Yaddle was a female Jedi Master who sat on the Jedi Council. She was a member of the same species as Yoda, the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. She served on the Council during the Invasion of Naboo. After the Battle of Naboo, she took a less active role in Jedi affairs. Like Yoda, she had great talent in the Force.

Biography

Yaddle was born around 450 years before the Battle of Endor,[1] and at some point during her life was found to be force-sensitive, and was taken to the Jedi Temple to be trained in the ways of the Jedi. Eventually, she was promoted to the rank of Jedi Master, and was given a seat on the Jedi High Council on which she remained for some time. She also trained the Thisspiasian Oppo Rancisis, who eventually took up a seat alongside her in the Jedi Council as well.[4]

During the Invasion of Naboo, Yaddle was current in the Jedi Council Chamber inside the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, when fellow Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn presented himself to the council with daunting news that the Sith, the ancient enemies of the Jedi has returned to the Galaxy. She was also present during the evaluation of Anakin Skywalker, a 9 year old force-sensitive child, who Jinn believed was the Chosen One that was prophesied to bring balance to the Force. The council initially agreed that they would not accept him into the order, however, they went back on this after Qui Gon's dying wish was for him to be trained.[3]

Following the Battle of Naboo, Yaddle decided to take a less active role in Jedi affairs[5] and left the Jedi High Council.[2]

Personality and traits

Yaddle was highly sought after for her great wisdom,[1] and was also known for her patience and kindness.[6]

Powers and abilities

Yaddle was skilled in little-known Jedi powers[1] such as moricho, an ancient art that enabled the user to slow the opponent's bodily functions to the point of death.[4]

Behind the scenes

Yaddle was operated in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace by Phil Eason.[source?] The model for Yaddle was originally intended as a sketch for Yoda, but was later put in the movies as Yaddle.[7]
