- "This was the formal weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. More skill than simple sight was required for its use. An elegant weapon. It was a symbol as well. Anyone can use a blaster or a fusioncutter—but to use a lightsaber well was a mark of someone a cut above the ordinary."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi[src]
The winner of the Most Recognizable Object from Star Wars deserves to be written thus:
Ever since that moment in A New Hope when Luke first ignites his "father's light-saber," one of the most recognizable symbols of Star Wars has been the lightsaber, tool of the Jedi and weapon of the Sith. Every time you see one in media, or even a cheap knockoff of one, you immediately think, "Star Wars!" And this popularity goes beyond fans of the franchise. From Wikipedia:
"According to a 2008 survey of approximately two thousand film fans conducted by 20th Century Fox, the lightsaber is the most popular film weapon."
Thank you all for your ideas! It is more than likely that other contest ideas submitted here will be drafted into future contests, but this time around the winning submission comes from Jorrel Fraajic.
Most Recognizable Object is a contest to find the objects that, when you see them out of context, immediately bring Star Wars or a specific character/event/object to mind. Feel free to vote or add more nominees!
Just remember: only registered Wookieepedians are allowed to vote. Fake or anonymous votes will be removed. Please indicate your vote using the #-sign.
