"We don't know what made them so crazy, but the black-and-white one seems to be their leader."
Sera Jossi[3]

Wrhisch was a male Wookiee who lived on the planet of Kashyyyk during the Galactic Civil War. He was once afflicted by a strange disease that turned him mad, along with his Wookiee followers, until a spacer put him out of his misery.

Biography[]

"There is a large wookiee down in a destroyed village called Wrhisch. He was one of the first to come under the sickness and is dying from the decay it causes. If you could put him out of his misery and bring his liver to the doctor, a cure might be found."
―Sera Jossi, to a spacer[1]

After the Battle of Yavin, a strange new disease afflicted a number of Wookiees in the vicinity of Kachirho. The illness was marked by deteriorating health, giving rise to a madness which compelled the anguished Wookiees to attack anyone who approached them. Wrhisch was one of the first to come under the sickness[1] and likely caused other Wookiees in the area to go berserk as well.[4] The mad Wookiees gathered in an old abandoned village at a short distance north of Kachirho[1] and Wrhisch became their leader.[4]

Crazy Wookiee village 2

In 1 ABY,[2] the Galactic Empire began posting bounties on the crazy Wookiee who had become too dangerous.[5] In the meantime, the Wookiee bio-engineer Cheyerooto and a Human woman named Sera Jossi intended to discover the cause of the affliction.[1] As Jossi considered some sacrifices might be necessary for the overall good, she tasked a spacer with killing Wrhisch and collecting his liver. The latter was one of the first to get sick and Doctor Cheyerooto thought that the liver could be used to identify the disease and develop a cure. Because Wrhisch was already dying from the decay the disease caused, the spacer accepted the task. The latter then explored the village inhabited by the mad Wookiees, found Wrhisch and attacked him. The black-and-white Wookiee was eventually killed in the fight.[1]

Legacy[]

After the death of Wrhisch, the spacer delivered his liver to Doctor Cheyerooto.[1] As expected, the organ from the sick Wookiee allowed the bio-engineer to start developing a cure to treat the other afflicted Wookiees.[6]

Behind the scenes[]

Wrhisch was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[7] Wrhisch was added to the game with the release of the expansion pack Rage of the Wookiees on May 5, 2005.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
