The Yde system was a star system located within the Nicandra sector of the Mid Rim.[1]

The Yde system contained Desultori, home of the noted author, inventor and scholar Aanxi Raanxi Laanxi, as well as the University of Desultori, where Laanxi chaired four subcommittees on creative procrastinating.[2]

The Yde system was first mentioned in an entry for Aanxi Raanxi Laanxi in a segment named "The Seminar Participants," written by Bob Carrau for the 1993 book Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas, a publication that collects concept designs and photographs from various George Lucas projects.[2] Lucasfilm employee Leland Chee, who maintains the Holocron continuity database, has indicated that information contained in the book is non-canonical.[3] The entry on Laanxi did not clarify what type of location Yde was, simply suggesting it contained Desultori, another unspecified location.[2]

Sixteen years later, Yde was revealed to be a star system and was included in The Essential Atlas, a third-generation Essential Guide written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace and published by Del Rey in August 2009.[4] The book placed the system in the Mid Rim, within the Nicandra sector.[5] The Yde system was later added to Star Wars: The Essential Atlas Online Companion, a web-exclusive series of articles intended to serve as dynamic supplement for The Essential Atlas.[4]
