Zell was a former Space Ranger, later the ambassador of Majoor and the father of Llez.
In order to provide caretakers for his boy, Zell purchased the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO from the Idd family. He then left on a diplomatic mission to Armath, commanding a fleet of Majooran consular ships. When Llez was taken captive by Zell's old enemy Reddjak during this mission, Zell personally defeated the pirate, earning his son's respect.
