The Yald was a heavy cruiser in the service of the New Republic and the Galactic Alliance. It was the flagship of Commodore Brand during the Battle of Fondor.

During the latter stages of the war, the Yald was assigned to Mon Calamari, where it participated in the defense of the world shortly before the end of the war.

The Yald has never been described as belonging to a particular class. It is unclear whether it is a new type of heavy cruiser fielded by the New Republic/Galactic Alliance or a older model, like the Majestic-class heavy cruiser.

It could also follow real-life naval nomenclature and be a cruiser that's bigger than a destroyer.
