holocron and the Kyber crystal, the bounty hunter escaped from the crumbling starship with the Republic troops.
[edit] March 13, 2010 – Dominic Raynor
Dominic Raynor was the Human Baron Administrator of Cloud City until 1 ABY. Though adept at corporate matters, Raynor was a corrupt and despotic leader who ruled his city ineptly, bringing its status down in the eyes of many, and turning the Bespin Wing Guard into a breeding ground of corruption. Raynor enjoyed a number of pastimes, chief amongst them gambling, and also his lover Ymile. In 1 ABY, a gambler named Lando Calrissian attracted Raynor's eye as an opponent in sabacc, and the Baron Administrator challenged him to a game. Their first match cost Calrissian his money and ship. Even the revelation that Calrissian's nemesis Barpotomous Drebble had cheated on Raynor's behalf, though angering the Baron Administrator, did not get Calrissian his money back.
Calrissian soon got an anonymous donation by way of Raynor's aide Lobot, secretly from a group of fifty thousand workers who wanted Raynor gone. The second match went into high stakes again, and Calrissian laid out his starship lot against Raynor's position as Baron Administrator. Raynor accepted, and Calrissian won the match and city. Raynor left with Ymile, but he was not through with Calrissian. The former administrator attempted to get revenge on the man who had taken his job multiple times, sending a number of bounty hunters and assassins after Calrissian with no success.
[edit] March 14, 2010 – Duqua Dar
Duqua Dar was a Zabrak male Jedi Knight in the time of the Galactic Republic's war against the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders, which began in 3,976 BBY. During the war, he served alongside fellow Zabrak Acaadi, allying himself with the Revanchists—a group of Jedi led by then-Jedi Knight Revan—who went against the orders of the Jedi Council and took an active role in the war. Revan led the Republic forces during the war but came to accept Sith teachings in the process.
At the start of the Jedi Civil War, which began when Darth Revan, by then a Dark Lord of the Sith, and his apprentice Darth Malak led an invasion of the Republic in 3,959 BBY, Dar was fighting the remaining Mandalorians on his homeworld Iridonia. When Dar intercepted a group of Mandalorian mercenaries who had attacked a Republic communications center on the planet, he was aided by Acaadi, now a Sith agent, who used the encounter to persuade Dar to join him and the Sith. Dar and Acaadi traveled to the nearby town of Wortan, pursued by a group of Jedi and spacers working as agents for the Republic, who attempted to thwart Acaadi's plans. Tracking them back to Acaadi's personal hangar, the Republic agents attempted to convince Dar to reject the dark side, before being attacked by a number of Sith commandos under Acaadi's command.
[edit] March 15, 2010 – Gudb
Gudb was a male gangster of an unidentified species and scourge of the Stenness star system in the name of Great Bogga the Hutt. He was the primary henchman in Bogga's enforcer gang, a group of beings that exercised Bogga's will throughout Stenness. Gudb had a pet gorm worm named Skritch, with whom he had faced many an opponent, including Jedi on occasion.
In 4,000 BBY, Gudb and his gang encountered the Human Jedi Andur Sunrider and his family on the Stenness Hyperspace Terminal. Gudb was ordered to steal the Adegan lightsaber crystals in the Jedi's possession and managed to kill Sunrider, but was driven off without the crystals by the deceased's widow, Nomi, who took up his lightsaber and slew two of Gudb's companions. He returned to Bogga's stronghold defeated, and the Hutt accompanied Gudb on his next mission—to the planet Ambria, where the woman had fled to the safety of the resident Jedi. He and his thugs were challenged by the Vultan Jedi Oss Wilum upon their arrival, whom they overcame and prepared to kill. Gudb and his team were defeated again when Wilum's Master Thon attacked, causing them to retreat before the Jedi's strength in the Force.
Bogga later sent Gudb and his gang back to Ambria, to once again attack the Jedi and retrieve the crystals. Gudb's forces nearly succeeded, when the same timid woman from the hyperspace terminal attacked, confusing Gudb's men with Jedi battle meditation and cutting them down with her lightsaber. Rather than stay and face Nomi Sunrider again, Gudb fled Ambria in defeat to instead face the wrath of Bogga the Hutt.
[edit] March 16, 2010 – Missile Boat
The Missile Boat was an advanced Imperial starfighter designed by Admiral Thrawn and built by Cygnus Spaceworks. Designed as a countermeasure against the rogue Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin and his supply of TIE Defenders, the Missile Boat was a descendant of the Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing, also manufactured by Cygnus Spaceworks. The Missile Boat relied primarily on warheads for dogfighting and assaults, a notable difference from other Imperial starfighters, which relied more heavily on laser cannons. The Missile Boat also included an innovative propulsion feature known as the SubLight Acceleration Motor (SLAM).
Though they proved instrumental in the defeat of Zaarin's rogue faction and in executing Emperor Palpatine's plan to lead the Rebel Alliance to Endor, they were removed from Imperial Navy operations by the Emperor's own orders and were not seen in use after 4 ABY.
[edit] March 17, 2010 – Nym
Nym was a Feeorin pirate who led the Lok Revenants. Known for his theft and subsequent use of a prototype Scurrg H-6 bomber, the Havoc, Nym's depredations eventually earned him the ire of the Trade Federation, who hired mercenary Vana Sage to capture and imprison him. However, Nym escaped from her imprisonment, only to find that Sage, who had been double-crossed by the Trade Federation herself, wished to ally with him to inflict further damage on the Trade Federation. Furthermore, the starfighter pilot Rhys Dallows, whose homeworld had been invaded by the Trade Federation, and the Toydarian smuggler Reti joined with them as well. Together, the four launched a number of raids on Trade Federation property, culminating on attacks on the Trade Federation blockade of Naboo and the destruction of a Trade Federation droid production facility on Eos. Those actions earned Nym a pardon from the Republic, though he continued his life of piracy.
Shortly before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Nym's forces came under attack by the Trade Federation once again, this time in the Karthakk system. With the aid of Reti, his wingman Jinkins, and Jedi Master Adi Gallia, Nym was able to destroy several illegal Trade Federation facilities, including a weapons plant producing a biological weapon known as trihexalon. During this time, he ran afoul of a Separatist-aligned mercenary named Cavik Toth, who was behind the trihexalon production. Undaunted, Nym continued to battle Toth's Sabaoth Squadron as well as the Trade Federation, to the point where he was able to seize back his base on Lok, which had been overrun by the Trade Federation years before. Once he did so, the Feeorin ran his operation from there, into the Galactic Civil War, in which he was seen as a Rebel sympathizer.
[edit] March 18, 2010 – Sneevel
Sneevels were a furry, humanoid species from the Mid Rim planet Sneeve. They were characterized by their oversized, portly heads, monochromatic eyes, and distinctive smell, which they used for communication. Most Sneevels were extraordinary nimble.
The Sneevels were famed for their daredevil tendencies, which led them into thrill-seeking occupations. When the species was discovered by Duros spacers, they were scouting their planet and system using dangerous native technology. With the hyperspace technology offered by the Duros, the Sneevels joined the Old Republic. They took advantage of their new opportunities to pursue their interests on other planets — although they showed little interest in galactic politics, they gravitated toward new chances to take new risks in activities such as podracing.
Sneevels actively took part in galactic politics during the Separatist Crisis that preceded the Clone Wars. During this time, the planet supported the Galactic Republic, the Military Creation Act and the Refugee Relief Movement. The Galactic Empire later tried to confine the Sneevels to their homeworld. The restrictions, however, merely served to drive several members of the species to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
The Sneevel Boles Roor found fame as a glimmik singer and podracer in the latter days of the Old Republic. Another Sneevel of note during this time was Jollin Resbin, who served as senator for the Kastolar sector during the Separatist Crisis. Later, Sneevels were seen in Mygeeto during the Galactic Civil War.
[edit] March 19, 2010 – Bek-Vulkar gang war
This gang war was a swoop gang conflict waged throughout the Lower City of the Outer Rim world of Taris, between the Hidden Beks, led by Gadon Thek, and the Black Vulkars, led by former Bek Brejik. When Thek lost his sight in a swoop bike accident, many gang members assumed that the elder leader would step aside and appoint Brejik in his place. The war was sparked when Thek refused to do so; incensed, Brejik left the gang and took over the rival Vulkars. He began a protracted campaign of street fighting designed to whittle away at the Bek ranks, and initiated several attempts to kill Thek himself.
During the Jedi Civil War, the amnesiac former Dark Lord of the Sith, Revan, along with Republic officer and pilot Carth Onasi, became trapped on Taris after their ship, the Hammerhead-class cruiser Endar Spire, was destroyed in the space above Taris. While searching for the missing Jedi Knight Bastila Shan, who had also been aboard the vessel and whose battle meditation was considered vital to the Republic war effort, they became caught up in the conflict. After learning that Shan—who had been captured from her escape pod by the Vulkars—was being offered up as the prize to the winner of the Tarisian Season Opener, Revan and Onasi sided with the Hidden Beks, and infiltrated the Black Vulkar Base in order to reacquire a swoop bike prototype accelerator that the Vulkars had earlier stolen from the Beks; the accelerator was considered crucial by both gangs for whoever made use of it would gain an advantage in the competition. Revan himself volunteered to race on behalf of the Beks. After winning the race, Revan and Shan, who had freed herself from captivity through use of the Force, squared off against Brejik and the Black Vulkars at the track. This scuffle resulted in the death of Brejik.
[edit] March 20, 2010 – Imperial Sentinel
Imperial Sentinels were armored-and-cloaked warriors assigned to serve Emperor Palpatine's Dark Side Adepts. Cloned in hidden facilities on the secret Imperial throne world of Byss, these mute giants were mutated by Dark Side Adepts and injected with chemicals that suppressed their higher brain functions, causing them to become completely subservient. For the duration of their natural existence, Sentinels were slaves to their assigned Adept and carried out their master's bidding without question. They accompanied the Adepts on missions off-world, typically acting as bodyguards.
Mainly remaining on Byss to guard the the Emperor's Citadel, Sentinels had only been seen a handful of times in the short history of the Empire. This led to a great deal of speculation among the upper echelons of the Empire as to what exactly these armored behemoths were. In 10 ABY Luke Skywalker, after defecting to the Empire, was known to have bred at least two of his own Sentinels. After a bold attempt to rescue Skywalker from Byss, Princess Leia Organa Solo—Skywalker's sister and prominent New Republic Council member—and Han Solo—Leia's husband and pilot of the Millennium Falcon—were escorted by Skywalker's Sentinels to Palpatine's clone laboratories on Byss. There they confronted both Skywalker and Palpatine himself. One year later, most of the Sentinels and their cloning facilities were obliterated with the destruction of Byss and the final death of Palpatine.
[edit] March 21, 2010 – Tiaan Jerjerrod
Tiaan Jerjerrod (pronounced /dʒærˈdʒærrʌd/) was a Human male Imperial officer who worked as a desk general in Logistics and Supply before becoming Moff of the Quanta sector by 1 ABY. His sector operations were based in a family estate in Val Denn, the capital city of Tinnel IV. In 3 ABY, he was present aboard the Star Dreadnought Executor during the occupation of Bespin and greeted Darth Vader when he returned to the warship. A year later, Jerjerrod had been assigned to oversee the construction of the second Death Star above the forest moon of Endor, appointed to that position by Emperor Palpatine himself. To hide the existence of the new Death Star, records claimed Jerjerrod had been made Director of Imperial Energy Systems and assigned to oversee the construction of large-scale power generators.
Whereas the first Death Star had taken around nineteen years to complete, the construction of the much-larger second Death Star had moved into its final stage of assembly after approximately two to four years. However, the construction crews had fallen behind schedule; Vader ventured to the battlestation to inform Jerjerrod that the issue needed to be rectified. Vader announced that the Emperor would be arriving to personally oversee the last stage of the Death Star's construction. Jerjerrod informed Vader that his men would double their efforts, as he was afraid of reporting his failure directly to the Emperor. Jerjerrod was among those assembled to greet Palpatine when he arrived.
The Rebel Alliance had learned of the second Death Star's construction and the Emperor's presence aboard it via the Bothan Spynet, and they launched an attack based on false information released by the Emperor himself. When the Alliance Fleet arrived, they discovered that the planetary shield protecting the Death Star was still activated and that the Imperial Navy was situated to prevent the Rebels from escaping. Palpatine had ordered Admiral Firmus Piett not to directly engage the Rebel capital ships, a move that confused personnel on both sides. The reason behind this became clear when the Emperor ordered Jerjerrod to fire the Death Star's operational superlaser at the Alliance Fleet; many Rebel capital ships were obliterated. When the Alliance gained the upper hand in the conflict, Palpatine commanded the Moff to fire on the forest moon. Before he could complete his final order, Jerjerrod perished when the Death Star was destroyed.
[edit] March 22, 2010 – Emperor's Retreat
The Emperor's Retreat was Emperor Palpatine's private sanctuary on his homeworld Naboo. West of the city of Moenia, the retreat was a luxurious marble edifice nestled in the Naboo hills, overlooking a lake. Palpatine attended his retreat with much of his court, including his Sith apprentice Darth Vader, Head Chamberlain Kaja Or'Zee, Grand Inquisitor Ja'ce Yiaso, Chief Inquisitor and head of security Loam Redge, Procurator of Justice Hethrir, and many others among the Empire's Dark Side Adepts and military. Under Redge's watch, the facility's security included a perimeter of guard towers, several All Terrain Scout Transports and All Terrain Armored Transports, and many stormtroopers and other soldiers, including storm commandos and dark troopers.
Loam Redge oversaw construction of the site; upon the retreat's establishment, the Rebel Alliance practically disappeared from Naboo and Palpatine had little trouble with them. However, this changed by 1 ABY, when a number of incidents occurred near the retreat, including an assassination attempt on Moff Grayeg Wintozzen, a counterfeit operation, and an Imperial captain being shot down in his shuttle. Palpatine reacted by creating a demonstration of the Empire's force, but problems still continued, when a traitor to the Empire started a campaign of sabotage that was only ended with his death.
[edit] March 23, 2010 – CC-1004
CC-1004 was a senior clone commander in the Grand Army of the Republic. Possessed of a keen interest in alien species and cultures, 1004 was singled out to participate in a special training program by ARC trooper Alpha-17 that encouraged individuality. As a token of his independence, 1004 was rewarded with a name and chose to be known as Gree, a reference to an obscure alien species.
During the Clone Wars, Gree led the 41st Elite, a legion out of the 9th Assault Corps, along with Jedi General Luminara Unduli. He became an expert on alien cultures, giving his unit a specialization in hostile conditions, counterinsurgency, and long-term deployment on alien worlds in "hearts and minds" operations. He saw action on Uba IV, Dinlo, and Rodia, amongst other worlds. In the first year of the war, Gree was assigned to escort the captured Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray to trial on Coruscant, but they were waylaid by Separatist saboteurs and a defector from the Republic, and Gunray escaped.
In the last days of the war, Gree accompanied Jedi Grand Master Yoda to Kashyyyk in response to a Separatist attack. After breaking through the enemy lines surrounding the planet, he helped fight back against the droid forces of the Separatists. In the middle of the battle, Gree received a message from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine declaring the execution of Order 66, the extermination of the Jedi. Gree was killed by Yoda while attempting to fulfill the order.
[edit] March 24, 2010 – Ackmena
Ackmena was the nightshift bartender in Chalmun's Cantina in Mos Eisley on Tatooine. She was a favorite amongst the patrons there, as she was more approachable than the daytime bartender, Wuher. Ackmena, realizing this, requested better hours from her employer, Chalmun, but the Wookiee initially refused, sparking a confrontation between the two that lasted for months. Even though Ackmena was better liked than Wuher, during her shifts she was aided by Tork, a bouncer. As entertainment, she would occasionally sing to her patrons.
One night, after the Battle of Yavin, Ackmena had to fend off the advances of the amorous Krelman. Later that night, the Galactic Empire imposed a curfew on all residents of the Tatooine system. Ackmena tried to get her patrons to leave, but was initially unsuccessful, until she broke into song. She later turned her amateur singing into profit, teaming up with fellow entertainer Cebann Veekan. Together, the two of them formed an acting troupe, and enjoyed success with a production based on the life of Alliance to Restore the Republic war hero, Luke Skywalker.
[edit] March 25, 2010 – Yeeru Chivkyrie
Yeeru Chivkyrie was a male Adarian from the planet Shelkonwa in the Shelsha sector. During the early years of the Galactic Civil War, he was the head of a Rebel Alliance organization named Republic Redux. In 0 ABY, the Shelsha sector's Chief Administrator, Vilim Disra, told him that Governor Barshnis Choard planned to make the sector independent, and eventually ally with the Rebel Alliance. Chivkyrie's colleagues, the Shining Hope director of planning Thillis Slanni and the Freedonna Kaisu leader Ydor Vokkoli, distrusted Disra and a conflict resulted, which Leia Organa—as a representative of the Rebel Alliance—tried to resolve. Due to missing information, they visited Disra, who left the meeting shortly after the beginning of the conversation. At that point, Chivkyrie realized that Disra had betrayed them and as a consequence, he hid himself and Organa from the local Imperial patrols. When Chivkyrie heard rumors that Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, had come to Shelkonwa in order to capture Organa, Chivkyrie took refuge in Shelkonwa's catacombs per Organa's recommendation.
[edit] March 26, 2010 – Breth Gart
Breth Gart was a male Agamarian starfighter pilot in the Alliance Starfighter Corps during the Galactic Civil War. Gart joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic at the age of sixteen after attending a recruitment speech by Chief of State Mon Mothma on Agamar. While undergoing training aboard the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Independence, Gart performed well in simulators but experienced disorientation problems during space flights, as the result of a disease he had contracted as a child. Although Alliance medics advised him that his condition would never allow him to become a pilot, Gart persevered and learned to cope with the pain he experienced through sheer willpower, finally passing pilot training on his third attempt.
Joining Red Squadron aboard the Independence, Gart was assigned fellow Agamarian Keyan Farlander as a liaison officer. The young pilot accompanied Farlander on a temporary assignment to the Star Cruiser Defiance and experienced his first combat when he helped to defend the capital ship from an attack by the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Immortal. Gart was killed in a freak accident during his second mission, an attack on an Imperial base at Kalla VII, when the Imperial EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Priam collided with his T-65 X-wing starfighter as it dropped out of hyperspace.
[edit] March 27, 2010 – Redemption
The Redemption was an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate in service to the Rebel Alliance Fleet. Originally a standard Nebulon-B frigate, it was heavily modified to serve as the fleet's primary medical frigate during the Galactic Civil War. The ship was fitted with the most advanced medical equipment available, including bacta tanks, operating theaters capable of treating multiple species, and a full complement of medical droids. The Redemption could treat up to 745 patients simultaneously and 98% made a full recovery, with most returning to duty within days. These changes came at the expense of its defensive capabilities, with several of the vessel's weapons removed, along with its starfighter complement.
The ship traveled with the Alliance Fleet, often into combat situations, and saw action several times, including the Battle of the Ison Corridor, the Battle of Eidoloni, and the Battle of Kothlis. Following his duel with Darth Vader in Cloud City, Luke Skywalker received treatment aboard the Redemption at the Rebel rendezvous point. It later joined the Alliance Fleet gathering near Sullust in preparation to assault the second Death Star in the Endor system. However, the Redemption was destroyed during the Battle of Endor when the rogue assassin droid IG-88A, secretly in control of the Death Star, used the battlestation's superlaser against it.
[edit] March 28, 2010 – Guardian (Executor-class)
The Guardian was an Executor-class Star Dreadnought. Originally under the command of Admiral Gaen Drommel of the Galactic Empire, it was stationed near Coruscant when news of the Battle of Endor arrived. Drommel took the Guardian to the region of space surrounding his homeworld of Oplovis, where he became a warlord. After a series of attacks on New Republic worlds and bases, the tide turned for Drommel, and the Guardian was badly damaged at the Battle of Tantive V in 5 ABY. Drommel fled into hyperspace, but due to the damage sustained on the vessel's hyperdrive, the Guardian emerged in the Fardon system rather than its intended destination. Its hyperdrive inoperable, it went into orbit around the planet Soullex, where it would stay for over a decade as Drommel conducted repairs.
Around 16 ABY, the New Republic learned that the Guardian was receiving parts through its Lambda-class shuttles. Two ship thieves, Cryle Cavv and Sienn Sconn, were sent to track the shuttles back to their origin and capture the Guardian. After freeing a number of New Republic prisoners, Cavv and Sconn were able to reprogram the vessel's nearly-repaired hyperdrive to leap into the middle of a New Republic fleet when Drommel tested it. Drommel refused to surrender, but his officer Colonel Niovi shot him and took command of the vessel, surrendering it to the New Republic.
The New Republic assigned the Guardian to the Third Fleet, under the command of Admiral Ackbar. From the Guardian, Ackbar led the New Republic's fleets in a series of skirmishes against the Empire, including the Battles of Champala and Anx Minor, which drove the Empire under Gilad Pellaeon back to a scant few sectors. In the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Guardian served as protection for Chief of State Cal Omas, before being deployed to Traest Kre'fey's Fleet Group One at Kashyyyk. After the formation of a new government, the Galactic Alliance, the Guardian was redeployed to Mon Calamari to protect the Alliance headquarters. It later fought against the Yuuzhan Vong in the Battle of Mon Calamari.
[edit] March 29, 2010 – Battle of Ryloth (Clone Wars)
The Battle of Ryloth took place around 22 BBY on the Twi'lek homeworld of Ryloth during the Clone Wars. Seeking to steal the treasures of fellow Separatist Council member Passel Argente while scoring another victory for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Techno Union Foreman Wat Tambor commanded the invasion of the planet and the subjugation the Twi'lek people. Emir Tambor placed Captain Mar Tuuk in charge of the Confederate fleet blockadeing the planet and tactical droid TX-20 in charge of the proton cannons in the city of Nabat, while he made headquarters for himself in the conquered capital of Lessu. After receiving pleas for assistance from Ryloth's senator, Orn Free Taa, the Jedi High Council dispatched Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano, to eliminate the Separatist blockade and make way for Galactic Republic forces to land on and liberate Ryloth.
The two Jedi took a fleet of three Star Destroyers to Ryloth and engaged Captain Tuuk's blockade. Though they initially suffered heavy losses and were forced to retreat, Skywalker and Tano regrouped and formed a new plan of attack, returning to the Ryloth system and defeating Tuuk's fleet. Republic troop transports—under the command of High Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu—were then able to move in; however, they were unable to land in Nabat because of fire from the Confederate proton cannons stationed there. General Kenobi, Clone Commander CC-2224, and the GAR unit Ghost Company landed in the city and destroyed the cannons, allowing Windu's transports to land.
En route to retake the capital of Lessu aboard AT-TE walkers, Windu, Clone Commander CC-6454 and Lightning Squadron were attacked by Separatist tanks. The Republic forces defeated the detachment but suffered losses, leading Windu to enlist the help of Twi'lek General Cham Syndulla of the freedom fighters. After Emir Tambor began a firebombing campaign of several villages in the area, Syndulla finally set aside his differences with Senator Taa and joined Windu and his forces. The Jedi and ARF troopers Razor and Stak were able to activate Lessu's plasma bridge, the only access to the city. In what became known as the Battle of Lessu, the combined forces of Lightning Squadron and freedom fighters entered the city and routed the Confederacy. Tambor's own tactical droid escaped with the Emir's shuttle and left him stranded, and Windu was able to capture the Techno Union foreman.
Following the liberation of Lessu, Skywalker and Tano were left in command of the operations against the remaining Confederate holdouts on the planet. The two Jedi led their 501st Legion clone troopers through the ruined city of Resdin, gradually clearing out the droid forces that were encamped there. During the conflict, Clone Captain CC-7567 and Clone Sergeant CS-2207 were captured by bounty hunter Cad Bane, who was on the run after stealing the Gravitic Core, a part of Separatist scientist Kul Teska's newly developed superweapon. The clones were eventually rescued by Skywalker and Tano, but while trying to escape from Resdin, the Jedi, clones, and bounty hunter were attacked by Teska. The Separatist agent retrieved the Gravitic Core, and Bane made his own escape off-planet.
[edit] March 30, 2010 – Nuvo Vindi
Nuvo Vindi was a male scientist employed as a medic by the Perma families until he went missing in 32 BBY. Reappearing on Naboo as a Confederacy of Independent Systems scientist during the Clone Wars, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy, he became obsessed with recreating the eradicated Blue Shadow Virus, a deadly water-borne plague which resulted in instantaneous death and had no known cure.
In 22 BBY, Vindi was not only able to re-engineer the virus, but also create an airborne strain he planned to release in key Republic star systems. His plot was discovered by Naboo politicians Senator Padmé Amidala and Representative Jar Jar Binks, who then contacted the Jedi Order for assistance. Vindi's laboratory was attacked shortly thereafter by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Knight Anakin Skywalker, Padawan Ahsoka Tano, and the clone troopers of the 501st Legion. The virus was released during the resulting battle, but a cure was quickly found by Kenobi and Skywalker on the planet Iego, negating the threat. Vindi was then taken to the galactic capital Coruscant for trial.
[edit] March 31, 2010 – Banjeer
Banjeer was a Human male and Imperial admiral in command of one of the Empire's largest fleets by 11 ABY. He was also one of the backers of former Royal Guard and aspiring Sith Lord Carnor Jax's plan to sabotage Emperor Palpatine's clones. Banjeer, as a representative of the Imperial Navy, served as a member of the Imperial Interim Ruling Council under both Jax and the wealthy but arrogant Burr Nolyds. The admiral used his power to establish his nephew as leader of Baramorra and all of the sector's bounty hunters. A Humanocentrist and Imperial traditionalist, Admiral Banjeer disliked serving alongside the various non-Humans present on the Council.
Following the assassination of Nolyds by Yuuzhan Vong agent Nom Anor, Banjeer was the first to suggest that the culprit was Royal Guard Kir Kanos. He also suggested that the head of the Council would always be a target, and it was for that reason that the Council elected the wealthy bureaucrat Xandel Carivus to succeed Nolyds, hoping that the assassin would strike again and kill the least-liked member of the ruling council. Banjeer supported Carivus's nomination, commenting that at least the nominee was Human. The admiral would ultimately become Nom Anor's second victim, though as with Nolyds's murder, the assassination was made to look like the handiwork of Kir Kanos.
[edit] April 1, 2010 – Something
Something funny.
[edit] April 2, 2010 – Empirical
The ISS Empirical was a mobile research laboratory, a modified cruiser that belonged to Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader. Rumored to be one of many such vessels in Vader's fleet, the Empirical housed the Dark Lord's experiments on prisoners and studies conducted on unique alien species. Top-secret, moving only between lifeless star systems in the Outer Rim Territories and escaping even the eyes of Emperor Palpatine's spy network, the vessel was crewed by a platoon of Imperial soldiers personally selected by Vader, who monitored the test subjects and eliminated those that escaped confinement before they could get off the ship. One of the many such experiments was Lieutenant Rom Mohc's Dark Trooper Phase Zero project, which operated out of the Empirical until it was shut down for practical reasons.
When Vader's apprentice Galen Marek was injured close to death on the orders of Palpatine, Vader brought him to the Empirical to be rehabilitated, bringing along Marek's ship, the Rogue Shadow, and his droid, PROXY. Vader later sent Marek's pilot, Juno Eclipse, to the vessel after she was arrested for treason. When Marek awoke after six months, PROXY helped him escape the vessel, kill many of the crew—who thought he was one of Vader's experiments and had orders to terminate him—and free Eclipse. Under orders from Vader to remove all evidence that Marek had been there, including the crew, PROXY disabled the ship's navigational systems and set it on a course into the Dominus system's primary star. Marek, Eclipse, and PROXY escaped on the Rogue Shadow as the Empirical plunged into the star and exploded.
[edit] April 3, 2010 – Raid on the Armand Isard Correctional Facility
The raid on the Armand Isard Correctional Facility was a rescue mission attempted in 43.5 ABY by rogue Jedi Seff Hellin to free Jedi Knight Valin Horn from the Armand Isard Correctional Facility, a Galactic Alliance prison. The two Jedi were affected by the same psychosis—an illness which caused the affected being to believe that everyone they knew had been replaced by impostors except for other beings that suffered from the disease. Hellin hoped to free Horn, who had been encased in carbonite and placed in the prison. The Galactic Alliance hoped to capture Hellin, while Darkmeld—a covert organization formed by Knight Jaina Solo to counter Chief of State Natasi Daala's efforts to weaken the Jedi Order—hoped to capture the Jedi as well, in order to study the disease.
As his raid began, Hellin was attacked by two Darkmeld members—Imperial Remnant Head of State Jagged Fel and bounty hunter Tahiri Veila. He managed to defeat them, but the two attacked again, and Hellin was forced to abandon his goal. As he left the prison, Hellin was caught by Galactic Alliance bounty hunters Dhidal Nyz and Zilaash Kuh. Solo, however, seized him from the bounty hunters, and loaded him into a speeder piloted by Darkmeld affiliate Mirax Terrik Horn, Valin's mother. A speeder chase ensued, and the bounty hunters and several security speeders pursued them, but Darkmeld managed to shake off all of their pursuers. Hellin was taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where he was to be studied in secret by Mon Calamari Jedi healer Cilghal.
[edit] April 4, 2010 – Lok Durd
General Lok Durd was a male Neimoidian weapons developer in the Separatist Droid Army who served in the Clone Wars. During the war, he created an experimental defoliator, an artillery radiation weapon that could theoretically completely wipe out any organic matter while leaving machinery unharmed. Durd planned to do an experiment of the weapon on the planet of Maridun upon his discovery of a small Lurmen colony there. After landing on the planet and setting up a base camp, Durd tested the defoliator on a pair of battle droids successfully. He then tried to use the weapon on the colony to impress Count Dooku, the leader of the Separatist movement. However, he was interrupted by Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, his Togruta apprentice Ahsoka Tano, and Twi'lek Jedi Knight Aayla Secura, who had crash landed on the planet prior to Durd's arrival. Using shield generators they had captured from the Separatist base camp, the Jedi were able to block Durd's defoliator by surrounding the Lurmen village with a deflector shield, and Durd was captured by the Jedi following a brief battle.
[edit] April 5, 2010 – Relentless (Pellaeon-class)
The Relentless was a Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer which served as the flagship of Darth Krayt's Outer Rim Third Fleet seven years after the Dark Lord of the Sith deposed Galactic Emperor Roan Fel at the end of the Empire's war with the Galactic Alliance. Under the command of Kel Dor Admiral Sha Dun, the fleet had been tasked with capturing Admiral Gar Stazi—the commander of the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet—as well as destroying the unified fragments of the Alliance military.
Despite many minor victories, Dun failed to stop Stazi's attacks, and was executed for his failure on the command deck of the Relentless by Darth Azard, the Sith Lord who oversaw the Third Fleet. Dun was replaced with the Humanocentric Admiral Dru Valan, and under his command, the Relentless saw further action against the Alliance forces above the planet Dac. The battle above Dac resulted in another loss to Stazi, and the Alliance forces captured the Advanced Star Destroyer Imperious, which was under construction at the planet's shipyards. Though the Relentless survived the battle, the Third Fleet was devastated. Disgraced, Valan gave command of the Relentless to the vessel's captain, Hoge, and retired to his quarters to contemplate suicide.
[edit] April 6, 2010 – Hosk Trey'lis
Hosk Trey'lis, a male Bothan Jedi Knight and healer, was one of the Jedi who worked on the Ossus Project—the project to have the Yuuzhan Vong terraform the worlds that had been ravaged by their invasion of the galaxy. After the project was sabotaged in 127 ABY by the One Sith, who had allied themselves with the Fel Empire, a war broke out between the Empire and the Alliance. Trey'lis managed to avoid the massacre of the Jedi Order on Ossus at the end of the Sith-Imperial War, and spent the next seven years on the run. In 137 ABY, Trey'lis was waiting in Brogar's cantina on the planet Lok for transport offworld when bounty hunter and former Jedi Cade Skywalker, along with fellow hunters Jariah Syn and Deliah Blue, burst into the cantina, seeking to capture the gambler Naxy Screeger. Trey'lis believed the bounty hunters were after him, and attempted to flee. Recognizing the Bothan was a Jedi, the hunters captured Trey'lis, and he was turned over to the Sith for the bounty cast upon living Jedi.
In the Temple of the Sith on the galactic captial of Coruscant, Trey'lis was tortured and interrogated by Darth Maladi, the head of Sith Intelligence and Assassination. Unable to resist her ruthless interrogation and torture techniques, Trey'lis eventually told her everything he knew about young Skywalker, whom Emperor Darth Krayt, the reigning Dark Lord of the Sith, sought for his healing ability. After having a vision of the Bothan, Skywalker traveled to Coruscant to rescue Trey'lis, only to get captured himself. A week later, after pretending to join Krayt and receiving training as a Sith, Skywalker attempted another rescue, but was once again thwarted. Both Trey'lis and Skywalker were taken to Krayt's chambers, where the Dark Lord attempted to convince Skywalker to kill the Bothan as a show of devotion to the Sith. Not wanting to be used as a weapon, Trey'lis pleaded with Skywalker not to turn to the dark side. Krayt then struck the Bothan down, and Trey'lis's body disappeared as he became one with the Force.
[edit] April 7, 2010 – Han Solo's sky house
Han Solo's sky house was the dwelling of Rebel hero General Han Solo and his Wookiee companion Chewbacca, designed and built personally by the pair. Solo and Chewbacca had long had the dream of settling in a sky house—a concept of their own design—before they finally got the chance in 5 ABY, when Cloud City Baron Administrator Lando Calrissian offered his old friend Solo a lease on a parcel of sky near Cloud City on Bespin. Solo and Chewbacca took a leave from the Senate Planetary Intelligence Network in order to construct the home in a rented Cloud City warehouse. The sky house was elaborate, a unique feat of engineering which boasted modern conveniences, luxurious furnishings, and such striking features as a rotating living room, a domed kitchen, a full engineering workshop, docking facilities for Solo's ship Millennium Falcon as well as a two-cloud-car garage, outdoor observation areas, and a plethora of bedrooms.
The home was swiftly completed, and Solo and Chewbacca threw a festive housewarming party which many galactic figures attended. Solo received many presents from his friends, most notably KT-18, a housekeeping droid to manage the residence. The intervention of claimant to the Imperial throne Trioculus and vengeful Zorba Desilijic Tiure, foes of Solo and his friends, on Bespin immediately after the party made life there untenable, and Solo was forced to abandon the house only hours after the housewarming party concluded. Solo harbored fond hopes of returning to his dream house, but time ultimately found him dwelling on Coruscant, not Bespin.
[edit] April 8, 2010 – Nishr Taskforce
The Nishr Taskforce was a unit of Alliance Special Forces assembled in 0 ABY for the Nishr Campaign, a series of battles fought on the planet Nishr during the Galactic Civil War. Comprised of three platoons of Wilderness Fighters and a single platoon of Pathfinders, the unit was commanded by Major Fisk Csino and styled as a light-armor company, employing numerous ground vehicles to keep the company on the move. Created in response to the forceful suppression of the native Nish by Imperial forces on Nishr, the Nishr Taskforce was assigned to harass the local garrison and encourage the local population to stage a guerrilla-style rebellion. Operating out of several hidden bases, the company—in concert with local forces from the Nishr Resistance—eliminated the Imperial garrison's mobile elements. This forced the Imperials to heavily defend their command base and effectively concede control of the countryside and plains to the Rebel force. As the campaign carried on, Major Csino's request for a unit of Infiltrator commandos to directly assault the garrison's command center was denied. Instead, the Alliance initiated Operation Shadowplay, designed to fool the Imperial planetary commander, Governor-General Vin Kollis, into thinking that the unit had been reinforced with Infiltrators, when in reality they had not been.
[edit] April 9, 2010 – Gideon Tarkin
Brigadier Gideon Tarkin was a member of the powerful Tarkin family of Eriadu who had a successful military career but was overshadowed by his elder brother, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin. Wilhuff and Gideon Tarkin both attended the same military academy before graduating and entering the Republic Outland Regions Security Force. Gideon Tarkin attained the rank of brigadier before returning to Eriadu, as Wilhuff did, to enter a career in government. Tarkin became the planet's Minister of Security, in which capacity he served until the outbreak of the Clone Wars.
During the Clone Wars, Tarkin returned to Republic service, taking a position in the Republic Military and commanding the Republic's efforts to defend Eriadu in the embattled Seswenna and Sluis sectors. Tarkin's military success gained him praise as he continued to loyally serve Palpatine under the rule of the Galactic Empire, but Wilhuff outstripped his younger brother, rising meteorically to the lofty rank of Grand Moff. In 5 BBY, Tarkin died in the course of the Erhynradd Mutiny. He was survived by his teenage daughter, Rivoche, who went on to defect to the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
[edit] April 10, 2010 – Darth Nihl
Darth Nihl was a Nagai male Sith Lord serving in Darth Krayt's Sith Empire during the Sith-Imperial War and the Second Imperial Civil War. A former Nagai warlord, Nihl had been recruited into the One Sith by Darth Krayt, and was initially made into his Fist, or military leader. However, this changed when Krayt's Hand, or enforcer, died, and Nihl was promoted to the position in 130 ABY as a result. One of Nihl's first missions was leading the assault on the Jedi Praxeum at Ossus, in which he killed Jedi Master Kol Skywalker and mortally wounded the Zabrak Master Wolf Sazen. Nihl returned to Coruscant and participated in Krayt's ascension to Galactic Emperor, in which the former Emperor of the Fel Empire, Roan Fel, was thought to be slain, although he actually survived.
Over the next seven years, Nihl acted as Krayt's top enforcer over the galaxy, until the Dark Lord promoted another, Darth Talon, to also serve in the position of Hand. Talon was sent to capture Fel's daughter, Marasiah, and Nihl was sent to reinforce her during the confrontation on Vendaxa between the Sith, Fel, Imperial Knights, and the Jedi who aided them. Skywalker's son, the bounty hunter Cade was among those who aided Fel, and confronted Nihl during the battle on Vendaxa, hoping to kill the Sith Lord for revenge over his father's death. Though Nihl did not defeat Skywalker, he later captured the bounty hunter when Skywalker infiltrated the Temple of the Sith to rescue the Bothan Jedi Knight Hosk Trey'lis. While Krayt attempted to turn Skywalker to the dark side of the Force, Nihl expressed doubts with Krayt's decisions, especially his obsession over Skywalker. Skywalker subsequently escaped, and the Emperor's Hand was sent to defeat him in combat. Nihl was bested in a duel, and had his right arm chopped off while Skywalker escaped. As a result, he was stripped of his title of Hand for his failure to defeat Skywalker and was put under Maladi's charge so that she could perform experiments on him using Yuuzhan Vong biots.
[edit] April 11, 2010 – Lanu Pasiq
Lanu Pasiq was a member of the Imperial Inquisitorius, who helped hunt down the fugitive Jedi Padawan Drake Lo'gaan and his friends, Ekria and Zonder. Following the rise of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY, Pasiq, a Force-sensitive, found herself in a group of prisoners who were either former members of the Agricultural Corps or other miscellaneous Force adepts. She, along with three others—Antinnis Tremayne, Halmere, and Gwellib Ap-Llewff—was selected by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader to be one of the first members of the Inquisitorius.
Among her first tasks was the capture of Lo'gaan, who was operating under the alias of "Jodd Sonta." With Tremayne leading the operation, Pasiq and the other Inquisitors made several attempts to capture the Jedi, to little avail. Much of Pasiq's time and resources were dedicated to the capture of Lo'gaan, and she found herself working with Imperial Intelligence. While one of Lo'gaan's allies, Zonder, was captured and later killed by Vader, the Inquisitors were unable to eliminate Lo'gaan or Ekria, and the task was left in the hands of the Dark Lord himself.
[edit] April 12, 2010 – Darth Stryfe
Darth Stryfe was a male Human and a member of the One Sith Order led by Darth Krayt, a Dark Lord of the Sith. Eventually rising to the rank of Sith Lord, Stryfe served Krayt after the deposing of Emperor Roan Fel at the end of the Sith-Imperial War. In the time of the ensuing conflict, he was selected to be Krayt's Fist, the head of the Empire's military. In 137 ABY, Stryfe oversaw a search for Jedi in the academy on the planet Ossus, and ordered its destruction. In that same year, after Krayt's Hands, Darth Nihl and Darth Talon, let former Jedi Cade Skywalker—who Krayt sought for his healing ability—escape the Sith Temple on the galactic capital of Coruscant, Stryfe was named Krayt's new Hand to replace Nihl.
The Sith discovered that Skywalker and his companions had attacked an Imperial outpost on the Deep Core world of Had Abbadon, and that among them was the spirit of the ancient Sith Lord Karness Muur. After Muur requested a meeting with Krayt, Stryfe was among those Krayt took with him to Had Abbadon. Discovering they had walked into a trap, the Sith engaged Skywalker and his allies. The Sith were defeated and Stryfe's body was recovered by Krayt's most trusted advisor Darth Wyyrlok, who placed the Human Sith Lord in a bacta tank. Unbeknownst to Stryfe, Wyyrlok had killed Krayt after the battle, deciding that the Dark Lord needed to die in order for Krayt's vision of the Sith to live. Taken to the Sith Temple on the Sith homeworld of Korriban for further healing, Stryfe awoke to discover he could no longer feel his Lord Krayt in his mind, and was convinced his master was dead. However, Wyyrlok convinced Stryfe that Krayt still lived, and explained that he would be taking control of the Empire while their Lord recovered. Believing the deception, Stryfe swore he would give his support to the Chagrian Sith Lord. Together the two left for Coruscant to secure the throne and implement the next stage in Krayt's plan for a unified galaxy.
[edit] April 13, 2010 – Yun
Yun, a Force-sensitive male Epicanthix, was the son of a wealthy mineral baron on Panatha. At a very young age, he became infatuated with Sariss, the Prophetess of the Church of the Dark Side. Following her teachings, he fell to the dark side of the Force and killed his own father. He later joined Jerec, the feared Dark Jedi and Inquisitor, and his band of Dark Jedi in the search for the Valley of the Jedi, a powerful Force nexus. In the city of Barons Hed on the planet Sulon, he dueled Kyle Katarn, a Jedi-in-training and the son of Morgan Katarn, the man who had discovered the valley and whose map Jerec used to locate it. Katarn defeated Yun but spared his life.
When they met again near the valley, Katarn had been rendered unconscious by the crash of his ship. Sariss tried to kill the defenseless Katarn with her lightsaber, but Yun, remembering that Katarn had not killed him when he had the chance, blocked Sariss's blow. Deflected by that block, Sariss's blade accidentally hit Yun himself, mortally wounding him. Before dying, Yun could only say that the Jedi was worthy of defending himself in a battle. However, that last action redeemed Yun, and the young Epicanthix became one with the Force, seeing the bright light as he died. Indirectly, Yun continued to help Katarn even after his death; it was Yun's lightsaber that Katarn used to defeat Jerec.
[edit] April 14, 2010 – 500 Republica
500 Republica was the most exclusive residential tower on Coruscant. A building in the Ambassadorial Sector of Galactic City's Senate District, it was home to some of the most wealthy and famous individuals in the Galactic Republic and Galactic Empire. One of the tallest buildings on Coruscant, 500 Republica was a mountainous structure holding more technology and people than some entire worlds. From the square kilometers of machinery at its base that kept it running, to the spire at its pinnacle above the clouds, 500 Republica featured fifty-three skydocks, hundreds of private turbolifts, a security staff the size of a small army, and a large number of security armaments including plasma weapons in its crown, all within a tower over a thousand stories tall.
Celebrities, businessmen, and Senators of the most privileged classes made their homes in 500 Republica. Among its inhabitants were Jheramahd Greyshade, Simon Greyshade, Padmé Amidala, Bail Organa, Raith Sienar, and Jenna Zan Arbor. Palpatine kept his residence at 500 Republica for over a decade, during his time as Senator, Supreme Chancellor, and Galactic Emperor. It was there that he met with his Sith apprentice Darth Maul, convinced then-Queen Amidala to call for a Vote of No Confidence in Finis Valorum, and kept a hidden command center in the building's depths during the Clone Wars. Valorum spoke with Bail Organa about opposing Palpatine's moves towards tyranny in Organa's 500 Republica residence.
Republic Intelligence and the Jedi tracked Palpatine's alter ego, Darth Sidious, to the building's basement in 19 BBY, at the end of the Clone Wars. While the Jedi were distracted by the battle breaking out above the planet, Captain Dyne of Intelligence located Sidious' lair, but he and his team were killed. During the battle, the upper part of the building was attacked by Separatist General Grievous as part of an ultimately successful strike to kidnap Palpatine.
[edit] April 15, 2010 – Green Wing
Green Wing was the call sign of a male member of Green Squadron, a Rebel Alliance RZ-1 A-wing interceptor unit that fought during the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY. During the Alliance Fleet's engagement with the Imperial Navy above the Forest Moon of Endor, Green Wing flew into combat alongside Gold Leader General Lando Calrissian, Red Leader Commander Wedge Antilles, and Blue Leader Merrick Simms in an attack on the Empire's main communications ship, which had been jamming the Rebel Fleet.
As the four pilots moved in on the Star Destroyer, Green Wing's starfighter was hit by enemy fire, and he crashed into the communications ship's forward batteries. This sacrifice enabled Calrissian and Antilles to destroy the warship—though Simms was killed as well—and stop the Imperials' jamming of the Rebel flotilla. The Alliance forces would go on to destroy the second Death Star and win the battle, despite many casualties.
[edit] April 16, 2010 – Zaalbar
Zaalbar (pronounced /'zɑlbɑɹ/), also nicknamed "Big Z", was a male Wookiee who aided the former Sith Lord Revan in his quest throughout the galaxy to find and destroy the Star Forge superweapon . Originating from the Mid Rim Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, Zaalbar was the son of Wookiee Chieftain Freyyr, but had been exiled from his homeworld. Zaalbar was considered in Wookiee culture to be a madclaw, a title of dishonor, as he had attacked his brother Chuundar with his climbing claws, violating a Wookiee code of conduct. Despite his brother's deals with slavers, which had led to their fight, Zaalbar's father did not believe his accusations against Chuundar. Leaving Kashyyyk, Zaalbar traveled to the planet Taris where he encountered and befriended the Twi'lek orphan Mission Vao. Zaalbar and Vao traveled everywhere on Taris together. The two protected one another in the absence of any other companions and a close bond was forged between them. Also, the duo affiliated themselves with the Undercity gang known as the Hidden Beks.
When the amnesiac Revan traveled to the planet alongside Republic soldier Carth Onasi and began a search for the Jedi Knight Bastila Shan, whom they needed to find to aid the Republic war effort against the Sith Empire, they encountered Vao and Zaalbar. After Zaalbar was captured by Gamorrean slavers and held prisoner in the sewers of the Undercity, Vao turned to Revan and his companions for help in rescuing the Wookiee. With their combined abilities, Revan and his party were able to do so. Escaping Taris with Revan and his companions after the orbital bombardment of the planet that resulted in the destruction of Taris, Zaalbar agreed to travel around the galaxy with Revan and his companions to search for the ancient Star Map artifacts which would lead them to the Star Forge. As one of the Star Maps was located on Kashyyyk, Zaalbar returned to his homeworld with Revan in search of it. With Revan's help he cleared his name and liberated his homeworld from the slaving operations of the pan-galactic Czerka Corporation. He parted ways with Revan after the defeat and death of Sith Lord Darth Malak.
[edit] April 17, 2010 – Bhindi Drayson
Bhindi Drayson was a Human female and daughter of New Republic Admiral Hiram Drayson and Joi Eicroth. She served with Wraith Squadron as a tactics expert during the Yuuzhan Vong War, and was with the Wraiths on Borleias after the Fall of Coruscant. As part of the defense of Borleias, Drayson participated in several efforts to keep the Yuuzhan Vong at bay.
Her stay on Borleias was cut short when she and several other Wraiths were assigned to an infiltration mission to the fallen galactic capital of Coruscant, along with three Jedi. In the original mission plan, Drayson was to remain on Coruscant until the New Republic returned to take the world; her skills would be put to use aiding survivors and transmitting intelligence to the New Republic. After seeing the situation on the ground, however, Wraith Leader Garik Loran decided that leaving Drayson behind would be pointless. Following the completion of their mission with the Jedi defeating the renegade Dark Jedi Irek Ismaren, Drayson instead returned with the rest of party to Borleias, except for Wraith biologist Baljos Arnjak, who decided to remain on Coruscant. Drayson would later serve as part of the briefing team in preparation for the final stages of the Yuuzhan Vong War.
[edit] April 18, 2010 – Ranulph Tarkin
Ranulph Tarkin was an important and ambitious politician in the waning days of the Galactic Republic who played a critical role in sparking the Stark Hyperspace War, in which he was remembered as a hero. As of 44 BBY, Tarkin was serving as the senator for Seswenna sector and the leader of the Senate's militarist faction. Determined that the Republic could not be secure without centralized armed forces, he demanded the recreation of the Republic Military and formed his own prototype fleet and army.
When Iaco Stark created a crisis by pirating the Trade Federation's shipments during a bacta shortage, Tarkin saw his opportunity to win the day. He pressured Trade Federation Minister Nute Gunray into giving up the location of a secret summit on Troiken in which Tarkin's political rival Senator Finis Valorum and a Jedi delegation would mediate between the Stark Commercial Combine and the Trade Federation. At Gunray's signal that all parties were assembled, Tarkin sent his full paramilitary force to Troiken, determined to stamp out Stark's pirates by force of arms and prove the value of a strong military once and for all.
The attack went awry when Stark anticipated that the senator would ambush him and infected Tarkin's fleet with a navigational computer virus. Tarkin was among the reduced fleet that made the jump to Troiken, where they were battered by Stark's navy. Tarkin had to abandon ship and seek shelter in the abandoned mines of Mount Avos with the Jedi and Valorum. There he fell apart, dejected at his loss, and was inclined to give up. The Jedi and Tarkin's aide, Jace Dallin, took over leadership of Tarkin's army and held out against Stark's troops, building a burning resentment and shame inside Tarkin. Finally, as victory neared under Jedi Master Plo Koon, Tarkin took his fate back in his own hands and absconded with an explosive. Sacrificing himself, he released a swarm of carnivorous challat eaters from behind a cave-in, killing himself but taking Stark's troops, trapped by Koon's strategy, with him. In the aftermath, due to the political influence of the Tarkin family, Ranulph Tarkin's reputation remained strong and he was recalled as the hero of Troiken for his part in the defeat.
[edit] April 19, 2010 – Kumac
Kumac was a Hutt crime lord who emerged as joint leader of the Desilijic clan in the aftermath of Jabba Desilijic Tiure's death. Kumac worked as one of Jabba's most trusted operatives before his death, and was known for her efficiency and loyalty. She also acted as a liaison between Jabba and various high-ranking Imperial criminals.
Jabba's death during the skirmish at Carkoon threw the Hutts, and the Desilijic clan in particular, into disarray, and prompted the beginning of months of infighting between the Hutts. Kumac acted quickly, working alongside former mercenary Brasck to seize much of Jabba's holdings in the Expansion Region and calling in favors from her Imperial contacts to establish herself as one of the most powerful Hutts of the time.
Kumac eventually teamed up with an old rival, Jelasi, who had also profited greatly from Jabba's demise, to become the new joint leader of the Desilijic clan. However, in 5 ABY, Jabba's father Zorba returned to Hutt Space after his time in prison on Kip, and Kumac and Jelasi were deposed when Zorba produced a will of Jabba's, entitling him to his son's holdings throughout the galaxy.
[edit] April 20, 2010 – Gallandro
Gallandro was a renowned gunslinger in the years before the Battle of Yavin, known as the fastest draw in the galaxy and a ruthless killer. A Human born on Ylix, he saw his parents killed before his eyes as a child by terrorists from Goelitz. As soon as he came of age, Gallandro enlisted in the Ylix militia. In the course of the war, Gallandro became addicted to the rush of battle and the joy of the kill, evincing complete disdain for the lives of others. When the rival planet's forces were defeated, Gallandro left the military for a career as a gunman for hire. Gallandro made a fearsome reputation as a gunfighter, performing numerous acts of daring and skill, among which was the extermination of the five notorious killers of the Malorm family. That act drew the ire of the Assassins' Guild, forcing Gallandro to hold off Guild assassins for ten years. He finally forced the Guild to back down by personally slaying half that body's Elite Circle.
Eventually tiring of life on the fringe, Gallandro accepted a secure position on the right side of the law as an elite field agent for Territorial Manager Odumin of the Corporate Sector Authority. There he lived a life of comfort between bouts of action until, in 1 BBY, he encountered the smuggler Han Solo. Investigating a ring of slavers with Odumin, he covertly made use of Solo, who was seeking revenge against the slavers, to expose the ringleaders. During the course of the plan, Gallandro had to back down from a duel with Solo on Ammuud twice due to circumstances outside his control. Solo's cocky attitude and parting insults galled Gallandro.
In 0 BBY, he finally got his chance to prove himself against Solo on Dellalt. On hearing that Solo and a group of treasure hunters were on Dellalt, he proceeded there and waited for them at a mining camp. As Solo arrived, an army of war-robots attacked. Gallandro and Solo were forced to put aside their differences to survive; when Gallandro learned that they had a line on Xim the Despot's fabled hoard, Gallandro partnered with the others to get into the vaults. There, he turned on Solo and forced a duel. Gallandro outdrew the younger smuggler, but in attempting to finish off fellow treasure-hunter Skynx, he strayed past the warning lights Skynx had disabled and into a no-weapons area. Gallandro was struck down by the ancient automated security systems, but survived by his infant daughter Anja Gallandro.
[edit] April 21, 2010 – YV-100 light freighter
The YV-100 light freighter was the first of the Corellian Engineering Corporation's YV series starships released in the era surrounding the rise of the Galactic Empire. Its 46.5-meter-long frame housed enough room to hold 150 cubic meters of cargo, as well as other vital starship systems, including the hyperdrive, weaponry, and living arrangements. On the exterior, the ship resembled CEC's YT series line in the rear portion—this design feature was due to the influence of the popular YT series already on the market which the designers brought along. The body also featured a long, slender forward portion—a feature that would become trademark to the future ships of the YV series.
The ship was considered to be well-built and hardy by pilots of its era, and, while considered an unremarkable ship design, was well-received by those who bought it. Even so, the YV-100 was not as easily modifiable as other CEC ships still on the market and as a result never gained the popularity its YT series cousins had. Still, even with the slightly lowered demand, the YV-100 light freighter lasted from its original release well into the climax of the Yuuzhan Vong War.
[edit] April 22, 2010 – Raid on Ziro the Hutt's Coruscant club
The raid on Ziro the Hutt's Coruscant club took place on the galactic capital of Coruscant during the Clone Wars. Senator Padmé Amidala informed her protocol droid, C-3PO, that she had been captured and detained at Ziro the Hutt's palace for discovering the Hutt's affiliation with Count Dooku, leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The droid contacted the Coruscant Guard, who sent a team, led by Clone Commander Fox, to storm the palace with the primary objective of rescuing the senator.
The raid saw the successful rescue of Amidala and the capture of Ziro. Through the use of Ziro's comm equipment, contact was also reestablished with Jabba the Hutt, who had been ignoring communications from the Republic during this time due to his mistaken belief that the Republic intended to wipe out his entire clan. This contact allowed Amidala to prove that the Republic was not plotting against Jabba by exposing Ziro's hand in the true plot against him, masterminded by Dooku. Assured of the Republic's innocence, Jabba agreed to a treaty between the Republic and his clan, allowing Republic forces safe passage through Hutt Space, giving them access to the Outer Rim Territories, which had been cut off by the Separatists.
[edit] April 23, 2010 – Kren Blista-Vanee
Kren Blista-Vanee was a prominent advisor to Emperor Palpatine and a member of the Imperial Inner Circle during the Galactic Civil War. Blista-Vanee was an important figure alongside the likes of Bregius Golthan and Alec Pradeux. A socialite and connoisseur of fine art, he lived in a sizable, lavishly decorated high-rise mansion on Imperial Center, where he often held parties for the planet's elite.
In 3 ABY, Blista-Vanee and several other advisors presided over the New Year Fete Week ceremonies in the Emperor's absence, with Palpatine busy in the Deep Core. Blista-Vanee was one of five advisors who accompanied the Emperor to the second Death Star in 4 ABY, while Palpatine oversaw the superweapon's construction. During the ensuing Battle of Endor, Palpatine was killed and the Death Star was destroyed by the Rebel Alliance.
[edit] April 24, 2010 – Mirta Gev
Mirta Gev was a female Mandalorian bounty hunter around the time of the Second Galactic Civil War. Born on Mandalore as the daughter of a bounty hunter, Ailyn Vel, she embarked on a quest first undertaken by her mother, which was to find and kill her grandfather, the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett, who had abandoned Ailyn Vel at a young age. When Gev finally tracked Fett down in 40 ABY, she ended up entering into a partnership with the dying bounty hunter to find a cure for his illness. Gev assisted Fett in finding a bounty hunter named Skirata, who had medical data needed to treat Fett.
She continued to work with Fett after that endeavor, including a mission to find Gev's grandmother and Fett's wife, Sintas Vel, who had been frozen in carbonite since 1 ABY. Gev would later take care of Vel while she recovered from her time in carbon freeze. Once Vel was well enough to be on her own, Gev fought on the front lines of the Mandalorian involvement in the Second Galactic Civil War, including fighting in the Second Battle of Fondor and the First Battle of Roche. It was after Roche that she was captured by the Galactic Alliance Chief of State, Sith Lord Darth Caedus, and interrogated. Following her interrogation, the Moffs of the Imperial Remnant released a nanovirus into the atmosphere of her home planet of Mandalore, preventing her from returning home.
[edit] April 25, 2010 – Daeshara'cor
Daeshara'cor was a green-skinned female Twi'lek Jedi Knight of the New Jedi Order who died in battle during the Yuuzhan Vong War. Having spent much of her childhood accompanying her mother, a traveling dancer, across the galaxy, Daeshara'cor was familiar with living life on the fringe. When her mother was sold into slavery and died in servitude, the Force-sensitive Twi'lek became embittered and hateful toward slavers and their ilk. She joined Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order and worked hard to attain the rank of Jedi Knight, training two fellow Twi'leks, Alema and Numa Rar. When the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong species invaded the galaxy in 25 ABY, Daeshara'cor abandoned her support of the Jedi Master, becoming openly critical of what she saw as Skywalker's passivity in the face of the Yuuzhan Vong threat. Hardened in her resolve by the extensive slavery carried out by the Yuuzhan Vong, the Jedi Knight set off alone to find her own means of defeating the invaders.
Daeshara'cor began a search for superweapons in the hope that the Galactic Empire that had designed the Death Star and the Sun Crusher had left other tools of mass destruction behind. Daeshara'cor's search led her to Vortex, where she met with the Omwati scientist Qwi Xux, and from thence to Garos IV, a library world. On Garos IV, Daeshara'cor was tracked down by Luke Skywalker, his wife and Anakin Solo. Daeshara'cor initially held Solo for ransom in exchange for information on superweapons but was overpowered and dissuaded from her course of action. Coming to realize that her desire to attack the Yuuzhan Vong was one of selfishness, Daeshara'cor accompanied the bulk of the New Jedi Order to Ithor in order to defend the planet against a Yuuzhan Vong strike. Paired with Anakin Solo during the ensuing battle, Daeshara'cor was mortally wounded in combat while saving the younger Jedi and was taken to a medical bay, where she prepared herself for death. Before dying, the Twi'lek Jedi Knight spoke with Anakin Solo, with whom she had become friends, and urged the young Jedi to believe that she did not regret saving him, as in doing so she had enabled him to continue his service to life and to the Force.
[edit] April 26, 2010 – Mad About Me
"Mad About Me" was a song performed by Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. One of their favorites, it was being played by them in Chalmun's Cantina when Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi entered to find passage off Tatooine in 0 BBY. Kenobi and Skywalker got into a fight with the patrons Ponda Baba and Cornelius Evazan shortly after arriving, interrupting the playing of the Modal Nodes, but when the fracas died down, they resumed the song. The Modal Nodes performed it again in Chalmun's later that year, during a broadcast by the Galactic Empire about life on Tatooine. The bartender Ackmena's own song, "Goodnight, But Not Goodbye", shared many elements of its instrumentals with "Mad About Me". Many years later, Reelo Baruk's bar on Nar Shaddaa kept the song playing as ambient music.
[edit] April 27, 2010 – Steadfast (Ardent-class)
The Steadfast was an Ardent-class fast frigate in the service of Darth Krayt's Sith Empire during the Second Imperial Civil War, seven years after the Dark Lord overthrew Galactic Emperor Roan Fel at the end of the Fel Empire's war with the Galactic Alliance. In 137 ABY, under the command of Captain Vaclen Tor, the Steadfast was assigned to the Coruscant Third Fleet, which had been tasked with protecting the strategically important planet of Ralltiir. That year, the fleet of the Galactic Alliance Remnant launched a surprise attack on Ralltiir, intending to capture as many of the Third Fleet's ships as possible. Under the command of Admiral Peto Kelsan, the Third Fleet engaged the Alliance forces until the Bastion Second Fleet, aligned with Emperor-in-exile Fel, arrived to bolster the Alliance fleet.
Facing overwhelming numbers, Kelsan surrendered the Third Fleet to Admiral Edouard Fenel, the commander of the Bastion Second Fleet. However, Tor declared from the command center of the Steadfast that he must decline to follow Kelsan's orders to surrender, as it was their duty to ensure the enemy did not capture their ships. In response, Fenel ordered the crew of the Steadfast to rise up and replace Tor, and when that failed, Fenel ordered his entire fleet to open fire on the Steadfast. Refusing to help fire on the now heavily damaged frigate, Kelsan instructed the crews of the Third Fleet to disregard his previous order and to initiate the self-destruct mechanisms on their ships, before using lifepods to evacuate to Ralltiir. When Fenel ordered his ships to fire on the lifepods of the Third Fleet, the commander of the Alliance fleet—Duros Admiral Gar Stazi—intervened, protecting the lifepods and escorting the Steadfast, as the frigate's lifepod and self-destruct systems had been damaged. After the battle, under orders from Stazi, Tor and the Steadfast crew were deposited on the surface of Ralltiir, and the Steadfast was given to Fel as a gift.
[edit] April 28, 2010 – Battle of Abregado
The Battle of Abregado was a space battle that took place around 22 BBY during the Clone Wars. Following the defeat of Jedi General Ares Nune's task force in the Phu system at the hands of the Confederate warship Malevolence, High Jedi General Plo Koon of the Galactic Republic took several Venator-class Star Destroyers to find and destroy the ship. Koon tracked the Malevolence to the Abregado system, but the warship attacked his fleet with its ion cannons, and the Star Destroyers were left defenseless. Shortly before the cruisers fell to turbolaser fire, several clone troopers managed to flee in escape pods, and Koon escaped in a pod with Clone Commander Wolffe, Clone Sergeant Sinker and trooper Boost.
Dooku dispatched several boarding craft with rocket battle droids to eliminate the survivors, as he did not want the survivors to inform the Republic of the Malevolence. Only Koon and the three clones in his pod were able to defeat the battle droids who came in search of survivors. Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano, soon arrived in the system aboard Skywalker's personal ship, the Twilight, and they rescued Koon and the clones. The Twilight encountered the Malevolence, but the Jedi and clones successfully evaded a wave from the warship's ion cannons by jumping to hyperspace. Their escape brought the knowledge of the nature of the weapon to the Republic.
[edit] April 29, 2010 – Venka
Venka was a Human male officer in the Imperial Navy during the height of the Galactic Civil War. A native of the Imperial throne world of Coruscant, Venka had a spoiled childhood, raised the son of a wealthy industrialist. Venka attended one of the oldest military training academies in the Core Worlds, where his many connections helped him graduate at the top of his class.
After the Empire's catastrophe at the Battle of Yavin, Venka was one of many non-commissioned officers promoted to fill the hole of many of those considered the Imperial Navy's best lost in the destruction of the Death Star. Venka's academy connections earned him a prestigious assignment to the Super Star Destroyer Executor, the personal flagship of the Lord Darth Vader. During the Hoth campaign of 3 ABY, Venka served as a lieutenant on the Executor's bridge, under the command of Captain Firmus Piett.
Upon Vader's execution of Admiral Kendal Ozzel, the Executor's commanding officer, during the Battle of Hoth, the Executor's admiralty passed to Piett, although Piett denied Venka a similar promotion to captain, saying the remainder of the Hoth campaign would be a test of Venka's command abilities. Venka secretly detested Piett for this, but he nevertheless resolved to do his job the best he could. At the conclusion of the Hoth campaign, which ultimately saw the escape of the Rebel Alliance and Luke Skywalker, Vader's son, Piett finally granted Venka his promotion to captain.
