- "Of all the Jedi, why did I have to end up with Skywalker?"
- ―Wullf Yularen, on his assignment to Anakin Skywalker's fleet during the Clone Wars
Wulff Yularen was an admiral for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars later a Colonel in both the Galactic Empire's Imperial Security Bureau and Naval Intelligence Agency, in which he was eventually promoted to Deputy Director in both of them. At one point, he worked closely with the Joint Chiefs and commanded the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order.
Yularen was a decorated officer during the Clone Wars, commanding Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker's flagship, the Resolute. At some point, Wullf had developed animosity towards the separatist commander Trench. During the Battle of Christophsis, he defeated, but did not kill, his adversary in the concurring space battle. He was involved in multiple other engagements as well, such as the Battle of Ryloth.
Following the war, and the creation of the Galactic Empire, Yularen resigned his admiral's commission in favor of pursuing a career with the Imperial Security Bureau, as well as the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order and the Naval Intelligence Agency, thus becoming a colonel. He eventually became the head of the latter organization, and remained with both it and ISB for nearly twenty years.[source?]
Behind the scenesEdit
Wulff Yularen first appeared as an unnamed background character in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and he was given the name Wullf Yularen by the Star Wars Legends card game Star Wars Customizable Card Game. Yularen would later be adopted by the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series as a recurring character.
In the StarWars.com Encyclopedia and the Databank, Yularen's first name was spelled Wulff, rather than Wullf as spelled in the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, thus making the new spelling part of the official Star Wars canon.
