Hello and welcome to INQCON, the newest initiative from the Inquisitorius to help speed up the process of featured article nominations. This process is not policy, nor will it affect articles in any way, shape or form. Likewise, it will have no real bearing for regular users. This is merely a tool to be used by Inquisitors to help guide them towards their next article review, much like the recently introduced Triage system. Here's a brief rundown of how the INQCON system works:
- An INQCON number indicates how many Inquisitors are fully involved in a given featured article nomination, whether they are supporting or objecting.
- This does not include Inquisitors who have made a small objection after briefly glancing at an article. Inquisitors that contribute to a given INQCON number are only those who have read the entire article, or intend to.
- A new section will be added to the "numbers heading" of each nomination. So, for example, nominations will now read (0 Inqs/0 Users/0 Total/INQCON 0).
- Inquisitors who wish to read a nomination in its entirety should then add a number to the INQCON field. This can just as easily be subtracted if an Inquisitor wishes to no longer work on a given nomination.
- The idea is that once a nomination has reached INQCON 5, it will require no more Inquisitors reviewing it. This is not to say that an Inquisitor cannot review an article that is on INQCON 5—an Inquisitor can review whatever they want, but they will now go into any such nomination with the knowledge that their eventual support vote will be a redundancy. In these cases, it is not necessary to add to the INQCON number—5 is the maximum, merely to reduce confusion.
- It is also requested that an Inquisitor who is changing an INQCON number change the respective INQCON number on the Triage, as this system will be used in conjunction with that one to maximize efficiency.
I hope that this has made the INQCON system clear to you now. For the initial implementation, this page will be linked to from each of the nominations' "number headings," to help introduce the concept to both Inquisitors and users.
