The Y'bith were a subspecies of the sentient Bith species created as a result of the Nozho–Weogar War. During the conflict, the ecosystem of the Bith homeworld Clak'dor VII was ravaged by chemical, biological and nuclear attacks, causing mutations that killed many. Those who survived the mutations stabilized their genetic drift through bioengineering and became a separate, offshoot subspecies, the Y'bith.[1]
The subspecies remained similar in appearance to baseline Bith, but had darker more orange skin and more pronounced facial features and fingers. In Bith society, Y'bith had the same legal rights as other Bith, but faced a high level of societal pressure.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
In the new Star Wars canon, the Y'bith were first mentioned in Fully Operational, a 2018 supplement for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion game produced by Fantasy Flight Games.[1] The subspecies originated in Star Wars Legends continuity, where they first appeared in the 1978 The Star Wars Holiday Special made-for-television movie,[2] and were first named on the StarWars.com Databank.[3]
