X2 was a Force-sensitive clone trooper created by the Galactic Republic during the late Clone Wars. A clone created with the DNA of Jedi Master Falon Grey, X2 was assigned to fight the CIS. His twin clone brother was X1, created for the same purpose.
Later on, after being betrayed by his twin, X2 was discovered and recruited by Master Rahm Kota to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic. He was then trained by Grand Master Luke Skywalker of the New Jedi Order, which led to a final confrontation between him and X2.

[edit] Clone Trooper
X2, along with his brother, X1, was a Force-sensitive clone trooper created by the Galactic Republic towards the end of the Clone wars. Created using the DNA of Jedi Master Falon Grey, X2 was assigned to Master Ferroda. Chancellor Palpatine officially recognized X1 and X2's achievements after a battle on Tatooine, but the ceremony was cut short due to the Invasion of Coruscant. He was on a mission on Cato Neimoidia when Order 66 was issued. Reluctantly, and with the urging of his brother, he struck down Master Ferroda. Appalled by what he had done, he turned his back on the newly formed Galactic Empire and fled to Dantooine. While there, he discovered his biological "father", Falon Grey. However, their reunion was brief as X1 fought Falon Grey, and killed him after 'surrendering'. X1 also wounded X2, intending to leave X2 to die on Dantooine, but X2 survived.

Years later, X2 was tracked down by Rahm Kota, who had gone to Dantooine to find Falon Grey. Kota revealed that Falon was his apprentice prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars. Kota took X2 off Dantooine and X2 joined the Rebel Alliance. X2's first mission was to Geonosis to rescue a group of Rebels. After freeing the Rebels, they pledged their allegiance to X2, and Grey Squadron was formed by X2, named after the late Falon Grey.
X2 participated in the Battle of Yavin, providing cover fire for Luke Skywalker. Years later, X2 participated in the Battle of Hoth, keeping Imperial AT-STs away from Echo Base. After the ground battle, X2 boarded the Avarice, intending to destroy the ship to aid in the Rebel evacuation. Once on board, X2 was ambushed by X1, who brandished Falon Grey's lightsaber, and seemed to have gained some measure of proficiency with the Force. X2 defeated X1, and X1 fled.
X2 was involved in bringing reinforcements to Han Solo's strike team during the Battle of Endor. After aiding Han Solo, X2 and Grey Squadron participated in the space battle, with X2 boarding the Death Star to obtain Imperial blueprints before the station was destroyed.

After the destruction of the second Death Star, and the establishment of the New Jedi Order, X2 became a Jedi Knight under Luke Skywalker. He vowed to track down X1 and bring him to justice. X2 and Grey Squadron visited Dathomir to capture X1. X2 and Shara were ambushed by Nightsisters who were attempting to defeat the Imperial presence. After defeating the Nightsisters, X2 discovered that X1 had moved to Mustafar. When he returned to his ship, however, he found that Grey Squadron had been killed by an Imperial. The Imperial then defeated X2 and fled. After regaining consciousness, X2 then set out to Mustafar to confront X1.
After breaking into the facility, X2 discovered that X1 had reactivated some of the droids that had since been deactivated after the Clone Wars (or re-activated by Gizor Dellso during the Battle of Mustafar). After destroying the droids and freeing a captive Luke, X2 found X1 waiting for him. X1 had become distorted by the Dark Side, and was physically distorted in a similar manner to Palpatine's disfigurement. X2 managed to overpower X1, but in a final act, X1 tried to use his dropped lightsaber to impale X2. X2 jumped over the lightsaber, causing X1 to be impaled by his own blade. X1 fell into the lava rivers.
X2 was later seen observing Mustafar with the New Republic fleet.
