X-R37T was an orbital probe droid that was part of an Imperial network of such probes that witnessed the catastrophic end of the Invasion of Ziost. The energy released by Vitiate disabled technology across the globe, sending the orbital probes crashing to the planet's surface. The memory cores of many of the probes, including X-R37T, were scavenged to gather data on the event, though the droid reactivated upon an initial attempts and was destroyed in order to retrieve the core.[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

X-R37T was added to the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic in Game Update 3.2: Rise of the Emperor,[2] which was released on April 28, 2015.[3] The Daily Mission "Looking for Signs" involves retrieving memory cores of crashed probes, which often causes the targeted droid to rise up and attack the player. X-R37T is one of four rare enemies—the others being X-361D, X-662J, and X-124D—that can spawn during this mission in place of a standard probe; destroying it and destroying all four both unlock a hidden achievements.[2]

Notes and referencesEdit

  1. Using information from the novel The Old Republic: Annihilation and Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire, the events of Game Updates 2.0 through 3.3 for Star Wars: The Old Republic can be placed in the time period between 3640 BBY and 3637 BBY. According to The Old Republic's lead designer Charles Boyd (screenshot), the game's events can be assumed to occur in a timeline matching that of their real-time release. Therefore, the events of Game Update 3.2: Rise of the Emperor can be placed in approximately 3637 BBY, just prior to Chapter I of Fallen Empire.
