Is there a reason I can't vote?
- The page is semiprotected to prevent anonymous users from voting. However, semiprotection also extends to new users. Give it a day and you can edit it. -- SFH 06:43, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

- That's ok. I love spending some of my spare time here editing and participating in things like this. If they are deleted for questionable reasons, without warning or recourse, then that's ok. No really I don't mind. I should just be grateful that I am allowed to visit this site, it's administration is so fantastic.Ghost Maker 23:43, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

- Only a day? I've been on for about three now and I still cannot vote. What gives? --Gui-Jon Dess 07:30, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- Just for note: I had to wait about 4-5 days before the option to edit the page showed up, although I still don't understand why as I saw nothing in the FAQ or help files about this. If anyone can explain or point me to some rule on here where this is stated, that would be nice, thanks. --Gui-Jon Dess 19:45, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

- I cant vote and its day 3 so depending on when the vote closes i probably wont be able to vote. --User:Axx1000 0:23 31 december 2008 (UTC)

I voted for Guri, Leia Organa Solo, and Padmé Amidala, but for some reason my votes are not showing up any more. What happend?
WHLfan (talk to me!) 21:00, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- You must have gotten edit conflicted. It happens on especially popular pages such as this. Just add the votes again. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:13, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] I don't like their kind
Are droids actually allowed to be nominated? because they don't have genders--Power courage wisdom and time 03:46, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
- I wouldn't go looking under Guri's skirt to find out. Graestan(Talk) 04:58, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ???
I'm new, so I don't know this, but....: How do I vote?
- Go underneath the person's name in which you would like to vote and put a pound (#) and your signature (~~~~). If you would like to know how to nominate a new character from the Star Wars universe, there are instructions on how to do so at the top of the page. Kgrimes2 03:16, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] So much Ahsoka hate...
I thought we were voting for Miss Star Wars 2008 NOT Hottest Female of Star Wars 2008. I'm not saying she should be the best this year, but alot are voting against her just because of her age, and that its creepy to vote for someone this young. Ahsoka voters think she's awesome, not hot. (I think...) Zakor1138 01:14, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
- But you have to remember that alot of the Ahsoka voters are doing it purely because she's 'apparently' hot, young and a virgin. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 22:04, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Totally Agree I mean, she DID gain a lot of popularity in The Clone Wars so why not give her a chance. StarWarsRocks! 02:40, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I noticed this as well. I counted 11 (so far) votes for Guri that claimed to be solely (or at least primarily) as votes against Ashoka. If they weren't there, Ashoka would be on top. Should that be allowed? Maybe the multiple votes thing needs to be re-thought. So much hate when we are supposed to be showing our love. Sheesh. --Gui-Jon Dess 11:36, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I think so too. The multiple choice should disappear. I mean... everyone should choose his or her Miss Star Wars, this voting is not to make oneself a harem or so. §ugly -- Sol (discuss) 18:12, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- But doesn't everyone have a right to equally like more than one character? Sure, I voted for Guri, Latara, and Daala and I would hate to have Ahsoka to win, but that's just because I actually believe they are all equally good characters. There's nothing wrong with that. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 22:02, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't say that there was anything wrong with that. Heck, I voted for four people myself (and two guys). What I was saying was that by doing it this way we are allowing people to abuse the system (at least what I and some others see as abuse), and that perhaps changing that policy would be the best solution. Maybe there is a better one. Maybe just by making people aware of the problem they will stop being silly and there is no need to change anything. However this is the open Internet and I've found that kind of solution virtually never works. So can you (or anyone) come up with a better one? Hate-voting isn't getting into the spirit of the event, and indeed manipulating the results by taking advantage of the privilege of being able to vote more than once. Hence my original suggestion was that this policy needs to be "rethought"; I wasn't suggesting any particular change or solution. Feel free to discuss. --Gui-Jon Dess 23:25, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- If we took out all the anti-votes then it whould be 48 Guri and 55 ahsoka. Also i dont think that anti votes should be counted. --User:Axx1000 21:49, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- Look, while your ideas about no anti-votes have merit, your ideas about solutions to the problem do not. Multi-voting is sometimes a cause for anti-voting, but banning it would be unfair for people who really do like more than one character, not to mention it wouldn't root out everyone. As for Axx1000's suggestion, users would simply not say that it was an anti-vote and just sign their name. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 03:59, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- If you didnt tell them then when you count the votes, take them out OR if it wasnt allowed then they cant pick 1 person to just vote for as anti's. --User:Axx1000 22:37, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Potential for sockpuppetry
I was thinking, given all the freshly registerd users that are popping up (probably just to vote, then disappear forever), and given the nature of this contest, isn't there are strong possibilty of sockpuppetry here? I mean, a lot of new users might be tempted to register multiple accouts and cheat. I think it would be a good idea for the admins to run CheckUser (that's what it's called, right?) on all the redlinked and newly registerd users who voted, just to be sure that nobody is cheating, and remove any invalid sockpuppet votes. That's what I think, anyway. Gray Jedi 21:25, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- Surely staff have more important things to be doing. Chances are, most are just people who saw the sitenotice and wanted to take part. Remember, this is meaningless and just supposed to be "a bit of fun." -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 21:28, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- True, but abusing multiple accounts is still a violation of policy, and should be weeded out. And there's nothing stopping some of these users from using their sockpuppets elsewhere on Wookieepedia. Which is why I think it would be good to make sure that there aren't any sockpuppets being used here, and if there are any, they should be dealt with. Gray Jedi 21:37, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- A bit of fun? There is nothing but hate-voting going on here. If Guri wins, she is NOT truley Miss Star Wars 2008. Zakor1138 02:02, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Excuse me? Hate voting? I would prefer Ashoka not win, I did not vote for Guri. At the same time, the person who nominated Guri did it because they believed Guri should win. I doubt everybody who voted for Guri hates Ashoka.--Xinder 02:08, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- No, but read my comment above in "Ashoka hate". At that time there were 11 Guri votes specifically aimed at making Ashoka lose. I haven't recounted but there are many more now. Ashoka also is only 4 behind now. That means that if everybody played nice and didn't "hate-vote", Ashoka would be winning. Thus if the vote were to stop right now, what Zakor1138 said is true, Guri would not be the "winner" because that many people liked her; more people liked Ashoka. Guri is only ahead because of the hate-votes. If Guri wasn't the prime contender against Ashoka, those same hate-votes would go to someone else. So no, not everyone voting for Guri is doing so, many actually like her (as do I actually). I just think that Ashoka should win this year because she is the more entertaining character. If you don't want her to win, you vote for someone else you do want to win. But since we can all vote for more than one, many people are doing that and voting against Ashoka. That defeats the whole purpose of trying to figure out who people like most because you are also voting against yourself! --Gui-Jon Dess 03:44, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I Agree with Gray Jedi here. Not regulating this will only encourage sock puppetry, which could come back to bite us later. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 03:59, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't understand why you'd want 2 accounts. This is my second, but that's because I forgot my old password, it was over a year ago. Other than this, what does 2 accounts help with?--Xinder 23:30, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vote
how many people do we get to vote for?????Meesa yoda 02:54, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- At the moment, as many as you like! (some people want to change that, see the above two sections). SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 02:55, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Come On People....
hey i can't believe there's so many haters out there. I mean, the only reason Guri is winning is because so many people hate Ahsoka. it's not like i have anything against anyone, but this is just not fair, you're all just voting for Guri just so that Ahsoka DOES NOT win, that's just wrong. besides, Ahsoka is not that bad, i think she deserves to be this year's Miss Star Wars because she's a great new character, aside from being a main character in The Clone Wars (the movie and the series), so just give her a chance.(StarWarsRocks! 02:52, 31 December 2008 (UTC))
- Vote Guri! Seriously, we all just find Ahsoka annoying. Chack Jadson (Talk) 02:54, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- Not everybody. Read the Ahsoka votes. Jeez. Zakor1138 03:20, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- Nobody can complain me. I didn't vote for Guri nor Ahsoka. I vote only for Princess Kneesaa. Although many Wookieepedians hates Ewoks, as Ahsoka and other teenagers... -- Delmar Nori 14:39, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Not everybody. Read the Ahsoka votes. Jeez. Zakor1138 03:20, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- AHEM! There are other sections on this talk page dedicated to this, it is rather annoying that they keep popping up. If another one appears, I WILL vote for Guri.--Xinder 08:32, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
