- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith as one of seven films being considered for nomination for Best Visual Effects at the 78th Academy Awards. Sith, along with Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, King Kong and War of the Worlds, will be screened by the Visual Effects Award Nominating Committee on January 25, 2006, at which time they will nominate three of the films. Nominations will be officially announced on January 31, and the winner will be presented on March 5.
