Worrts were creatures that lived in the desertic wastes of the planet Tatooine.[3] The members of that non-sentient species had a large, toothy mouth and a long tongue. When hungry, a worrt settled into the sand, becoming undistinguishable from a rocky outcropping, and waited for a prey to pass by it.[1] When its victim came close enough, the worrt threw its tongue out of its mouth and wrapped it around the prey. The creature's tongue then snapped back, throwing the food down its throat.[2] Around four years after the Battle of Yavin,[4] a worrt lived on a road leading through the Dune Sea to an ancient monastery the palace of Jabba the Hutt.[1]
