The X-Wing Miniatures Game is a tactical ship-to-ship combat game that is currently under development by Fantasy Flight Games. Players will be able to control starships, such as Rebel X-wings and Imperial TIE fighters, and pit them against each other in fast-paced space combat. The game is reported to feature detailed and painted miniatures and will recreate Star Wars space combat in several scenarios included in the release. Players will be able to select their crew and plan their maneuvers before play in order to develop strategies to complete their missions.^[2]

The release of the game was delayed for reasons unannounced by Fantasy Flight Games, but could be related to the same decisions made to postpone the release of the company's other Star Wars-themed game, Star Wars: The Card Game LCG.^[3]

Fantasy Flight Games announced five supplements to the X-wing miniatures game. The X-wing Expansion Pack, Y-Wing Expansion Pack, the TIE Fighter Expansion Pack and the TIE Advanced Expansion Pack, together with a Dice Expansion Pack, were advertised as needing the X-Wing Miniatures Game—also referred to as the Core Set—in order to have a complete game experience.

• X-wing Core Set—a starter set that contains scenarios, cards, and fully assembled and painted starships.
• X-Wing: X-Wing Expansion Pack—contains one pre-painted, highly detailed X-wing miniature, cards, tokens, dial, and four skilled pilots, including Wedge Antilles.
• X-Wing: TIE Fighter Expansion Pack—contains one pre-painted, highly detailed TIE fighter miniature, cards, tokens, dial, and six pilots, including "Backstabber."
• X-Wing: Y-Wing Expansion Pack—contains one pre-painted, highly detailed Y-wing miniature, cards, tokens, dial, and four pilots, including Horton Salm.
• X-Wing: TIE Advanced Expansion Pack—contains one pre-painted, highly detailed TIE Advanced miniature, cards, tokens, dial.
• X-Wing: Dice Pack—includes six custom eight-sided dice—three red attack dice and three green defense dice.
